  • This book is a very lovely read. It's purely historical with no fantasy elements such as time travel or rebirth. Its maturity and unpretentious quality are what separate it from the recent pack of books I tried to read. The MC is the sole survivor of a fallen aristocratic family. She has been married for five years at the start of the novel, at which point the tyrant general takes her away from that marriage and makes her his son's wife since her surname is still highly respected by the literari he is trying to subdue. Let's just say that her father-in-law is full of crap but I very much approve of this marriage ;-) male lead is dubbed "scoundrel" by his wife but in that case, I do not want a gentleman :D highly recommended

  • Thanks for your recommendation. I just finished this book & enjoyed it a lot. I will be checking out this author's other books. Which will you suggest to read first?

  • @hamster428 Just started listening to the audiobook and I'm up to the part where the male lead goes off to war (early chapters). Can you give me some spoilers in regards to their relationship? Like when are they actually going to start spending time together instead of him leaving her all alone? =.= Thanks!

  • @misctalk this is the only book from this author that I've read so I can't help with recommendations.

@xnekox I can't remember the specific chapter number, but it's after she sees her ex again. It shouldn't be too long I don't think.

  • @misctalk, there are few books from the same author such as 孤王甚慰 (Gu Wang Shen Wei), 暮春之令 (Mù Chūn Zhī Lìng), 春莺啭 (Chūn Yīng Zhuàn) and 淑女好逑 (Shu Nu Hau Chiu).

@hamster, thank you for the recommendation. I am currently listening to the audiobook.
