Ming Xi never ever expected, that just by reading a simple, chick-lit novel, she would transmigrate into the novel and assume the role of the main antagonist of the novel!

Ming Xi’s younger sister, who was supposed to fight tooth and nail with Ming Xi for her entire life, somehow transformed into someone with an overwhelming desire to protect Ming Xi; the fiercest female hooligan in class, who was supposed to dedicate all her efforts into driving Ming Xi out of school, somehow became Ming Xi’s best friend; and when the school attempted to transfer Ming Xi from her current class to the best class that was populated with geniuses, her entire class signed a petition protesting the school’s decision, and was waiting for him – the final person who hasn’t signed the petition – to join them in their petition.

Yes, they must certainly be crazy.
And yet, Yin Shao Chen one month later —
“Ming Xi, I truly want to focus on my studies and improve my grades, so could you please tutor me? How do I solve this problem?”
Ming Xi cast a quick glance at the problem, “Thankfully, you are able to recognize numbers, otherwise, I might have to start by teaching you the basic multiplication table.”
Yin Shao Chen, who was purposefully masking his actual ability in front of Ming Xi – Am I making too many mistakes on purpose? What if Ming Xi thinks that I’m some kind of buffoon?
Ah, so what if she thinks I’m dumb? Even if she asks for my life, I’d gladly give it to her.

Unfortunately, I really didn’t like Hey, That Transfer Student! (嘿，那个转校生), and was really struggling to finish it for the longest time. Set in a modern school setting, Hey, That Transfer Student! details the gradual development of the relationship between our female lead Ming Xi (who had transmigrated from the real world into a “rebirth” novel and assumed the role of the evil, second female lead), and our male lead Yin Shao Chen (who had experienced a “rebirth” after he had suffered a horrible death at the hands of the original evil, second female lead).
Given the enmity and feud between the male lead and the original Ming Xi, the male lead and the female lead (unsurprisingly) start off on fairly unfriendly terms, with the female lead, having finished reading majority of the novel in reality, being well aware of the male lead’s enmity towards her (and the “revenge” which the male lead was supposed to exact on the original Ming Xi for her evil deeds) and wanting nothing more but to stay away from the male lead as much as possible, and the male lead constantly being suspicious about the female lead’s intentions. Although the premise is relatively interesting, the novel falls far short of execution, with the storyline being unnecessarily draggy (especially when the development of the main characters AND the side characters are nothing short of boring). In addition, the lack of excitement in the storyline is further amplified by the female lead having some sort of magical “golden touch / golden finger” such that everything that the female lead did was exceptionally smooth and successful. For instance, the female lead, aside from being exceptionally beautiful, could also easily ace her examinations and top the entire cohort without having to put in much effort in her studies – so much so that the “original” female lead paled in comparison to her, even though such “original” female lead was equipped with a “system” which allowed her to become prettier, and smarter, every single time she completed a mission.
Am generally of the view that one could afford to give this a miss – I had to really reach into my inner discipline to summon the strength necessary for me to complete this novel (because I hate reading novels halfway, and I don’t feel comfortable reviewing / rating a novel if I hadn’t completed it beforehand).
