Disregard for the six realms, with a peerless grace, of the xians he is the highest and unrivaled, the respected Chong Hua, standing at the highest, the one all looks up to, the one all admire, yet never able to touch, and have. From somewhere unknown, she ignorantly walks towards him, and became his disciple. Born with a fierceness destined to enter devildom, she cannot learn spells, but that is alright, as long as able to just stay by his side. But she is unable to stop herself from continuing to fall in love with him, helpless becomes hopeless, looking at him, but not daring to depend on him, yet unable to help from wanting to depend on him. It is conspiracy, he accepts it. It is retribution for previous sins, he will also accept it.
A teaser:
“Want me to forgive you? Unless the NanHua mountains collapse, and the four seas have dried.”
When he finally opens his arms and walks towards her, she only smiled, but there was no joy, no anticipation, only just standing there and smiling.
Two lifetimes as teacher and student, the third lifetime becomes Mo, time brings about big changes, ask how deep or how shallow love is, love more or hate more? Why not trouble him with the collapse of a mountain, or dry up the four seas, why reckon in the next life is xian or mo. Only afraid of looking back, clear skies and jaded moon, and returning also, embracing for a moment, this heart is yearning towards the long river. If the stars dazzle, hate the waves.
[Ebook] [Audiobook] [Radiodrama][Trọng Tử][Manhua][Manhua in Eng][Drama][Eng Translation][Bahasa Indonesia]
Saw a new novel posted on Cxt8, seems like it’ll be an awesome book. I think we also have few other scholars that likes Xian Xia so posted it up. This one seems like it’ll be heavy rain, but I researched on the ending and it should be bright sun after heavy rain, or at least clearing clouds. It’s a good ending. I just love the book covers, totally have a things for nice covers and I just really love how the stage is set in this story.
While I sent researching this novel, I found the nice tugging quote, “Want me to forgive you? Unless the NanHua mountains collaspe, and the four seas have dried.” that totally pulls me in.
This sounds super awesome!! There’s something very grand about that quote. I was browsing around on cxt8 and came across that too. Crossing my fingers that someone uploads it somewhere else so I won’t need to sleep with my computer!
Haha, I saw it on cx8 last nite & was wondering when will Chancy post this new book. Wah, you are fast & efficient:P Bah, another teacher & disciple book:( Why must the student always like the teacher??? I really dislike this kind of love so might just wait & see b4 I start this book.
Haha. Im likely to keep this for after hua qian gu. Still have a few more books need to finish.
I think this one i might like even more than hua qian gu. Just have that kind of feel. In that book, he raised her up? But in this she seems to have become his disciple just to get close. If i can’t handle temptation i will sample a chapter.
What a coincidence! I just finished this last week! Was supposed to be studying for my final but ended up marathoning this….lol. Will give this 7.5/10. There were enough humor, enough cuteness, enough angst to make this a good story, but there were some annoying/confusing moments too.
As the heroine of the story, I really love Chong Zi. I admire her optimism and good heart, how she tries to live the best way she can despite all the odds against her and how badly people treat her just b/c she was born with a dark force. One poignant moment for me was towards the end, with her asking about the meaning of good and evil. Those who were supposed to be “good” had tortured/killed/attempted to rape her while she, who was supposed to be “bad” never hurt anyone (same old debate that usually pops up in wuxia stories also between the good vs. bad sects).
It’s sad that no matter what happens, Chong Zi’s only wish is to stay next to Chong Hua. I do not like her absolute loyalty and devotion to Chong Hua b/c I don’t think he deserves it. Out of the guys who love her, I think Chong Hua deserves her the least. I hate his indecisiveness!! His wishy-washy behavoir, his constant wavering between his “responsibilities” and his love for Chong Zi, is annoying, and I just wanted to smack him over the head. Chong Hua’s fault is that he tries to have it both ways, and everything backfires on him b/c in the end, he forsakes his duties, but at that point, it’s too late. Chong Zi has crossed over to the dark side.
My favorite image in this story is in Chong Zi’s first lifetime when Chong Hua first accepts her as his disciple. I thought it really beautiful, this image of a beggar child yearning for love in her lonely eyes being led out by Chong Hua, down the steps and up the mountain to his home. This is what Chong Zi always remembers about Chong Hua, and it’s also my favorite part in the story.
The saddest part for me was in Chong Zi’s second lifetime being imprisoned in the ice cave and chained up with her bones broken. It’s ironic that ultimately, it’s what everyone did to her b/c of the dark force inside her that made Chong Zi cross to the dark side, not the dark force itself.
Thanks lidge for the feedback. Sound like bad ending ar? This story teaches us never to fall in love with our teachers, haha:P
No, happy ending for Chong Zi & Chong Hua!!!! I only do happy endings XDXD. I think it’s cool that all Viet translations have a spoiler in the beginning as to how each story would end as in OE = open ending, SE = sad ending, and HE = happy ending.
I think this is a good read in that it brings up an interesting debate of whether evilness is nature or nurture or a combination of both? Tried reading a few other stories by the same author after Chong Zi but didn’t like any of them and stopped after the first few chapters. I think this is her best book.
Wah so good. Next time I consult you b4 I start any book:) Hey, ending up with the teacher is a bad ending since I don’t like the teacher. I am listening to Hua Qian Gu & she also likes the teacher. I hate teachers:P
I usually see it like this: if someone is willing to spend time to make an a
Audiobook or translate a book, then it should be a worthy read.
*raises hand*
The plot really reminds me of Hua Qian Gu down to the ‘evil energy’ in the girl.
But that makes me really want to read anyhow. Believe both have different things to offer despite obvious similar points.
Agreed, xianxia/wuxia will almost always bring up good vs evil and responsibility vs love. It’s guilty pleasure haha, no matter how many times reading that same theme
Wahaha, I just finished the 1st chapter:P The OTP met immediately in the 1st chapter. The readers are also not bad. Yeh, no sissy voice, haha…
Haha we’re planning to do live reading, but still.picking our first book. Should we do this one or wait for miss lawyer/cgege one?
Live reading means read together? Xia0yuer is always the fastest:P Are you reading Qian Gu? If yes, then this purple is kind of the same kind. I am a bit all over the place as can’t concentrate on one:( The audiobooks for this & Cgege’s one are still in progress but you can read the actual text.
It means reading as the Audiobook releases. I don’t wanna read qian gu right now. Im more attracted to this book.
I fnished till chapter 4 where Chong Hua first accepts Chong Zi as his disciple. Yah, agreed with lidge that part really touching. The guy she met in chapter 1 is not Chong Hua? Who is that? I am poor with Chinese names so I don’t know who is who:( Really dislike that so called leader? who refused to accept Chong Zi into the sect.
Haha i thought they that was Chong Hua. Didn’t seem like him though since he is only a disciple. So u clarified for me.
Are you guys talking about the guy in white that writes a spell on Chong Zi to protect her? He’s just one of the supporting guys. He’s important to the story and will show up later.
Yes peanuts, the part where Chong Hua accepts Chong Zi as his disciple, taking her hand, leading her out of the hall, down the stairs with everyone’s eyes on them b/c CH is finally accepting a disciple, and to the mountain where he lives….That’s my favorite passage in the story. It’s like a bond began to form between them at that moment that would become unbreakable no matter what happens later.
I don’t doubt Chong Zi’s love for her shifu, but I see a bit of adulation/adoration mixed in too. At the time when she was a child with nothing and no family, Chong Hua (as her shifu) was her everything. If I were CZ, I’d fall hard for CH too.
I think it was funny in the beginning when they introduced the teachers and the oldest (looking 70) was actually the youngest and the youngest looking (30) was actually the highest.
The boy that goes into discipleship the same time with her, he’s going to be romantically involved right? So is the guy who writes the spell on her hand? I was assuming that person was Chong Hua, but thanks to lidge for clearing up!
The boy who goes through the disciple test with CZ (he’s actually a ♥♥prince♥♥) and becomes the last disciple of the sect leader is also one of the supporting guys. His love for CZ is very sad!!! Of all the guys who love and sacrifice for her, I like him the most and wish that CZ could have loved him instead of CH.
Spoiler: Pay attention to the girl who becomes CZ’s best friend as she plays a key role in the story also.
The thing about this story is that nothing is as it seems, and there are lots of twists and suprises.
nooo!! ah oh well I guess anyone who’s not CH is end up sad since they don’t end up with her anyways. I hope my second male lead syndrome doesn’t get too bad…
It’s very nerve-wrecking to know that the main character is going to get killed. Since she reincarnates, she has to die first, and probably because Chong Hua kills her.
So far (which is a bit into the 2nd lifetime, the time when she keeps getting sick so she won’t have to leave), I don’t think that Chong Hua deserves her love. No matter how much he tries to protect her in the first lifetime, he fails. And he won’t trust her enough to teacher her magic to protect herself. Then he kills her, with what he KNOWS is an excuse. Then in the second lifetime, he treats her almost like a replacement.
Personally, I think that what makes a person is their memories. That these memories shape the person and completely affect their choices. Treating Ah Zi as Chong’er is pretty callous of him. Ah Zi doesn’t know she’s a reincarnation, and even if she did, I don’t think she would really understand. After all, she doesn’t exactly hold her “shi jie” in very high regards.
Hey Lidge, have you read Qian Gu? I am reading the 2 books sort of together so I can make comparision. Heehee, hope I don’t mix them up. Actually they are fairly similar yet different. Qian Gu also adores her shifu but she has to prove herself before he’ll accept her as his dsciple whereas this book is a bit more fast paced.
What I want to rant is, it is ok to worship your shifu when you are young & impressionable but one should grow out of it as you meet more people & has more life experience. Unless your shifu is very good to you, you should just give up. Not all childhood crush or love can bear fruit. Thus, I hope the next book on teacher & disciple r/s will have the disciple realise her love for the teacher is just pure adulation not love & get to end up with one of the awesome supporting male.
Who are all the male leads? From what I’ve read so far, there’s Chong Hua, Qin Ke (the little Gong Zi) and Zhuo Hao.
I hope she grows up soon!
3 male leads already, not enough:P? Who is Zhuo Hao?
Except Qin Ke & Lin Zhi (the snooty girl), I am confused as to who is who in the sect. Anyone can give me characters intro?
The group that translated Chong Zi just announced that they are taking up Qian Gu as their next project! Yayness!!!~ Only 3 or 4 chaps. have been released, but so far sooooo addicting!!!♥♥♥
CZ’s love for CH does make me frustrated, but on the other hand, I sympathize with her stubbornness on loving him. I do think CZ’s love began out of adulation + loneliness, but whatever feelings she had grew into a deep genuine love b/c during her childhood when she was most vulnerable and impressionable, CH was not just her shifu but also her protector/family/friend, i.e.: her entire world.
I don’t think love is ever right or wrong. It’s our heart that decides who we love, and when CZ’s heart was empty, CH was the one who occupied it. He was just at the right place at the right time, I guess is another way to put it. In other words, it’s fate. So when she meets Qin Ke again or Zhuo Hao or the other supporting guys, unfortunately her heart at that point was already full of CH and could not accept anyone else in a romantic sense b/c there’s no more place for them.
Im so slow. Im only at 8 right now. My dad was home all day. Will catch up tomorrow.
I really like Chong Zi so far. Wah, Qin Keep will be missing in action for an entire year? I like Muo Shi Xiong too.
Chong Hua is not same level as Headmaster right? Since Chong Zi has to call snooty girl Shi Shu (which makes her same level as Chong Hua).
I do understand what you are saying. This is what I don’t like abt her is her stubborness to hold on to CH. Can be more flexible & give others a chance. If CH doesn’t recipocrate, what she gonna do? She should open her heart & try to accept others since the r/s with her shifu is so difficult to bear fruit.Being persistent is good but I feel not in this kind of love situation. Many a tragedy happened bcos people cannot let go.
I do undestand different people cope with things in different way so I’ll be open minded & accept her for who she is. However I cannot ship her with CH. I’ll prepare my tissues & cry for Qin Ke. Btw in Qian Gu, we’ve a Lang gege who is also a royalty. In that book, I also ship the supporting males. Cry cry:(
Luo Yin Fan = Chong Hua – Chong Zi’s shifu
Zhuo Hao – Qing Hua Sect’s leader’s son. He’s the one who asks for Chong Zi’s hand in marriage twice.
Mu Yu – Chong Hua’s shi shu because he’s Min Yu Zhong’s disciple, is the highest ranked student because he won that once every five years tournament
Chu Bu Fu – the guy who casted a spell on Chong Zi so she won’t be bullied, he became the demon lord Wan Jie
Min Yu Zhong – the highest generation in Nan Hua Sect, really biased against Chong Zi because of her aura
Yu Du – Chong Hua’s shi xiong, Qin Ke’s teacher
Xing Xuan – has the ability to divine “fate,” sort of like he can see the past
Yan Zhen Zhu- Chong Zi’s best friend, she’s actually a generation younger than Chong Zi, but she’s older and departs good advice
Yin Shui Xian – a fallen xian that became a demon, was once in love with her shifu (who is currently dead), caused an enormous scandal in the xian world.
Thank you very much. This makes following the novel a lot easier so I can catch up:)
So the male leads are Luo Yin Fan, Qin Ke (who is going to reappear soon bc I peeked and saw his name in Ch. 10), Zhuo Hao, Mu Yu, and Wan Jie Jun? But Wan Jie is currently in love with a woman from Qing Hua Sect.
I like Zhuo Hao too! Wanna switch peanut?
There’s one last guy who shows up pretty late, about mid-way(?) through the story. Even then, he only pops up now and then (to give CZ directions if I remember correctly), but he becomes a major player towards the end.
[SPOILER!!!! SPOILER!!!!]
CZ marries him.
wait. wait. wait…….! I just want to know one thing. My understanding was, this is a happy or at least open ending for Chong Hua and Chong Zi. Like showing possibility of them ending up together? You don’t need to tell me exactly, just yes or no?
I actually don’t think Chong Hua is ‘that’ bad. Maybe I just have high tolerant for these kind of guys. So far, he hasn’t done anything that makes me not like him, still the good teacher. At least he doesn’t get swayed that much by the other people about isolating her at Mt. Kunlun for a hundred years. I was actually very scared when those demons took her hostage, I thought that was her first death. Considering how he’s always talking to her about how if a person dies can save many lives, their death is honorable and serves a good cause. Luckily he hasn’t disappoint.
Yes, happy ending for CH & CZ in the epilogue.
Thanks!
No, no, no, Zhuo Hao is all mine:P Hey, you got the highest & most respected CH sian:) Since you think he is not ‘bad’ & can tolerate him, he is all yours:P I can’t stand him, feel like fast forwarding his parts:P Btw I can tolerate the shifu in Qian Gu more. Recommend you to read that after this for comparison.
haha he’s the most handsome too!
I like all the 6 realms background talk in this story. It’s the most detailed out of the others that I’ve read. In this one, it shows that the Xian realm also have 2 groups: the xian sects that use weapons and the ones that use spells. We also learn that the mo side is also separated into various sects as well. The one that Chong Hua defeated was just one of the stronger leaders of one sect which all the various mo sects have gathered under to support their domination efforts. I also like the name of Luo Xing Sha: Falling Stars like Sand, such a nice name for a magic.
I think Chong Er is very cute, especially how she imagines herself to be a old lady following her 22 year old looking Shi Fu. That was so funny.
I like the 2 reader’s voice, her Chong Er voice is very nice. Sometimes I get bored and don’t want to listen hearing when the child part takes up many chapters, but her little Chong Er voice is very listenable. The guy reader, I reallllly like his Zhuo Hao voice! Pretty impressive, I almost forgot he’s also doing Chong Hua’s voice. From now on I’m gonna call Chong Hua by his real name Yin Fan, because it sounds so weird when both the main girl and main guy has the same surname because of a sect.
lidge, you scared me for a second there!!!!
I have one last question. Is Chong Hua’s shifu dead? The previous head of Nan Hua, that’s his shifu right? Chong Hua is a generation under Min Yu Zhong the man that is all hostile to Chong Zi right? I really hate that person, so judgmental. Little Chong Zi won’t hurt a friggen fly even! The Lingzhi girl is irritating like a fly though. One of those spit-in-your-face-then-wipe-it-clean people. I hope she doesn’t get into any of Chong Zi’s lovelines with any of the guys. It’ll be the most irritating thing EVER. But I just know it’s gonna happen, probably with Qing Ke’s loveline. *sigh*
Oh, they only got together in the epilogue. Ok, I’ll skip it:P
I think expect it to be in Chong Er’s relationship with Qing Ke. Imagine Qing Ke seeing how pretty of a young lady Chong Er has grown up to be. He’s probably become very handsome once he finally comes down from the peak also. That Ling Zhi will definitely be jealous. lol Doesn’t Qing Ke have to call Ling Zhi by the titleShi Shu also? haha
I hope they read the epilogue *sigh*
but happy still knowing THANK YOU!!
haha peanuts, CH redeems himself somewhat in the end^^
And he’s kind of cute in the epilogue.
It’s implied that CH and CZ are together in the end, and the epilogues confirms the happy ending. If you guys can’t find it, I don’t mind translation that short part. It’s no prob^^
I LOVE YOU <3
This love polygon is worse than the one in Feng Qiu Huang, where the leading lady had a harem of guys at her beck and call. 😛
Ahhhh, the updates seem really slow (even though they are quite fast). I’m more of a marathoner so the wait is killing me.
Yes, yes the audiobook sounds really good, very into the characters. They sound like what they should sound like. No sissy or auntie’s voices. Btw the song at the begining is very familiar, recycle from which audiobook?
You know the cutest character in Qian Gu is a worm & in this book the lead is called Chong Zi, haha…Yah, I like her too except her devotion to her shifu.
You should learn to be patient like Mel waiting for your translations, heehee…I suspect you might jump to the book:P
But in this book CZ worships her shifu whereas in Feng Qiu Huang, it didn’t say she is so ‘gaga’ over the male lead. I find CZ’s pure adulation of her shifu gives me goosebumps:(
It’s 董贞’s 爱殇. The singer I posted about in the forum.
Trust me, it’s no where as bad as reading an uncompleted book. I hate this part 1 part 2 releasing thing. I’m so pissed!
I feel it would be very impossible and painful experience for Chong Zi in Nan Hua if she hadn’t been so smitten by her shifu. Like her painkiller in a way. I can’t even imagine! Everyone sees her like a freak of nature. Poor Chong Zi T_T
This is what I remember but pls don’t hesitate to correct me if I’m wrong^^
-The previous leader of Nan Hua was Yu Du and CH’s shifu. He died after fighting the #1 evil guy what’s-his-name, the one born with the dark energy like CZ (sorry, I read this translated in Viet so can’t give you the name in Chinese).
-Yep, CH & Yu Du are a generation under MYZ.
-Ling Zhi is OK later on though.
-LZ insists CZ calls her “shi shu” but wants QK to call her by her name. Funny thing is QK keeps calling LZ “shi shu”…hehe
The story has a lot of characters so here are the movers & shakers you should pay attention to. Hope this helps in simplifying the story a little……
– CH, CZ, Mu Yu, Chu Bu Fu (Wan Jie), Yan Zhen Zhu (CZ’s best friend) & there’s one more guy that pops up waaaaaayyyy later in the story who’ll become CZ’s husband. These are the ppl who are crucial to developing the story and moving it forward.
-QK & ZH are the supporting guys, but I don’t think they’re important in regard to plot development. They’re sort of there to support CZ, but that’s probably it.
Thank you for all your explanations. How far are you with Qian Gu? I think the guys in that story are more useful in moving the plot because I think Qian Gu likes Dong Fang but he later betrays her or do something bad to make her like her shifu in a romantic sense. Are you at the part where Lang gege has made an appearance? Hey go to that post & discuss with me on your progress every now & then as I need you:P
I’d love to read Qian Gu with you two, but I might get confused since these 2 is pretty similar. lol I’m in serious need for another book though.
Hey, how abt starting another book Who Gets the world together since long wait for Purple?
yes yes! It’s very different from Pillow Book and Purple because it’s wuxia not xianxia.
Chong Zi is a goner…
shifu, I know you did it out of good, but you just scared poor girl for life.
Is anyone up to 17-18 yet? Help!!
Two new characters just showed up. One male with dark red hair and black robe and a lady in light purple(?)
Was the lady the one restrained in Qing Hua Sect when Chong Zi got injured or is she just one of the Qing Hua xians? She slapped the man with the red hair. Is this guy one of the male leads??? I totally missed his name hehe…
The one with red hair is Chu Bu Fu (Wan Jie), the 1st guy that CZ meets that writes the spell on her arm. As the story progresses, you’ll learn why the spell lost its effectiveness and why his hair turned red.
Very sad!!!!
The red haired guy is the demon lord Wan Jie. He was the guy who put that spell on her when she was little. Not exactly sure who the lady is, besides that Wan Jie loves her and she’s from the Qing Hua sect.
So about today’s episodes. My Qin Ke was so cold to Chong Zi today. T.T And that girl Ling Zhi is so annoying. The story is progressing so agonizingly slowly… or maybe waiting for the audio updates are making everything seem slower.
Wah! You beat me!
that was him?? He turned into demon????
But Chong Hua said he died! Well… I guess if you turn into a demon, some part of him died or he became another person, that’s why the spell stopped working maybe?
I beat both you and chancy today^^
The girl is even more mysterious to me now. Red-haired guy asked her why she’s staying there, then he got slapped. Ahhhh I have a thing for guys that don’t get appreciated for their feelings. I don’t like this woman already haha. Who was the demon side trying to rescue if this woman isn’t it?
& Red Hair followed Chong Hua and Chong Zi when they left. He said something about him or her not knowing something. so ambiguous….
yeah… pain of waiting T_T
lol It shows that he’s not someone who treats people according to their appearance, a good trait. Unlike Peanut’s Zhuo Hao. haha
I’ve read up to 18 and I don’t get what’s the complaining about Chong Hua. This guy just doesn’t know how to take care of a little girl, but he’s been lonely up there for many hundreds of years (I assume). Like with Yun Ji, he found out about her feelings for him and distanced from her, he seems pretty responsible. hehe As for Chong Zi’s starving, I think that was a must. We didn’t get to see if the other ShiFu also make their disciples starve. Chong Hua back then also took 2 weeks or was that 2 days before finally overcoming hunger. I think that if he hadn’t come out to accept Chong Zi as his disciple, she might end up in worster situation as for up to now. I won’t say about the future because we all know he messed up big time, but for right now I think he’s a very nice ShiFu.
I’m also starving for the next update.
Haha, sorry I listened to that last night already:P So far, my Zhuo Hao is the best, so cute & naughty:P The reappearance of Qin Ke is so anti-climax:P Btw I saw an online poll voting this book as no. 12 so it should be quite good. You are someone who likes to marathon books:)
I have a feeling that Qing Ke might end up like Wan Jie. Considering the woman Wan Jie that liked also liked her Shi Fu and Chong Er likes Luo Yin Fan her Shi Fu and Qing Ke in the future will also like Chong Er. I’m just assuming, but since we’re not there yet I don’t want to be confirmed about this thought yet.
Chong Hua is yours, of course you defend him:P Why is he such a loner? Why he doesn’t like Yun Ji who seems like a nice woman? He gave in & didn’t teach CZ anything, so weak. I feel Mu Yu is a better role model for CZ. Don’t know why she is so attached to him, being isolated in a lonely place.
love cannot be forced~
Do you mind if I also call Wan Jie? I have a feeling that I’ll also really like Wan Jie.
Now the question is Wan Jie or Qin Ke? It’s a little too early for me to make the decision. lidge, what do you think?
Yah, but I feel he is the ultra passive guy who needs the girl to work very hard to win him. Bcos CZ is persistent only got him or else she’ll just be like Yun Ji. I feel he is the one who makes CZ’s life so stressful on not knowing any magic & worry that she’ll be kicked out.
Go with Wan Jie, he seems much more interesting & colorful:) Too bad I am not into red hair or else i would have taken him, haha..
Huh, gay love?
LOL this just made my day. Peanuts, you’re the best!
I think what chancy meant was that Qin Ke might also end up a Mo rather than a Xian.
Not gay love… I think you might have been reading Heavy Sweetness too much… Hehe. 😛
For me, very tough to choose between WJ, QK & ZH b/c each is awesome in their own way.
– WJ: For me, I’d say WJ sacrificed the most for CZ. Doesn’t mean he loves her the most, just that he is caught in the most difficult circumstance by coincidence. And their relationship is not romantic but more like brother/sister.
-QK: My personal fave b/c of his silent love for CZ. We never know how deep until the very end, which makes it more sad!!!
-ZH: Winning pt is he has the best personality out of all the other guys…lol. I’d say ZH’s sacrifice for CZ is not as much compared to CH/QJ, but not b/c he loves her less. It’s b/c he’s not forced into a difficult situation, but if he needs to, I have no doubt he’ll act the same as WJ/QK/CH.
lol what? haha
Hahaha, I read QK will end up liking WJ:P Yah, how you know I was listening to Heavy Sweetness last night because I can’t wait for your translations & the songs are just too nice, heehee…
WJ is Wan Jie? He likes CZ? I thought he likes Yin Shui Xian ?
I think him and Chong Zi will just be brother sister type of relationship.
Who is Ying Shui Xian? That girl that slapped him?
Ying Shui Xian is one of the Four Guards of Jiu You the Demon Lord. All the demons technically fall under Jiu You because Wan Jie is very reckless for a lord.
Ying Shui Xian was once a xian of Tian Shan Sect, however she fell in love with her shifu, Xue Ling. There was a scandal about it, but I’m not sure if they actually did anything. But when Xue Ling died and she wanted to see his grave, they wouldn’t let her and she turned into mo. Now whenever anyone wants to manipulate her, they try to bring Xue Ling into the arguement, or use that mortal that looks almost exactly like him.
I was rating the guys based on the sacrifices they make for CZ out of love (doesn’t have to be romantic love though). Sorry if I wasn’t clear on this pt.
From my perspective, Wan Jie & CZ’s relationship is complicated to explain. It’s largely like older-guy-who-protects-younger-girl type of caring, but it gets a bit ambiguous later on (at least for me). She calls him the Eng equivalent of “uncle” and he treats her like a younger sister, but he makes a huge sacrifice for her (twice!).
Although CZ loves CH, she has a soft spot for WJ b/c he’s sort of like her first crush. She’ll always remember him as that awesome guy who wrote the spell to protect her, and it’s b/c of him that motivated her to go to Nan Hua to become a disciple.
As for WJ, he loves CZ like a little sister, but his sacrifices for her are so huge that I can’t help but wonder if towards the end, he likes her in the romantic sense a little bit after the time they spent together with just the two of them? This part is up to each reader’s interpretation.
For me, CZ & WJ’s relationship can’t be clearly defined like CZ’s feelings for CH/QK/ZH. It’s just not that clear cut.
hehe why i feel this is talking to me. i think i will be one of those delusional readers xp
I think it will be more touching if the main r/s in this book is b/w CZ & WJ than CZ & CH. They are both uncle characters but she met him 1st & he did so much for him. But isn’t WJ the one who hurt CZ in Qing Hua sect banquet?
Im wanting ti know why he did it too or maybe he didn’t know it was her? Ep 19&20 are up.
Yes, that was her first time seeing WJ again. He would’ve killed her if CH wasn’t there in time to save her.
Actually, CH and CZ’s forbidden relationship is interesting on two fronts. First, there’s the teacher/disciple angle, which is angsty already.
The other complication is that CH hold the position of something like “Defender of the Xians.” Hope I’m understanding this correctly, but this position is highest among the xians (including all the sect leaders). If there’s a battle of the xians vs. the dark side, CH is the leader for the xians. This is why CH is the strongest/most gifted person @ Nan Hua but is not the sect leader because he has way too much responsibilities already with this position.
So that’s the double whammy. There’s the forbidden teacher/disciple relationship but also later on, CZ becomes the leader of the dark side and CH has to lead the xians to get rid of her and her followers.
Oh xia0yuer, plenty of your QK in actions in the last 2 chapters, very exciting:) Wah, he is such a show off & even hurt poor CZ:( Ya, ya, I know you are talented & skilful but come on don’t need to use such deathly moves on your ‘shi di’ & ‘shi mei’. This is just a friendly competition, not battle.
I’m back on this book now. I just really like Mu Yu, he’s such a great role model and his ShiFu should be proud to have such a disciple. I thought he’s really cool to stick with his plain sword to fight QK and even won over him and maintained his status.
I think lots of things shape how QK is, probably because of his background he is very prideful and proud. Showing off is definitely something someone like him would do, but I really like that he willing to accept lost full heartedly and accept other’s criticism. I think he’ll become a really great person in the future of the novel.
Big =P to Wen Ling Zhi when Chong Hua glared at her. I was basking in it.
As for Chong Hua and Chong Zhi, I find that her love for him is very natural. I think if I was in her shoes and given everything against me, it’s impossible not to fall in love with him. On the shallow end, he’s a handsome man with a 22 year old face, even though he can be her grandpa by how many greats. If such a person treats me this nicely, I think I’d fall in love with him.
Up to this point, Chong Hua’s care for her is more of a parent and he makes alot of exceptions for her, he tries to find way to teach her stuff even though others are against it. He always finds excuses to teach her stuff. Chong Hua have no idea that his little disciple has romantic feelings for her, it’s a taboo thought that he’d probably not want to consider unless it’s shining right in front of him clearly. But can we blame him? I don’t think any guardian taking the role of being one’s substitute father would even give thoughts of the possibility that their fostered daughter might fall in love with him because of the care he showers her with, that’s just sooooo taboo. Giving such thought would only make him seem paranoid. ^^
hehe i was THIS close to growing bad feelings for QK but he redeemed himself before anything could happen. The guy knows how to turn around quick and isn’t as hard-headed as I was scared he might’ve been!! I mean, he did that move is very show-offy of him, but it also served as warning in case he surprise anyone. Who doesn’t want to show off hehe, isn’t that why Mu Yu’s shifu so pissed off at his own disciple using a lame sword? & Luo Xin Sha is Nanhua’s signature skill so all their disciples can learn, it’s very natural he would chose to use it if he had taken the five years perfecting sword skills. Just nobody expect him to get that far in it. I keep thinking Qing Ke would be able to have more of a competition with Chong Hua had he not been trapped on a mountain practicing sword lol. 5 years allowed Chong Zi and Chong Hua a lot of time to make memories and develop feelings considering no one treated her well except her shifu and that girl Zhen Zhu. If he had been there, she wouldn’t be as reliant on Chong Hua. By the time he got back, she’s already long swept away by her shifu.
& yeah, Chong Hua has a lot of things to think about, can’t go around all day thinking “gotta be careful, gotta prevent my little disciple from falling in love with me” haha. He’s like a fossilized piece of wood, it’s gonna take more than a few years to get him back into a feeling person. He’s already awkward enough with an extra person following him around. She’s already changing him at the speed of light.
i like Qin Ke, I like him ALOT! even more than Zhuo Hao now. My heart cries for Chong Zi already because Luo Yin Fan has “a heart of a father.” Wonder when that would start changing. 2nd life? 3rd life? can’t wait. Yin Shui Xian is very sad, but I think Chong Zi is more innocent than her still. Really feel bad for Wan Jie.
I am up to chapter 20 so don’t know how awesome Qin Ke is yet. I think xiaoyuer has abandoned him so u can have him but you already have Yin Fan, haha….I can’t keep pace with you but it is ok as I like to take my own sweet time:P
nah….I think I’ll stick with Luo Yin Fan since I know he gets the girl. I don’t want to mourn for Qin Ke if he does dies at the end. T_T
I’m at 24, not that far ahead. School is gonna get busy soon and I need to translate, and there’s only 2 chaps released each day, so won’t be able to follow as tightly. I’m down to only reading 2 books, this and the Lin Jing ge ge one. This is all my schedule will allow.
I’m totally agree that love cannot be forced! But,CZ love for her shifu make me rather headache and hopeless for CZ. Her shifu is so depressing,he’s so high & mighty but when it about a thing called love he so clueless and dumb.
Perhaps one of us should get him become our diciples and teach him about love.
Especially after she learns about Yan Shui Xian’s story. Did Yan Shui Xian’s shifu ever returned her feelings?
Yeah…Yan Shui Xian’s shifu, she even never allowed to see his grave. What’s wrong with all of this shifu?
In the book, they keep mentioning that such a relationship is incestuous. Shifus are almost like a second father. So it’s as taboo as loving your father, I guess. It might also be mixed in with a lack of respect/clear, defined relationships.
Yup, and i think he had always saw himself as father figure for her. I think the only crossing was the cpr, but that’s also at critical moments. She’s the one who swayed pass in thoughts. I think that to her he’s more of a university teacher, he looks young. There are many cases where a student fall love with their teacher because he is young. Chong Hua looks 22 and is very handsome and kind. Having those feelings are taboo during the period while u are having his classes though. I guess the modern perspective changed from back than.
She also didn’t know what she felt was a taboo attraction until she heard Shui Xian’s story and everyone said that it could be anyone but your shifu. But.at that moment she was already too deep in. When does Chong Hua start returning her feelings? Second life?
I got it,suddenly i realize,in many different culture, places and inside people’s mind, shifu, teacher, sensei, guru and whatever it names is somebody who got such high respect. And sometimes like another parents to us.
At least it’s give me more reason to understand CH act towards CZ.
Hmmp,novel..what you’ve done to our live
I’m on like ch. 29. Luo Yin Fan’s feelings towards Chong Zi can only be consider fatherly atm. I don’t hate him yet since he’s shown way more emotion towards his student than anyone else ie. anger, worry etc. I am beginning to feel sorry for Yun Ji. Chong Zi gets special treatment lol, but at the cost of knowing her feelings towards him is doomed. Win some lose some?
Have an evil thought: I really want to hurry to when Chong Zi dies. Hopefully he’ll start falling in love with her in second life. So curious, I wanna see what Luo Yin Fan is like when he’s in love. I can’t imagine it right now ah!!!
Again falling back into this pool of angst. I think I’m going to split this into three parts. I think I’m almost arriving at her first death so I’ve already took a pause for a lighter read. Now I’m going to read until her second death. In other books like this, I’m just in a rush for the character to grow up, but in this one I have a ‘bian tai’ rush to get to her death because it insures more angst behind each death.
hehe… I wish Chong Zi will die soon so Chong Hua can be in pain.
I think I’m starting to like Zhuo Hao more too.
Every time the book starts talking about Luo Yin Fan, I have an urge to skip until someone more interesting appears… like Wan Jie! Oh my goodness, he’s 100000x more exciting than her shifu. I don’t know why, I just really dislike Luo Yin Fan… I really, really dislike him. More than I dislike Gou Jian from Grand Dream….
Oh dear, what do I do? I know that she’ll end up with that undeserving guy. T.T
Haha Im just waiting for the author to finally torture him. I hope that comes soon.
What ep are you on? I’m on 40. I seriously wish Wan Jie was the male lead.
I am still stuck at chapter 20 since few weeks ago:( No motivation to continue bcos I can’t stand LYF !!!!
I am on 40 too. Putting it on hold to wait for all chaps to be uploaded first.
Lyf’s future suffering is my motivation. Hehe
But… but… Chu Bu Fu/Wan Jie is totally worth suffering through Luo Yin Fan! I’m on EP 47 now and he totally owns my heart and soul. I’m sad because Lidge says that there aren’t any romantic feelings between them. Wan Jie could totally give any of Tong Hua’s male leads a run for their money. <3333333
Lidge, is the last male lead that you were hinting at that Mo guy who is always dressed in black? I forgot his name… Wang something.
And is the spy in Nan Hua Yan Zhen Zhu?
If its Yan zhen zhu than all makes sense. Im very behind, really want to catch up now. Gotta quickly finish that let me look at you book. I should drop it. The small time i have after watching drama is just right for following Chong zi. Has Wang jie stopped liking that girl yet? She doesn’t deserve him.
Not yet. But yeah, Gong Ke Ran only likes ‘Chu Bu Fu shixiong’ not ‘Wan Jie Jun’. But they are the same person, just with a different status/title amongst the six worlds!
My poor Wan Jie… but for some reason I feel like he has more feelings (not necessarily romantic) towards Chong Zi than to Gong Ke Ran.
That mo that helped bring her to go see her shifu, i wonder if he is that husband?
Yeah, that is what I was thinking. I like him too. Lidge, spoil us please! 😀
Wow, both of you are so ahead of me so I better catch up this weekend. Downloading now:) Hey xiaoyuer, I think you are shipping my man Wan Jie:P Your one is Qin Ke. Btw, I think Lidge is busy writing essay so maybe either Lidge or skyblu can spoilt you.
haha i am also TEAM WANJIE. I thought someone said the one he likes is Yin Shui Xian. Or is it Gong Ke Ran? Yin Shui Xian is the one that was in love with her shifu right? have nothing to do with Wan Jie’s loveline right? I think I have it mixed up.
haha no one like chong hua? i don’t think he is that bad. He’s just not in love with her yet.
Excuse me, but Wan Jie is totally MINE. You have Zhuo Hao and chancy has the bothersome Luo Yin Fan.
I think I am the luckiest. Wan Jie Ge’ge my heart is all yours, at least until the male lead of my next book comes and steals it. 😀
Hahaha, I got all the names mixed up. Ya, ya, Wan Jie is also yours, xiaoyuer:P I forgot you ship 2 men, so flower heart:P
Chong Hua belongs to Chancy:P Btw got abt 98 chapters so if I resume now should be able to finish concurrently with the posting.
Yay! Wan Jie is totally the best character in the book right now. So Wan Jie likes Gong Ke Ran and Yin Shui Xian is a totally different storyline.
Luo Yin Fan is just boring and annoying. And he doesn’t believe in her. >:O
Arrrgh why Chong Zi end up with LYF:(? Bang my head on the wall:P Btw is WJ gonna die in the end? I need spoiler:P
If you’re talking about Wang Yue, the one who swears by the Mo god not to harm her, then, yeah, he’s the guy she’s going to marry. But Chu Bu Fu really is such a sweetheart. It’s just that he too is human, and make human mistakes. It’s just too bad that when Xians become too human, it usually ends badly.
why i think he will die? normally a character in his place will end up dying. Or losing an arm or something. Who is more important character to Chong Zi: Qing Ke, Zhuo Hao, or Wang Jie? If it’s Wang Jie, then I think he will die. hehe if that’s the case, I don’t think I want to know T_T
If WJ doesn’t fall in love with Chong Zi it’s better, one Qin Ke is enough. Like with Zhuo Hao (the poor guy that Peanuts tossed to the side), I think that he will end up with Min Yu Zhong’s niece, I think they’ll make a pretty alright side couple if Zhuo Hao would just turn around and see her.
Is Yan Shui Xian working under Wan Jie?
I think WJ does die, some commenter asked why the writer killed him.
Out of sight, out of mind:P I am only at chapter 22:( So waiting for ZH to sweep me off my feet later. I know Chancy is just like CZ, so loyal to the shifu:P
I suspect WJ will die bcos usually the ‘mo’ will have bad ending:( If I write a book, I gonna let the so-called baddie has a good ending & get the girl as well, lol.
Hey skyblu, since you finished this & Qian Gu, which novel do you like better? You prefer which shifu? I’ve finished abt a qtr of both books but don’t know why I prefer Qian Gu’s shifu. Probably bcos he didn’t appear much in the part I listened, lol.
I think I’m at the part where he’s about to die. T.T
When does Chong Zi die? Where you’re at right now is it her 2nd life? what ep?
Arrrgh, are you sure die so fast:(? Only 2/3 of the book:( Oh, who you gonna ship for the last 1/3 of the book? Probably he gonna get reincarnated or something like that.
I’m on EP 50 but it’s still her first life. Chu Bu Fu is the Mo Sword so he has to die for it to lose it’s power or something.
I would definitely say that I prefer Qian Gu’s shifu, his harm to her is technically reasonable because when she breaks the rules, she really breaks some rules. Her actions could’ve put the entire world at risk. His punishments were harsh, but he never tried to kill her. I would also say that he trusts Qian Gu and doesn’t give into peer pressure, but that is a somewhat biased comment as Qian Gu doesn’t have prejudice against her.
I prefer Hua Qian Gu over Chong Zi. One big reason is that there is no reincarnation, thus no amnesia for one character but not for the other. I personally think that memories and experiences make up a person, and, therefore, even if two people have the same soul, they are not the same person. Instead, the person who loves them is trying to use her as a replacement. A second reason is that you know the side characters better because the story is longer.
In terms of similar characters, I prefer Bai Zi Hua over Chong Hua, Dong Fang Yu Qing over Qin Ke, Mu Yu over Zhu Ran, and Chu Bu Fu over Sha Qian Mo. They’re not exactly the same, but they have similar roles, characteristics, and motives.
Then you’re pretty close to Chong Zi’s first death. Her second life starts out a bit better, since Chong Hua decides to ignore the rules and helps her hide her dark aura.
Thank you sky, I feel so much better now:) I was feeling guilty bcos I thought I am bias against CH. The readers for this book are very good compared to Qian Gu. If not for them, I prefer Qian Gu also. The story seems to pull me in better as the pace seems faster. Also, it has more humour & an ultra adorable pet worm:) I think cxt8 is choosing more current & less famous novels to pull in more listeners as most ppl would have read Qian Gu being the more popular book. Wish they’ll read Qian Gu later.
Yes, yes, Dong Fan Yu Qing is so much more funny & interesting than Qin Ke. I ship him & Qian Gu now. Who is Zhu Ran & Sha Qian Mo? Is Sha Qian Mo the one with the twin brother & Zhu Ran is the twin bro? I am at the part where Qian Gu is competing to be accepted as BZH’s disciple. Btw, if it is not too much trouble, can you pls post a major characters intro under Qian Gu as I am very poor with Chinese name:( ?
I think I might know who the little worm’s close cousin in this story will be. It’s a snake. This story and Hua Qian Gu is too similar so I won’t read Qian Gu, and I think after this one I will not read another Shi-Tu novel. The Shi Fu is always very Shi Fu like and it’s the Disciple who always have the liking buried in their heart because it’s taboo. If we didn’t know that Chong Zi and Luo Yin Fan is the OTP for this novel, than as the story progresses might even start thinking I’m delusional to think that Luo Yin Fan might have hidden feelings for Chong Zi. Of course there is a particular scene later on (because I’ve skipped and skimmed a chapter towards the end) where it’s solid evidence that Luo Yin Fan subconsciously sees more in Chong Zi than just a disciple. =P
Eeeee, I am scare of snake:( Actually it is pretty normal for the shifu & disciple to have feelings for each other if their ages are close enough & the shifu looks younger than her/his age. Look at Yang Guo & Xiaolongnu. Oh, don’t know why I can accept that pair r/s better. Bcos of the close proximity, love can easily spark.
Luo Yin Fan would never connect his care to love. It’s just outside of his realm of possibilities. He knows he dotes on her and cares for her, but he wouldn’t connect it romantically. In his mind, it’s bias for one’s own child that makes him so “hu duan.” He’s almost a thousand years old right? He spent most of his Xian life alone on a separated palace. He’s a bit emotionally stunted.
I think part of that feeling that Shifus are Shifus is because of the discipline of Xians. They advocate control, selflessness, and regard for the world over everything else. They’re pretty much trained to be cold, or at the very least no love. At the very least, the older generations are portrayed as such. The younger generation, the ones who love, are all young. It’s almost like teenage rebellion, except not quite.
Despite knowing the Chong Zi grows up, I always see her as the young girl who became Chong Hua’s disciple. Maybe reading Hua Qian Gu first did influence me, considering she kept her 12 year old look.
I’m guilty for that too. ^___^ Since there are no visuals, we count on our ears, so if the characters sound nicer, we tend to like them more.
I wish that Chong Zi can just stay by Wan Jie’s side forever (even without romantic feels), she seems happier and more carefree by his side. I think he is like Mu Yu, but more iced up because of his experiences.
Skyblu, I’m at this part right now:
Have I missed and passed the explanation as to why Wan Jie’s hair and eyes have turned red? If I have passed it can you tell me. U can put it into spoiler tags: (spoiler)(/spoiler) replacing the ( ) with [ ]
Yeah, I don’t think staying by Wan Jie would automatically turn Chong Zi into a Muo. If so, then just hanging out with a Xian would gain immortality!! Wan Jie treats her better than all those biased judgmental Nan Hua xians *coughsMinYunZhongcoughs*
I’m at the part where Wan Jie comes in to save Chong Zi after he apparently goes save Gong Ke Ran. I honestly don’t like that woman, I don’t know what he sees in her. I can’t help but feel he’s not gone completely evil even though he became Muo. He’s still the same person with the same memories, hence his relation with Chong Zi & I don’t think he’s doing it out of motive even at this point (it’s still early I suppose) and even though he’s killed a lot of people. I understand why Chong Zi refuse to see Wan Jie as a different person as the nice guy that saved her when she was a kid. She’s really no different since everyone prejudice against her for her dark aura. If not one person left believe in him, he’ll never have any hope left. I doubt there’ll be any Muo turning back into xian in this story, but Wan Jie just makes me feel sad. It’s like everyone forgot he was once Chu Bu Fu. I hope Chong Zi isn’t gonna become like that in her 3rd life.
So spoiler-wise, Wan Jie dies before Chong Zi dies in her first life??? WHY SO SOON AUTHOR???????
I think I’m at the part skyblue said where Wan Jie tells Chong Zi everything. Before, I would’ve had no doubt in my mind, but now I’m not convinced anymore that he’s actually in love with Gong Ke Ran. As for Gong Ke Ran, I officially hate her now. Stupid irritating ungrateful woman!! How can she say that to him? She keeps saying that he made her unable to live peacefully and getting chased by all the xian groups, but if she’s so miserable, she should just throw herself off a cliff or something and stop being a burden to Wan Jie. He never did anything sorry to her. Even Chong Zi who only had a one-time meeting with him treat him better.
haha this is my hateful post. I seriously want to bite her head off or something. I hope she dies if Wan Jie dies and I hope it’s not for her but for Chong Zi or for someone/something more worth it.
Id like to say that when Wan Jie died, i wasn’t expecting that i would cry since i already knew why and when he was going to die, but when it happened i cried alot. From the moment Chong Zi said they could just throw the sword back to them and just come back to his place.
I kinda think that things would have been better if they would listen to Chong Zi’s solution if sealing her up. Was it really the Yue poison that messed with his decision?
Finally Chong Zi dies!!! haha I don’t know why my mood is so good. Honestly I think Qing Ke and Zhuo Hou’s roles were quite limited in the first part, I have a feeling that Qing Ke’s importance/presence would me much more in the second life. I’m totally in love with the way Ah Zi meets Qing Ke, I hope that gives him more place in her heart or something, kind of like Chu Bu Fu even though he disappeared from Chong Zi’s life for so many years. Chong Zi was too revolved around Luo Yin Fan for me. It made her really pitiful. I don’t know, I was more happy than sad when Chong Zi died 1st time, maybe because it’s not really a death imo since we all know she has 2 more lifetimes. Not really a tragedy? Kind of relieved in a way because her first life is just too pitiful. I hope she is less selfless in the second life. Ironic, I actually cried when Luo Yin Fan finds Chong Zi again in 2nd life. I wonder what Qing Ke was like when he comes back and finds out that Luo Yin Fan killed Chong Zi.
I have to say, the plot in this is by far one of the best for Xian Xia I have read. Up to this point, still so many questions!!! I really miss Wan Jie. Why he have to die so fast *sigh*
I have question, was that white shadow that came out right when Chong Zi died the Dream Demon? Was Chong Zi supposed to have been able to reincarnate?? I thought Luo Yin Fan used a blow that was supposed her make her “Huan Fei Po San” scatter her soul is means no more lifetimes right??
LYF’s sword was supposed to destroy CZ’s soul/spirit completely so she would not be able to reincarnate. This is what everyone thought and the reason why LYF stops using the sword. How she is saved will be explained in her 2nd life. Sorry, it’s been awhile so my memory is a bit~~~~~
Pls prepare tons of tissues for the 2nd life when CZ is imprisoned in the ice cave. Very, very sad!!!
QK and ZH are eye-candies and make us cry. Poor ZH is also the comic relief. I love them, but they don’t really contribute much to the story.
thanks!!! I just needed a little confirmation from somebody. sometimes I don’t even know what i’m reading or if it’s just me being delusional lol
i just passed the part where LYF tells CZ about switching his sword. haha poor Ah Zi is still defending her shifu and even thinking CZ#1 is a bad student that caused her wonderful shifu trouble.
sad sad. I really want more Qing Ke and Zhuo Hao!!! Qing Ke is so funny holding a grudge against Ah Zi. I mean I was expecting him to be CBF#2 or something, but I guess not!! The 9th princess is so annoying and the fact that she’s obsessed with QK makes her that much more annoying. I think I like Wen Ling Zhi much more now lol. Ah Zi seems to care more about QK since he’s giving her cold shoulder vs. Chong Zi before since QK was all nice and everything to her. Still, agree poor guys just there to torture us, not for the plot. In that case, I really hope the author spare their lives!!
Which book? Chong Zi? You have been dreaming abt LYF everyday ar, lol. Don’t know why I tried many times to continue with this book but I always end up falling asleep, lol. This is one difficult book for me to listen or ship. It does sound like a good book with likeable characters except mr teacher yet I just can’t get into it:(
Im reading Chongzi, but its more of all the previous books read that are crashing in on me. Like what a hangover would probably feel like. Haha shifu is much bettere during her second life.
I thought that when Ah Zi appeared, that Qing Ke recognized her and that’s why he went and helped her, but it was only a coincidence. Luo Yin Fan thinks that Ah Zi likes Qing Ke. My dear Shi Fu, how can you initiate letting a 14 year old young lady sleep in your embrace. You look like a 22 year old ge ge, not an middle aged uncle. Stop stirring up the poor girl’s heart! =P
So Luo Yin Fan was born to 2 xian and not human so he grew up on a xian mountain, no wonder he is so untainted and don’t understand humans that well. haha
Zhuo Hao has become disappointing.i don’t eve know if want him to redeem himself. The only one who hasn’t is Qindisappointed is Qin Ke.
I also admit it! I’ll love the part when Chong Zi dies and made LYF suffered (no offense for LYF fans).
I was already a bit =/ about Zhuo Hao since before Chong Zi died the first time. He’s too much of a flower boy haha. But I actually thought he was genuine about Chong Zi even though nowhere as awesome as Qing Ke. The Qing Ke of 2nd life did everything right!! So far my order of love -> Qing Ke, Luo Yin Fan, Zhuo Hao. Not including the dead people oc ^^
I enjoyed Min Yun Zhong’s siding with Chong Zi during her second life while it lasted.
I feel that no matter how often or long i pause with this book the feel never disconnect.
Can’t wait to see how luo yin fan would be like after he is aware of his feelings.
Back to this book now. Yan Shui Xian’s story is very sad. I must say that that Guy is more unlikeable than Luo Yin Fan. Haha he is very possessive.
Who is that? I m still stuck in chapter twenty something. I found out korea is just an hr away by flight fr yantai where bu gege lives, so near yet so far, lol. I shall be home tomorrow, back to work sob sob…gonna read xin yi Wu new book then catch up on my audio books.
I am moping around over Qing Ke. Agree with what Chong Zi said. He spent too much of their time hiding away even if it was all for her. If he had spent that time by her side, she could’ve fallen in love with him. It would’ve been so perfect… *sniffs*
Wang Yue is so creepy and amusing at the same time. Always forget the same guy is acting Chong Hua and this guy lol. I love his last line, so like him. But I hope he doesn’t actually do what he says of course. Really love the ending. Qing Ke found a ‘chou ya tou’ that will not end up falling in love with Chong Hua.
I’m so engrossed that I had to check back in here midweek. Did everybody already finish reading this? I’m at 54 or so right now, and I really like it. The pace isn’t so fast, but not too slow either, and the writing is detailed and thoughtful. But the main reason I have to write at this ungodly hour out here in my parts is –
CHU BU FU!! Why are you so awesome?! I love your Wan Jie incarnation even more. I know that he’s already claimed, but I’m glad to stand in line and just admire from the distance. He’s my favorite character by a landslide and I’m really bummed out that he’s only in the first half or so of the novel. He just lit up the place whenever he came onscreen. 蜀客 needs to write a novel about him and Gong Ke Ran. I want to know everything that happened. Heck, I wish he was the main character instead of Luo Yin Fan. He’s just has so much substance and feeling and knows when he meets a wonderful girl.
I’m in the camp of delusionals that think that he loved Chong Zi. The way he treated her in comparison to the way he treated Gong Ke Ran, his amazing sacrifice for her, and ultimately his line ” 有人为你流泪,你应该知足了。” It’s almost like he’s convincing himself that she’s here, weeping for me now, and that’s enough. I shouldn’t be wanting more, that’s enough. I think I might start writing fan fiction now. His backstory is THE most interesting. The beautiful and kind disciple that Gong Ke Ran fell in love with and chased around, but fate played with them and sent them on a death mission that turned him into a demon to save her. And how he lives with the consequences of that fatal mistake, and how he still tries to live for what he believes is right and to protect the one that he loves. Only to find that after his downfall, the woman that he thought would love him for the rest of his existence turns her back on him. But he’s unwilling to leave her, not after what they’ve been through. He still wants to fight that demonic energy within him. And it’s around then that he’s sees the little girl with the demonic spirit that he once saved. And he’s told to kidnap her to save Gong Ke Ran. But as he spends time with Chong Zi and understands her, she helps him to understand himself. And those long buried feelings of care and affection, and receiving care and affection from others brings out the Chu Bu Fu that he had long buried inside of his soul. He wants to protect her, he might even love her. He doesn’t want to die, not before he’s figured everything (including how he feels) out, not before he’s redeemed himself. But he knows that his death is the only way for Chong Zi to live. And he chooses to bury his feelings, bury himself, he chooses to die so she can live. Oh my goodness, I’m a goner.
On the other hand, I have no idea why the novel is so preoccupied with men that can’t do anything. If I have to rate them based on how boring they are, I’d have to rate 1) Qin Ke, 2) Luo Yin Fan, 3) Zhuo Hao. These three guys seriously sit around and do nothing. I know I’ll change my mind later but I’m currently in “Chu Shi Xiong!” frame of mind, so…haha!
As for Mu Yu, even though he too is uninteresting, but I am kind of hoping that he’s Tian Zhi Xie, the spy in Nanhua. I think Yan Zhen Zhu might be Meng Ji in disguise, and that the two are working together to trap Chong Zi, so they are protecting her and enticing her at the same time. Mu Yu is the one who brought her to see the Tian Mo Ling in the first place and he keeps showing up around the Tian Mo Ling, and the way he treats her is just kind of creepy. And Yan Zhen Zhu is always provoking her to get into trouble, but in the nice back-stabbity friend kind of way. That’s my guess, but I hope I’ll find out soon.
Now to shed a few more tears for our beloved Wan Jie, and on to more chapters. Please excuse my long-windedness and the length of this ridiculous post. ^^!
Oh, and just when I thought I was done, I wanted to say a few word son Wang Yue too. He’s just so queer, and weird, and funny, and unfunny, all at the same time. I don’t like him as a character very much, but he seems to be very interesting and not like a wet limp rag the others are. He’s not really my type though. I find it hilarious how he keeps telling Chong Zi that he’s a good guy, but I can’t really tell whether he is or not. I think he’s the head of Jiuyou Demon Palace, that’s why he’s spying on Wan Jie all the time, but I don’t think he’s Tian Zhi Xie. I think……….
Now I’m really done!
Wah posted 3 msgs (double postings:) on a weekeday. atsu you are very excited, lol. I am even slower than you as I am only at chapter 44. Whereas I think everyone has finished except xiaoyuer who is AWOL:P I am so slow bcos I can’t listen to this in public as I need to pay attention & it is too sad:( I’ll catch up ASAP since you are so keen on this book. Need to at least listen till CZ’s 1st death by this weekend. Yah, most girls are gaga over WJ but too bad his book time is limited:( Normally the good things in life don’t last:( Every guys in this book is better than that shifu. Nobody likes LYF except Chancy, lol. Since xiaoyuer who has claimed him is AWOL, you can have him. WJ is yours, all yours, lol.
Chu Bu Fu was awesome, although I like Mu Yu second.
The story would probably have been fine without Qin Ke and Zhuo Hao. Their endings were okay, just not with her. I did like Qin Ke, though, he had so much potential. I wish he had more screen time, and gave me a reason to think that without him the book would be lacking. His prince status was pretty much unused.
Wan Jie is definitely memorable and amazing. His one selfish decision ruined the rest of his life. Even if he doesn’t regret it, it makes me wonder how his life could’ve gone if he just let Gong Ke Ran die.
Skyblu, you like Mu Yu second? I’m surprised. I’m not going to spoil the other 2 that haven read up here yet, I’ll talk a little about Mu Yu when they get there. For me I’d put him after Luo Yin Fan just because of what Luo Yin Fan does in the end. Or maybe he’s just tied with Luo Yin Fan.
At first I thought that Chu Bu Fu liked Gong Ke Ran, but after learning their story I actually think it was just Gong Ke Ran liking her Shi Xiong and he protected her out of duty? No comments on Wang Jie towards Chong Zi though, but I agree that he treats her the best. I would even say that Qing Ke could be almost tied with Chu Bu Fu also. Chu Bu Fu has Gong Ke Ran and his Xian values, but after falling in love with Chong Zi, everything Qing Ke did was because of her. You girls decide when you get to the end.
Poor Luo Yin Fan is not getting any love here. ><
lol Chu Bu Fu is getting so much love!! I think he’s the only one that deserves every ounce though. All the guys fell short on something, with Chong Hua being the worst. Chu Bu Fu does all the right things at the right time, but gets kicked out of the book first. It left me so heartbroken T_T
Unlike Atsu, I really don’t care what happened in the past with Gong Ke Ran and Chu Bu Fu. In fact, I officially hate that girl hmph They should trade fates, that ungrateful girl!!! I totally burst into tears when Chong Zi suddenly recalled what Wan Jie said to her out of the blue when she broke down at the end. Everything he did is engraved into her, which is why I love Chong Zi so much. She deserves his sacrifice unlike stupid Gong Ke Ran.
=_= the template acting weird again *sighs*
While everybody is on the Shang Jun ship, I’m still on Chong Zi… I always get to stuff late! But I’m really enjoying the second half! I think I’m at 70 or so and I like Luo Yin Fan so, so much more right now. I can’t really tell whether he likes her in that way at this point, but it’s nice to see him suffer a little. I can’t really say if I like the second Chong Zi as much as the original, but….it’s better than none!
I have a dumb question though. I didn’t really understand when they explained. What is “xi rang”? The stuff that the demons have that the xians want to get their hands on.
i dont know if what im thinking is that thing u are talking about. is it what luo yin fan used the block the underwater passage?
It’s the black putty stuff that Yin Shui Xian wanted to use against the Nanhua Sect disciples at LuoHe. I think the xians were looking for it too.
I think it was something that only Gods can touch. It’s used to block the tunnel that the previous Mo Zun use to attack Nanhua.
You know, I’m really looking forward to finishing this book because it’s so engrossing and time consuming at the same time. Peanuts, where are you? 🙂 I’ll try to keep things spoiler free!
Chancy, what were you going to say about Tian Zhi Xie? I’m around 102 or so, and I’m trying to understand his personal motivations and his designs towards Chong Zi. First he makes her suffer that much but then why does he help her and act so subservient to her when he isn’t even that way with Wang Yue.
And then I don’t really get Wang Yue either. He keeps promising things but does he mean it? And he says he won’t get rid of Chong Zi after he takes her blood, but then what does he want her around for? And who exactly is he? He’s such a weirdo.
As much as I feel affectionate towards Qin Ke and Zhuo Hao, I just….don’t care about them. They are so boring and so bland. I like Wen Ling Zhi so much more than both of them. Sima Miao Yuan is just annoying.
And then there’s Luo Yin Fan. He’s just….I like him more than when he started out, but he has issues and is quite self-centered in my opinion. And he can’t man up to anything. I think Xue Ling was like that with Yan Shui Xian, but he’s just more likable somehow. Maybe it’s because I like Yan Shui Xian less than Chong Zi because I’ve spent more time with the latter. But I really want to read a spinoff on Xue Ling and Yan Shui Xian. They snippet they showed us was so sweet!
I miss Wan Jie! I agree with you, rain. I don’t like Gong Ke Ran either. Just read your ranty post up top. But I just want more Wan Jie. They always kill off the most awesome character the earliest just to put our hearts through the wringer. The characters are dropping like flies though. Now that all of my favorite characters are all gone, I’m just plowing through for Chong Zi’s sake.
But this is really fun so far! Any recommendations for something similar? 🙂 (besides 花千骨…I’m waiting for the cxt8 version!)
And thank you, skyblu, for the explanation!! ^^
I loved Xue Ling and Yin Shui Xian. There is this scene in the ending where Yin Shui Xian is mortal, and Xue Ling is still her teacher. There is one scene which parallels the one before in the boat. The first time around, Shui Xian wanted to go to the edge of the world, but she doesn’t because Xue Ling says he cannot. Then in the epilogue, he tells her they are going to the end of the world, and hesitantly asks if she will go with him. Then there is this other scene in which Xue Ling gets jealous and wonders if this time, without her memories, she won’t love him any more. It was so sweet. The parallels are so striking they bring tears to my eyes.
Tian Zhi Xie’s goal is to make a good Mo Zun. The previous one he tried to make, Chong Zi’s father (ancestor?), failed because of love. So he is trying to craft Chong Zi. He needs to make her powerful and without weakness. But damn, sometimes, even when he is being cruel, I still get the Mu Yu feeling from him.
My favorite part of the book is definitely the second half/third. Even if it’s missing the amazing Wan Jie, more things happen.
Hey atsu, I can never catch up with you so write as many spoilers as all of you want bcos I like spoilers:) Anyway, I might not be able to finish this book. Don’t know why, I just cannot get into this book no matter how hard I tried:( I can’t ship anyone in this book, not even Abu’s voice:(
In the meantime, I’ve finished the pillow book, lol. Yah, initially I find Dong Hua bland but now I prefer him over Ye Hua. Maybe it is Cgege’s comical voice or Tang Qi’s better characterisation, I enjoy listening to that audiobook. Some parts, I even listened twice bcos they are so sweet & funny, haha….Have you started or finished it? If not, I recommend you if you don’t mind the book is incomplete.
Lately, the offering in cxt8 is a bit dry so I recommend you to give And Who Rules the World a try. If you miss Abu’s beautiful voice, he is there & this character is so much better than LYF:) You need to read Chancy’s intro as this book has many kingdoms & characters so things are kind of confusing. Also, the audiobook is still in progress but 95 chapters are out already. I don’t know where Chancy & Raini stop but they’ve not finished so you can listen & discuss along with us. I am at chapter 22.
Tian Zi Xie is very loyal to both Chong Zi and her father. He wasn’t able to help Chong Zi’s father so he tries to help Chong Zi. What he wants to see is the world entering into the Demonic side like Wang Yue wants. By the end, I feel that he does more for Chong Zi than Yan Zhen Zhu who I never truly hated.
Wen Ling Zi is so awesome right? My liking for her skyrocketed after Chong Zi’s first death. That Princess is soooooo annoying and she really deserves what she ends up with. I feel Qing Ke is very pitiful, but at least the author gave him an acceptable 2nd life. My feelings for Zhuo Hao just came and go throughout the 2nd life til the end of the story.
Wang Yue is very interesting, but you won’t find out more about him until the 2nd to the last chapter.
I actually like Luo Yin Fan much more than Yan Shui Xian’s shifu. Luo Yin Fan was late, but not as late as Yan Shui Xian’s shifu in realizing his own feelings. Everything he does after he was willing to accept his feelings are very touching. One of those, if you go to hell, I’ll accompany you there.
Hey, girls, do any of you have the 104th chapter to Chong Zi? They double uploaded 103, and I can’t find it anywhere! I can PM you my email if you have it! Thanks!
Ah, I can’t find the PM function. My email is angelicpianist@gmail.com. Thank you!! ^^
I totally agree with you, chancy. Wen Ling Zhi is so much better after she shakes off Qin Ke. Way to go, girl! And does Luo Yin Fan really love like that? I’d like to see that. Really sick and tired of his inner conflicts sometimes.
Skyblu, that sounds so sweet. I haven’t even finished the Yin Shui Xian and Xue Ling story yet but I’m looking forward to it so much more now!
Ah, one more guess. Wang Yue is the “mo shen”? I’ve been pretty good with my guesses so far, so I’ll have to see if I get this one right!
Peanuts, I’ve started the Pillow Book but dropped it like a hot potato when chancy said it was unfinished. I can never stop in a TangQi book when I start, so I decided to wait until the next volume comes out.
And Who Gets the World sounds like a good choice. I’m going to listen around after I finish with this.
The chaptering is different, but you can find the story here http://book.kanunu.org/files/xunhuan/201103/2017.html. I occasionally find typos, but it’s not bad enough to hinder reading.
And, wow, you really are good at guessing. I didn’t guess it until Chong Zi mentioned it, and even then only vaguely.
Really? So I’m right about him? I’m usually not this good at guessing. But since he promises all the time and so easily, I thought, well, he must be swearing upon himself. And he’s the one that punished Tian Zhi Xie, and not some outside force…
Thanks for the link! I’m still hoping if I can find the audiobook track? I’m wondering if anybody has it downloaded? It’s just more fun to listen with Abu-gege’s beautiful voice, but he’s all chancy’s ^^ I prefer admiring and listening to people from afar.
The audiobook is uploaded on http://www.ysts8.com/Yshtml/Ys7644.html, but I think you have to download it one by one.
>< he's not mine. lol i just admire him. i also guessed he was mo shen, but it was just a brief thought because he alway makes promises. you will get more insight about it all later. he's so amusing.
no dont start pillowbook. i felt so left on a cliff when i finished it. all because of cgege. TT Who gets the world is not finished yet. give it some time before starting.
if u cant download that chap I'll upload it for u if the link skyblu offered doesnt work.
I finished pillow book but didn’t feel being left on the cliff. I am reading hamster’s translation & relisten to the audobook, lol. Btw I think I saw a few chapters of part 2 are out but of course not the whole book so long wait for water sis to start recording. Yah, this book suits Cgege very much. I like him the best in this book. Water sis also very good.
Why that world book is taking so long to finish? Do you know will end at what chapter? I plan to give Chong Zi the flick & continue this book as I prefer my black fox more, lol. But all those names are really confusing:(
Wang Yue’s last line had me giggling half to death. I seriously find that guy so creepy but he’s like the most amusing character in this book lol. I’m surprised no one actually finds him hot, I mean even Eddie Cullen has fangirls (which I don’t get)
Yan Shui Xian was more unfortunate than Chong Zi imo, but her shifu came to chase her back. The ending for them was very satisfying hehe. Luo Yin Fan has lots of issues, but it’s all his unselfish greeds. He can’t ever fully let go of his worldly responsibilities that they always drill him with. When he wanted to take Chong Zi away, it was also self-sacrificial in his greed to save the world and give Chong Zi her anecdote to her becoming demon. He’s always trying to get a win-win situation and that has me always love-hate with his character. It drives me nuts seriously. He only went crazy after Chong Zi gives him that dream and then he started going really out of character lol.
Thanks for the link skyblu! I actually download all of my audiobooks from ysts8 but this time they messed up the uploading so 103 is actually another upload of 102 and 104 is actually 103 and then it snaps back at 105. I was wondering if someone else was able to download 104 from another website because everywhere I looked seems to have the same problem. It would be a lifesaver if you could upload it, chancy!!
I think I will take both of your advice, chancy and Peanuts, and read the Pillow Book and Who Gets the World a bit later. It’ll be hard to say goodbye to Chong Er and the gang though. I’m savoring every last chapter!
I’m not really sure how to put spoiler tags but the gist of it was like this I think: Tian Zhi Xie promised the demon god to be forever loyal to the demon world and find the next ruler after Nilun but when Chong Zi asked him to run away he followed her and therefore had to be punished. I wept for Tian Zhi Xie too although I still like Wan Jie more. It’s amazing how she abuses him and how he still remains so faithful. This book has a serious reverse harem!
I still think Luo Yin Fam is selfish because he never stops to think in her shoes and is always about the win-win. I appreciate his character and moral standard but it seemed hypocritical at times. There were so many other good guys too. Like Qin Ke!!
The one problem I have with Shu Ke’s writing is that she’s super descriptive in thought and detail but when the real action comes we just whiz by with one or two words or we font see the scene at all, like with Tian Zhi Xie’s end or Luo Yin Fan’s memory recovery. All of which are scenes or actions I want to read more closely about.
Ah, and raini, TZX’s last talk with CZ is an illusion. He left her and went out to his death and I think his last words to her was an illusion that he put on her mind as he was dying. Which makes it all the more heartbreaking!
yes!
i was very in wth mode when tian zi xie died. also with luo yin fan’s memory recovery. did he ever take the andedote or not?
i will check to see if the other site has that chap. it seems i have the mix up chaps too.
peanuts, black fox is my favorite ah bu also. ^_^ i went to listen to his devil book. its soooo long. did u see that reply he gave? he is seriously strange these days. finish up chong zi, its pretty good. what happens with luo yin fan is pretty amusing. although i think chong zi should stop calling him shifu. sounds so incest. haha
Hmm…is there a way to contact the ysts8 site or perhaps download from cxt8? Let me know if you find anything! I’m sort of desperate ^^
Yeah, don’t you think it’s so funny that she goes into full blown detail about someone’s thinking or appearance but then when something big happens we either don’t get the scene at all or we storm by it in less than a sentence. Makes me a very frustrated girl.
I thought how Qin Ke used his last energy to bring them to the wide sea where they met was super heartfelt too. And boy do I miss TZX now that he’s gone. I always thought it was cruel how CZ called him her dog since its pretty obvious that he cared a lot about her. Even Wang Yue the Creep noticed.
TZX deserved how ChongZi treated him after all he put her through, but it still makes me feel very tortured because we all know he’s not going to have any reaction and take everything. I was never truly convinced that Mu Yu was all motive-driven while on Nanhua. He hates the Xian and thinks they’re all hypocrites, but I think he treats ChongZi genuinely. Like he said, ‘it’s either all fake, or all real’. Sure, she would still somehow end up turning demon and he just helped push her along to her destiny in his own selfish twisted reasoning, but ChongZi still knows that like Wang Yue said, he is the only one truly on her side. That’s why she can sleep when he holds her. It’s very touching and somehow make me feel a bit happy when she mistook her shifu as Mu Yu when she woke up in Luo Yin Fan’s arms. They both wear white.
To Chancy: I may continue with Chong Zi & finish it during xmas break. I’ve moved on to And Who Rules the World, episode 25 now. I find this book rather slow moving & too many characters. I am having a hard time remembering who is who:( What Abu’s reply? The smiley sign? You know google translates his chinese name to bland, lol. I like him better now, less bland:P Wah, you super fan even listend to his devil book. I must leave a msg to him telling him he has such a dedicated fan in US:)
To Atsu: Wise choice. Pillow book is too good to be left on the shelf for too long. When part 2 is released, you can listen to part 1 again, lol. Btw B & C gege did a Shu Ke book which shall be released soon. Since you don’t fancy her style, you don’t listen lah, lol.
To Chancy & Atsu: Cgege left a msg for me saying I can write to him in English, lol. But another listen said peanuts has no choice but leave Chinese msg bcos with English msg will breach the 140 words limit. I think Cgege & Water sis are really siblings. I gonna ask water sis for confirmation later bcos I know Cgege will give vague reply, lol.
raini, that’s exactly how I felt about TZX. He deserved it, but then I felt sorry for him because he did care immensely about CZ in his own twisted way. And I was so happy when she mistook LYF for TZX in that one scene. LOVED IT! LYF has to know that he can’t have both all the time. He has to choose at some point. Wang Yue is such an interesting character because at the end, you can never guess his full motivation. And his last line is so creepy. Makes me want a sequel. Until I realize that I probably don’t want to see a wishy-washy LYF again, so maybe not.
Peanuts, finish CZ over Christmas break! It takes a while, but once you get into it, you really get into it. The story gets so much better starting from her second lifetime and its just a crescendo from there till the end. I can cheerlead on the side too, and relive some of the moments. Having major CZ withdrawal symptoms right now, and don’t know what to listen too. Maybe the Pillow Book is a good idea? But I’m usually a marathoner and can’t stand cliffhangers. I was thinking maybe Searching for Past Lives, or The Glass Maiden? Or maybe a modern read if you have a good recommendation for me 🙂
Abu-gege has a super fan in the US. And it’s so sweet that C-gege said you can leave him messages in English, Peanuts. Who cares? Just leave more than one message! C-Gege and NSX do sound like siblings – their voice timbre is very similar. You should ask her!
And Abu-gege and C-gege have a new Shu Ke novel coming out? Which one? I’m really excited now. I actually do like her writing a lot…I just have small complaints here or there, but she’s very thorough and pulls you along. Psyched! C-gege and Bu-Gege in one book?!?!
Could I ask for your help to find the 104th track, Peanuts? SInce you’re such a master at finding things ^^ I’ve looked everywhere that I know of, but 104 is always 103. I feel like I haven’t heard everything, so I want to know!!!
>< sorry. totally forgot. try if this work http://www.haokan5.com/show/4607.html its video format so i assume they should check that its right. some other mp3 sites seem to just copy from ysts site.
peanuts water sis is actually the lawyer. i think u got mixed with slmy. dont u just like cgege even more now? so considerate for his fans. =)
haha ya thats what i asked her. two superman in one book. what kind of guys are there? we are assuming its the one about the flower spirit because it fits with the guys.
chancy, it’s still mixed up!! Ah, I guess we’ll have to give up. Unless I figure out how to get VIP access ^^ Thank you though!!
I searched practically all the websites online but none has chapter 104. Are you sure there is chapter 104? Maybe Cherry said the wrong chapter at the beginning of chapter 103 or she uploaded duplicated chapter. The story doesn’t flow? You check the msgs in cxt8 as some listeners will mention abt this error.
I’m pretty sure it’s an error because one moment the Nanhua sect is having a discussion and the next Chong Zi is talking to Zhuo Hao. I didn’t see anybody mention this error either…. Ah, oh well 🙂
I started Searching for past lives and its super weird to hear Abu’s voice and another girl call him “师傅!” and not be in love with him, haha! The story’s okay so far. I might go try the Glass Maiden again if I don’t like it.
The Glass Maiden is even worse. It is slow & only 1 voice but that voice sounds too aunty. Thus, you better stay with Searching for Past Lives or continue with Pillow book or start And Who Rules the World. I’ve been sleeping with Abu’s voice in Who Rules the World every night, lol. The lead girl’s voice in World is also nice. Plus, got SLMY’s voice as a little boy, haha…
Pillow Book is unfinished!! You’ll want to kill C-gege at the cliffie, I PROMISE YOU! He got us to to jump into that book blind because of his voice!! As for Who Rules the World, just imagine running out of chapters and no more marathoning. It’s going to be 生不如死 T_T I recommend Shang Jun, it’s C-gege too!! It’s farther than WRTW so I guess that is a good thing. It seems pretty intense too, and you’ll need something intense to get you out of Chong Zi lol
I really love Shu Ke’s writing now, Chong Zi was addicting and colorful!! C-gege and Abu in one book @_@ I’m floating already at the thought.
Heehee, I stopped at chapter 45 & wanna kiss Cgege, muahaha….I don’t have problem with incomplete books bcos I don’t like to complete books:P Raini, you need to learn to be patient & listen slowly. Normally after 1 chapter, I fall asleep, lol. In Shang Jun, which chapter does Cgege appear? Shang Jun or Who Gets the world is a better audiobook?
Heehee, I stopped at chapter 46 & wanna kiss Cgege, muahaha….I don’t have problem with incomplete books bcos I don’t like to complete books:P Raini, you need to learn to be patient & listen slowly. Normally after 1 chapter, I fall asleep, lol. In Shang Jun, which chapter does Cgege appear? Shang Jun or Who Gets the world is a more interesting book?
definitely who gets the world is better. its because of the girl reader and because its less dry. character wise i like the main girl in world better too.
>< we reading together so we dont knoe where cgege appears. we're reading that harem book. lol
What harem book? Check out my msg to you in past lives post:)
You don’t like to complete books peanuts? Why won’t you like to complete books? *scratch head*
Yeah, haven’t gotten anywhere yet with Shang Jun so can’t say which is better, but I like the start. She is after the king’s head or something, and seems her revenge is the backbone of the story from what I have read so far. I like that kind of character so it’s my own preference hehe xP It makes for an interesting and motivated main protagonist character that drives the plot rather than be like a poor little boat being tossed around in the sea.
I really love Chong Zi as a whole, but that’s my major pet peeve is that she spends a big chunk of the book (1st life) being completely helpless. Of course, that just makes every second of her demon phase all the more satisfy!! I was so HAPPY when Chong Zi told Luo Yin Fan at the end that she might owe everyone, Chu Bu Fu, Qing Ke, Zhuo Hao, even Tian Zi Xue and Wang Yue but she does not owe anything to him. Every hurtful thing she said to him I was cheerleading for. So twisted of me lol
I know I totally giggled half to death at Wang Yue’s last line. It’s so like him to pull a last line like that. I don’t think he has a lot of screen time honestly, but his personality is very strong. I really like him, creepiness and all xP He never fails to make me go o_O. First it’s him offering to take Tian Zi Xue’s place holding her to sleep, and then he starts seeming like he actually wants to have Chong Zi be his queen for real, and then haha that last line is so memorable. He seriously does not get enough love!! I would really have liked to see more of a triangle, but it’s really impossible with how creepy and unsafe he makes Chong Zi. And I’ll never forgive Shu Ke. She never had him take off that stupid hood of his =_=
At least he bothered Luo Yin Fan to the point where he can’t control his jealousy. Luo Yin Fan is so amusing when he’s jealous. But yeah, wishy-washy Chong Zi I would love to see, but please, no more wishy-washiness from Luo Yin Fan.
I KNOW! I wanted to see his face, but I guess that’s part of the fun, isn’t it. Wang Yue is really attractive in his twisted creepy way. You and I are of the same mind. I didn’t really like how helpless Chong Zi was in the first half either, but the second half was AWESOME, so no complaints! I’m still on withdrawal and like you, I’m listening to all the accompaniment tracks and its not helping -_- I don’t mind a sequel as long as it has more Wang Yue and a wishy washy Chong Zi. Jealous LYF I can sit and watch for days! How he got all jealous in the book is just priceless!
I’m afraid I might get caught up to fast in Shang Jun since it’s updating quite slowly. I started the Glass Maiden and it feels like Chong Zi a bit, but I have to balance it out with something because it’s long and a bit dry.
Come & listen to Who Gets the World with me:P If you juggle it with Glass Maiden & slow down a bit, hopefully the book will be finished by the time you catch up. I left a msg to Abu telling him how much I love foxy, lol. Btw, you are good, able to tolerate Glass Maiden bcos that book put me to sleep, haha…I think I don’t like xian xia books but I like the Pillow book. Anyway, I am progressing quite well with Who Gets the World:)
It is ok Atsu, I forgive u, lol. I gonna stop WGTW at chapter 70 & listen to 寡人 since both of u said Cgege is so good, haha…..WGTW production is really good. I feel it is the best sound production I’ve ever heard. But she is slow:( I didn’t listen to this book but I read Chancy’s English translation until chapter 20. Btw atsu, I think you’ve a bad crush on LYF or maybe Abu’s voice, haha….
Hey atsu, you gave up on Past Lives & Glass Maiden?
Ahhhh, Peanuts I think you’re right. But Chu Bu Fu owns my heart remember? 😉 I do love A-Bu’s voice though. It’s the exact opposite of C-gege which makes them perfect for each other heehee!
Past lives you mean 浮生梦三生约? I finished that a long time ago. Was there another one? By the way I never got your message from earlier? Where should I check? I’m taking a break from the Glass Maiden but its awfully hard to get back in……
I’m going to cheerleader on the side when you read 寡人 so you won’t feel lonely 🙂
Haha, that is bcos you didn’t realise your true love is actually LYF but I can see clearer, lol. Btw I gonna use Xmas break to try to pay cxt8 for download & if successful I’ll send you epi 104. My dad has china bank a/c but I’ve not figured out how to use it online. Since I am working, not nice to download fr pirate site so I gonna support the best of Abu & Cgege’s work. If not, later they stop broadcasting:( I don’t think Abu & Cgege are buddies. Not only their voices, their characters are also pole apart. Anyway, I like Cgege better bcos his replies crack me up:P
No, no, that Abu’s book written by vivibear where the girl travels to past lives. There is no way I can send you private msg unless I email you. Thus you need to go to the few books you’ve made comments & check if I’ve made any reply. Chancy, is there a more technological advance way we can check for reply to comment?
Huh, don’t think I need any cheering as it is enough I’ve Cgege to keep me coy, lol. I wonder Cgege will feel happy or terrified that we’ve been constantly making fun of him, lol.
Perhaps….I might be a secret LYF supporter but CBF always owns my heart!! 🙂 I actually like LYF a ton more in the second half and I’m sure you will too if you ever want to finish. And Peanuts, you’re an angel! Thank you!! I’d love to support cxt8 too, but an account in China is just not possible. I wish they could set up an overseas equivalent like paypal or something.
Oh, that past lives book… I sort of dropped it at the third story even though I will get to the fourth story someday because Raini says its good. I don’t know…foreign guys and vampires aren’t exactly my cup of tea. And ahh, okay! I thought you PM’d me, and I was looking all over this site for a PM function but didn’t see any and panicked!
And I’m sure C-gege will be proud and honored to have such an honored fan base. We should tell him there’s a whole group of his fans that don’t even live in China ^^!
I’ll swing back to Chong Zi during xmas break just to find out if it is as good as all of your profess:P I feel like an oddball, lol. Don’t thank me prematurely as I am not sure I can set up my dad’s china bank a/c online banking successfully:( Btw, I don’t understand what cxt8 wrote. By paying RMB15, I can become a VIP? Then I can listen to all the books & download 5 completed VIP books by batch monthly? This VIP is continuous, cannot become a VIP one mth then revert to non VIP then bcome VIP again in other mths?
I did leave a msg for Cgege abt having fans overseas but he doesn’t sound really thrill. Probably he is thinking, all these pirate fans as he knows there is no way we’ve china a/c to pay, lol. Fr the few comments I left on cxt8 website, I feel A’shou gave the most warm & appreciative reply.
I started Cgege’s Guaren last night & as usual fell asleep after 1 chapter, lol. Bcos I used playlist & earphone so it kept on running till Cgege woke me up in the morning, haha..Normally I’ll switch it off in the middle of the night but this time I didn’t so I slept with Cgege’s voice throughout the night, lol. This book is ok, light & funny but I still like WGTW best.
u cant download with VIP. u can only stream unlimited. there is an alipay thing that is international but i cant understand the instructions to load money internationally.
VIP会员可享有单集试听5折特权. This line doesn’t mean download 5 books? Since I gonna have unlimited stream, what is this 5 thingy abt? So confusing. They should have used paypal. Don’t know what is alipay. Everything online in mainland is diff, a rip-off of the western world:(
I think it says that VIPs will have a 50% discount on single chapter streaming? 试听 is weird, what’s test listening?
this sentence is “Those who were supposed to be “good” had tortured/killed/attempted to rape her ” . Who was attempted to rape her. please spoil to me.
A minor character, a disciple from the Tian Shan sect attempted to rape CZ while she was in captivity there, all chained up with her bones broken:( I think Yan Zhen Zhu, her good friend came on time to rescue her & killed or seriously hurt that jerk. I forgot his name but he is really bad trying to hit on CZ then on Sima Miao Yuen, an annoying & snooty fellow disciple who thinks she is pretty & from a powerful background, just bcos they look pretty.
Seems like you like xian xia novel. Another similar kind is When Spring Ends, I’ll See you Again. Can you understand Mandarin? If yes, try the audiobooks. If not, read Three Lives Three Worlds English translation, also some sort of xian xia novels. If you are desperate, you can copy & paste into google for English translation. Although it is bad, you can still make out the gist of the story with the summary provided here. If in doubt, drop us a comment.
lovechinesenovel, I think peanuts’s explanation is correct. I read it so long ago so my memory is a bit hazy.
I think there is another rape attempt. When CZ reincarnates again, Luo Yin Fan uses his power to hide CZ’s evil energy. CZ is imprisoned for some offense (don’t remember what) and someone sneaks into the prison to assault her. When she struggles to fight back, her evil energy is unleashed and people realize she has not died but has reincarnated.
Peanuts, I can’ t understand Mandarin. And thank you for suggestion.
lidge, Thank you for your clear and helpful explanation.
I’m around chapter 50 of the audiobook and it’s driving me crazy how helpless CongZi is. Chu Bu Fu died. Did the Shu Ke just kill off the best character in the novel?! I really love Chu Bu Fu and his transition to becoming a ‘mo’. I’d like to believe he fell for Chong Zi as time progressed ever since he saved her after hearing that she would return to him because he was being threatened 🙁 AHH IM SO SAD THEY KILLED HIM OFF. I’m a sucker for bad boys XD
I really enjoyed this novel! All of the supporting male characters were awesome! I think Luo Yin Fan redeemed himself at the veryyyyy end of the novel. It was really late, but better late than never right. The pacing is horrible though, Chong Zi’s first two lives as LYF’s disciple was so slow and dull. On top of that she was helpless at first, then annoying second. Her transition to a ‘mo’ was the most interesting part of the novel but then I felt like it passed by too quickly! I could use some more of LYF finding his memory again and sacrificing more for her. Compared to everyone else he did nothing -_-
On to the supporting guys. Chu Bu Fu was best! No matter what anyone says, I will always believe he fell for Chong Zi, since he only explained that he was trying to save his shi mei, never stating that he actually loved her. Too bad they couldn’t spend a longer time together 🙁 Next would be Tian Zhi Xe (Mu Yu), even if he planned all of those things to get her to become a ‘mo’. He really cared for her the most, and at the end when he was going to take her and run away, how was that not love. He knew he was going to die if he betrays the ‘mo shen’, but he did it anyways. And it’s lovely that Chong Zi can be at peace in his arms. He’ll always have a special place in her heart. Loved that part where she called out his name while in LYF’s embrace, he totally deserved it. I love seeing a jealous LYF, we needed more of that especially after all of his holier-than-thou kind of attitude for the entire novel. Then we’d probably get to Qing Ke who died for Chong Zi to protect her from LYF. It was such a touching moment 🙁 All of the evil ‘xian’ classified girls got what they deserved after scheming after Chong Zi all of that time.
All in all, it was really well written. It was a different feel compared to other three lives books. But I especially loved the ending, it was really satisfying! I found it weirded out that Chong Zi still called Luo Yin Fan, shifu… same with Yin Shui Xian.
I’m totally in love with Bu Lan De now. What a hot voice @_@ I’m stuck between starting Hua Qian Gu or San Qian He Xia by 14lang. Oh and anything recommendations for good audiobooks/ novels? I saw another one by Bu Lan De, it’s called Huang Ba Ye. But it seems like it’s not a happy ending…
Yo AcrossTime, welcome to the Bu Lan De’s fan club, lol. But you gonna run down his stock soon:P Just listen to HQG & 3000 Crows bcos you’ll get to them eventually lol. Give me a yell when you’ve finished both & I’ll try to dig out more for you but don’t be too fast:P
In Huang Ba Ye, BLD has only supporting role:( Hence, he won’t get the girl:( The male lead is the broadcaster for Huang Chao, lol. Yup, he is getting his revenge on losing Bai Feng Xi, lol.
Glad you like CZ but I don’t:( I couldn’t even finish the book, stopped at chapter 80. I just hate shifu/teacher:P HQG is quite similar to CZ. You can write a thesis to compare and contrast them later lol.
Hi May i know where i can read this book?
Updated the ebook link on top.
Totally psyched for this one… It sounds similar to hue qian Gu which I liked. 🙂 is the Chinese really complicated in this one? My Chinese is crap so I’m not sure if I will be able to handle this one…
No need to read, listen to the good quality audio book 😛
Does anyone know what the title of this novel is called in Viet?
Trọng Tử by Thục Khách
I still remember all the angst!
SPOILER ALERT!!!!
Omg! I totally get what u mean about Wang Yue. Deeeeepppp down inside the empty cave I call my heart, a tiny piece of me wanted Chong Zi to go with Wang Yue to the demon god place thingy. Lols. Wish there was more jealous Luo Ying Fan. It’s really adorbs. Especially when he thinks of Wang Yue calling Chong Zi His empress!
I totally wanted to see Wang Yues face…. but I have a feeling that it’ll be creepy since his “eye” is on his finger…. maybe he doesn’t have eyeballs and that’s why he wears the hat?
Omg! I just found this on the Web and I’m so excited to read it. I’m not sure if it’s been mentioned but it’s like a mini Chong Zi epilogue book. Has anyone read it yet? I think it’s called 魔神歸來。
恩兒

Does anyone know if there is a Vietnamese audio book for this? Reading is not my strongest point. Took me forever to read through chapter 1 in Vietnamese. I can assume that this novel is popular so has anyone found the vietnamese audio book? thanks in advance 😀
Hello! I just joined the c-novel bandwagon. Suffice to say, I’m addicted. First time listening to audiobooks too. Lost sleep over Princess Weiyang! Super thankful to you guys for letting me discover all these awesome books!
Did a marathon of Chong Zi last night and since I read a long the audiobook, I also encountered the issue with the missing chapter. By any chance, does anyone have it?
