The tragic and joyful lives of the six sisters of the He family, He Jia Li, He Jia Wen, He Jia Yi, He Jia Huan, Liu Xiao Ling, and He Jia Xi from the 1950s to the early 21st century in a small southern town (Huainan, Anhui), highlighting the different kinds and strengths of women in these changing times, reflecting on the changes in the family lives of ordinary people after the founding of New China.
