I am a princess, moreover, I am a fool of a princess.
Born in the imperial palace, my appearance is as average as that of the white radish and cabbages in the fields. Throughout the four seasons of the year, my face is always displaying a dull expression, eyes forever shrouded in haze.
But in reality, I know of the secrets within this palace.
Including hers, his, and theirs.
Just leisurely living my days comfortably in the palace like this, I firmly believe I can continue to play dumb to the end.

The novel was above average in the writing and plot department, but I disliked the characters. I was also uncomfortable with the way our male leads (yes, each and everyone of them) forced themselves on our mc. Btw, it’s not just oh-I’m-playing-coy-deny, she clearly tells him ‘no’ and legit struggles against his advances but he continues. The plot drags and becomes predictable near the middle and end (ish).
But giving credit where it is due, I loved the female mc. Generally, I stay away from aloof and passive protagonists but this one is so well-written that it’s hard to not like her. Also, the fact that all the male leads are controlling, selfish aholes is consistent with their upbringing in rich, powerful families. Ofc, all of them are supplied appropriate angsty stories to cover their distasteful behaviour in present.
It did turn out to be more of a rant than review. Regardless of my peeves, I will still recommend this solely due to the female lead. The supporting characters are also quite well-fleshed out and were quite endearing in their own right. But the feminist in me, even the one used to secondary status of women in historical novels and actual history, couldn’t digest the idea a partner who can’t respect the wishes of their other half. Especially for someone as smart and unique as the female lead here.
