Hello,
First, I need to say sorry if I’m about to say is out of topic but can I request one of my lifetime dream book from you. Can I request one book name (可惜不是你 It’s unfortunate that it is not you (HE) – 叶紫 Ye Zi) ? It really means lot to me and I found many sources but couldn’t find any web that have this book. Pls, tell me back if you can help me with this one or not. Thank you So much
I received a request to post this book. Unfortunately, I don’t share her sentiment. At best, this is a mediocre novel who tried too hard to emulate or imitate Silent Separation. Even with a very good audio book with many CVs, I still cannot get into the novel or feel much for the characters. In part, it is because the author’s writing skill is lacking. Silent Separation also has a paper thin plot but Gu Man’s writing & some of her classic lines left a lasting impression on me.
The characters in this novel are also annoying especially the female lead. If she had decided to move on, she shouldn’t look back. If she can’t move on, she shouldn’t accept the 2nd male lead. I feel sorry for the 2nd male lead bcos I feel more for him than the 1st male lead. In contrast, Mo Sheng never gave Ying Hui a chance and neither did I 😛 Well, you can argue that one needs to be realistic in life. That is true but I am reading a romance novel so I expect my leads to be faithful and devoted, never give up even in the face of loneliness & despair.
Also, the reason why Xiang Hui left is so silly. Why can’t he tell her or contact her while he was aboard? At least, there was a breakdown in communication between Yi Chen & Mo Sheng. Thus, unfortunately, not this novel.
I honestly don’t think this novel deserves to be adapted into a drama. Maybe the plot in the drama will be better & more satisfying. Unfortunately, I don’t know the relatively young cast well enough to give it a try.
I am sorry if my opinion differs from you but all of us are entitled to our own opinion. If you think this kind of story is your cup of tea, do give it a try & you might end up liking it.
Btw, we don’t take request for translation or book posting in SSB. I did this because I was planning to post this novel a long time ago but never got to it. My memory is also fading so I might have gotten some of the storylines wrong.
FYI, the author & the female lead in this novel shares the same name 🙂
Oh, I nearly forgot to mention the song with the same name by Fish Leong is rather nice, at least nicer than the novel 😛
Watched the show and lasted till episode 4. The male lead seems a little pushy for my taste – the female lead didn’t mind. But yeah I agree with peanuts. The story seems a little flat. Main guy appears whenever the female lead needs help and the female lead seems to be perpetually embarrassed about one thing or another..
