As the left protector of the Demon Sect, and being so “honoured” to be seen as the successor by her crazy Demon Sect leader…… ah, to be honest, she’s someone who rather just lead an idle life, but… sigh, her luck has always not been good.
When she was ten, the Demon Sect leader bestowed upon her a handsome sect servant (they are called Sky Slaves (天奴)), in order to survive, she and her sky slave never parted from then on, cooperating perfectly, he even promised he would follow her for one life, one lifetime… what a one life, one lifetime!
Ah… it’s only a beautiful back, there’s nothing important about it, she shall be generous and not ask the person to take responsibility. Who knew that she’s generous but the other person is stubborn, insisting on having her as an adopted sister! Adopted sister? She once heard that the Cloud Family has a bad practice in the “Jiang Hu” (literally rivers and lakes, but indicating the pugilist world).
— Ah! She has miscalculated! Miscalculated! Once she met the charismatic but poisonous heavenly man, can she make a full retreat?

This is an old c-novel that I chanced across again and I realised I had read it and loved it long ago, and knew I had to share it. This belongs to the genre of "star-crossed" lovers - female lead is part of the Demon Sect, while the male lead is seen as the beacon of righteousness in the Central Plains, but what is awesome about this is that both leads are too COOL to be tied down by silly stuff like identity and it's mostly funny and kick-ass most of the way through.
There are poignant and heart-breaking parts but the ending is so OMG GOOD, that I give this c-novel an unreserved 5 stars.
See for full review and translation of the second prologue where the female and male leads first meet: http://onesecondspring.blogspot.sg/2014/04/gentleman-free-floating-cloud-by-yu.html
This sounds nice. If anyone can point me to a Viet title for this book, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.
Ok, bongsd found u the Viet link, enjoy.
Thank you, Decembi, for this recommendation. I have used your link to 19lou.com to 'read' the text via Google translate, but kept getting the "sorry, but you have exceed your access..." message. Any idea how I could overcome this to read the rest of the chapters? Thank you once again. This site had led to my new addiction to c-novels (despite not being able to read Chinese, LOL).
Thanks peanuts and bongsd forthe Viet link!
Hey Dreamer, try this alternate link:

Hope it helps :)
Decembi, many thanks! The new link works. I am now "reading" it line by line. Love Google translate.
Am an avid follower of both your onesecondspring, hui3r/peanut's and hamster's blog pages. A big heartfelt thanks to you guys for sharing all your hardwork. Cheers!
You posted this!! omg. I was about to post another book by the same author called a "A woman called Shun Hua". Ha, ha.
I have read this book and I will also recommend it to others. Yu Qing has written a series on this, but Master Xian Yun predates the others by order of birth. I especially love the female lead who is probably one of the most reluctant females you can come across. She is clever, spunky, and if she has one big wish, it isprobably to be able to live on. But her life is difficult especially when you have a crazy Master who keep setting her up and putting her in danger. Hope the others will love this as well. Thanks for posting this!
p/s: Do check with me if you want to read her other books for I have read most of them.
Hey Dreamer, welcome! It's a joy to share :)
Hey Moonblossom, hahahaha! Hilarious. Will be excited to check out your post on A Woman Called Shun Hua. I'm re-reading the Cloud Family series now. I've actually read most of Yu Qing's series, but not her single books. For taiwan authors, eight out of ten, I think I must have read a book from their repertoire before haha.
Hahaha! I know what you mean about the reluctance. I think her reluctance is written very well - it's very true, she never wanted any of this, power, fame, etc - she just wants a simple life. I love her intelligence and courage when it comes to the crunch, which is much better written than some other c-novels when the female lead time travels and is so lazy and sloth-like that I get irritated haha.
Oh, do share which is your favourite Yu Qing novel! I think Gentleman Free Floating Cloud is probably my fave!
You can check out "A Woman Called Shun Hua" in the drafts now. It is my favourite book by Yu Qing and it is actually book 2 out of a trilogy. The 3 books can be read independently because they occur in different time zones. Book 1 就是皇后 (Born To Be Empress) is also very good but book 3 南临阿奴 (Nan Ning Slave Girl) is not so good.
Among the Cloud series, I also like 春香说 (So Speaks Chun Xiang) but would skip 一鸣天下 (A Sound that Rocks the World) and 妖神兰青 (Demon God Lan Qing). By luck, I read Gentleman Free-Floating Cloud first so the other books make slightly more sense.
Have you read 裘梦 (Qiu Meng books) as well? I like all her Wuxia books but dislike all her Court Officials books. The heros are all the same - handsome plus top puligist or top healer or both - and the plot is very simple, but light hearted.
Thanks so much for the recommendations!!! I will definitely check them out. The thing is Book 1 sounds very familiar, so I might have read that before.
Actually I followed the order haha, I read A Sound That Rocks the World (I've translated it previously as To Shock The World With One Cry haha) first before reading Gentleman Free-Floating Cloud. I definitely like Gentleman more, because I prefer light-hearted sassy main leads but I also enjoyed A Sound That Rocks the World. I actually teared and was quite touched at *SPOILER* the moment when the female lead decides to risk her life once and for all and take the other poison to resolve the main poison *END SPOILER*.
Definitely, A Sound That Rocks The World is very messily written and rather convoluted because the timelines are all not chronological and one may find it hard to root for the main leads, but I still like it enough to rate it 4 stars. I find it so cute that the male lead wrote the female lead tons of letters, but never sent them HAHA. I am a sucker for male leads who write letters.
Qiu Meng sounds very familiar but I think I need titles to jot my memory. Most of these books I read two to three years ago! Haha. My favourite taiwanese author is Gu Ling (古灵)
