Yun Fu’s young mistress is weak and cowardly. After having her engagement broken off within the Jin Luan Dian, she kills herself by hitting her head upon a pillar.
When she wakes up, she is no longer feeble and is now cold and aloof making people terrified of her upon sight. She walks unhurriedly into the bloody hall and her chilly voice slowly resounds, “Then we can comply to Chen Wang’s wishes.”
Everybody knows that the young mistress’s personality has taken a drastic turn after the events within the palace but none of them could ever guess that her spirit has been replaced.
A foreign environment where everybody has sinister and ulterior motives, where plots and schemes plague the families, where disputes permeate government affairs; she who has been raised in a boudoir seems harmless enough.
What happens if she is no longer soft and timid? What if, in between a single smile, she can raise forth wind and rain reeking of blood and terror?
Yun Fu – The official residence of the Yun family. Only government officials and wealthy families have a ‘Fu’ since they’re massive and can usually house a few hundred people.

[Ebook] [Eng Translation (Chapters 1- 73)(Chapters 74- 144)(Chapters 145-on)] [Audiobook] [Sở Vương Phi][초왕비]
I fully give gratitude to those translators who offered their time, effort and dedications to translate C-novels thus promoting the appreciations and support of C-novels however it would have been much better for some translators not to start what they cannot finished . I hope not to offend anyone .
This was one of the first Chinese online novels I read, and what got me really hooked onto Chinese novels. Be warned though, it is long and addictively full of plot twists!
I finished reading this novel.the relationship between Yun qian meng and the Chu fei yang (the left prime minister) is cute and sweet.Its a happy ending.
The storyline is great.
Is there a vietbook version of this?
Looks really interesting. I hope another translator picks it up T___T
Ly: google for sở vương phi by ninh nhi. I will try to update links this weekend.
Am ploughing through the Chinese ebook with my minimal Chinese after picking up the English translation (Maybe the author of this site should move this translation to under hiatus instead of ongoing because I think the translator probably got caught up with real life and might not be continuing the translation anymore?) …
What I really liked about this novel is how the main leads keep trouncing all the villains around them and getting the upper hand. Who said that for a drama or novel to be interesting you must have a doormat heroine suffering countless abuse making readers/viewers frustrated? They are such an intelligent power couple together and best of all no mercies for those who don’t deserve them never mind who they are! Wish they would make this into a drama.
My first post here and thank you for this site which helps me to discover interesting c-novels which I wouldn’t have known of otherwise. =)
i love this novel. couldnt put t down!
AND I TOTALLY AGREE!! it is quite annoying when the heroine suffers a bunch of abuse and pretends to be all forgiving. TOTALLY SHIPPING THE POWER COUPLE TOO!!!!
My fave character is the male leads grandpa (Chu Wang). he is so damn adorable especially when he is with the female lead. I love how hes adorable/silly vs intelligent/serious at the right times. I wanna give him a pack of almonds and pat him on the head….
Wow! This novel is full of amazing characters – so many male leads that have their own redeeming qualities. It is really interesting and there are plenty of super sweet “aw” moments.
The audiobooks don’t cover the entire story so eventually you’d have to start reading the ebook. I finished the audiobooks and started to read the actual ebook but it is a very, very long novel. I think that it will take quite some time to finish! Lots of interesting twists and little plot arcs that help with the over arching plot.
i didnt realize how long this novel is….
still working at it… on chapter 129…. still 200 something chapters to go,,,,
Love this book! Spend 1 month reading it, but totally worth it!
This book is amazing so far!! If anyone has the link to the full viet version, please share! …I wish I could read Chinese..aahh
When does the male lead appear? Am at chap 20+ and only saw him once. Watching her deal with the concubines now hahaha.
Hi can anyone tell me what happened to the 海君主? what happened to the female’s lead stepmother 苏姨娘?.
This story is good but too long am still trying to read it but only manage up to chapter 50.
Listening to the audio book track 46. Still waiting for the male lead to appear properly…
@Caranglc
SPOILER – 苏姨娘 becomes pregnant. She pins her hopes on a son, but she experiences a difficult birth (the female lead finds an old maid who witnessed the death of her mother & twin brother at 苏姨娘 ‘s direction and makes sure that 苏姨娘 knows that the maid is now in her home; the female lead’s grandmother hates 苏姨娘 but returns to the estate because the female lead’s father needs to prove his filial piety as an official and makes a mess during the birth), and her daughter accidentally twists the son’s arm off while trying to drag him out of her.
The female lead’s father is…furious at the disfigurement of his long-awaited son. The female lead becomes the “favourite” daughter because she let the grandmother do the dirty work (visiting 苏姨娘’s home during the birth and harassing the midwives, etc.) and didn’t directly do/say anything.
The 海君主 is pledged in a treaty marriage to a foreign prince. I didn’t keep reading after the leads got married, so I don’t know if the marriage actually took place.
Thank you So much @Apricity
I honestly never expected myself to survive such a LONG book since I tried reading a book of similar length and eventually gave up. I did not expect much when I first started reading this book but I ended up being so surprised because I found “gold”!
楚王妃 is a really really great book! I kept on thinking how in the world did the author managed to write a book of such great quality (to me). The main character, 楚王妃, is a woman of great wit, strength and endurance. It takes quite a while before you reach the love story between her and 楚王 (there are hints here and there before their love story but it’s not much because they don’t really interact that much), but I can assure you that you will be greatly entertained with how 楚王妃 handle her enemies within her own household. I was totally and greatly impressed by her.
A lot of drama, but what you will see is not break-ups or misunderstandings, instead it would be how the couple work together and get rid of their enemies (they are a really sweet and lovely couple). The author not only focuses on the love story between 楚王妃 and 楚王, she also weaves the story of the court battle in.
If you understand Chinese, don’t be daunted by the length of the book and give it a try. I can assure you that 楚王妃 is a book that is worth your time and energy.
If anyone knows where to buy this book please do tell me… I tried finding it online but it’s like out of stock and I have limited info on ordering Chinese books online…
http://product.dangdang.com/22911868.html
I fell in love with this book. It’s now one my top 1 most favorite book. Are there more books of this author that can be recomended?
its so long… i gave up reading after the leads got married too… University life was calling…
maybe someone will do a summary of the last remaining thousand something chapters? lols.. it felt like there were at least thousand chapters left to mee…..
First time I felt compelled to leave a comment here. The author’s style was a little annoying at first (unnecessarily detailed and repeated description of each flourish, gesture, maid’s curtseying, maidens blushing), and I didn’t like how each paragraph ended with an exclamation mark (!!). I waded through all that only cos of the many good reviews of this book. Managed to persevere past the marriage between the leads, but the book and plot twists seems endless. Am now considering giving up although I am at chapter 183. To know that there are another 200+ chapters makes me wonder if I should go spend my time on another book instead.
Ummm… Is it okay that I translate some scenes from Chu Wang Fei?
Yes please do, would love to read it. Thanks before
How many chapters does Chu Wang Fei have?
@sassymiss
387 if I’m not wrong. But the chapters get longer and longer as you progress. Like chap 100+ is actually 3-4 times the length of chap 1
Can someone tell me when the male lead really starts to appear in the audio? Thxxxxx
I saw that there are two different sets of covers. What is a difference? or is it 4 volumes?
@Flora
It’s a 4 volume book
@ peach
Thank you. I am just a very beginner in Chinese language. But this might be my gold in study ^_^. It’s interesting and I like happy ending with no misunderstanding scene between lead characters.
How do you listen to the audiobook on my phone? There’s no play button anywhere no matter what number I press
I also cant listen on my phone so I use the computer 🙂
Hi! I am new to the site. Happened to chance upon this and decided to try the recommended text. Took me a fortnight before I finished the entire book! Haha. Nearly gave up halfway at chapter 164.
I like the story for its two leads who are active participants in the marriage and not a typical damsel in distress story. Although towards the end, the plot can be a tad convoluted, it does present a good read. Am now searching for a new book to read. Any recommendations?
I have already translated a scene from chap 91-92. Will be translating more scenes to keep u guys occupied before rosyfantasy finishes translating the whole bookbhahaha
I’ve been listening to the audiobook, and so far, I am up to chapter 183 of the audiobook. Phew! This story is long, and I even skipped the first 49 chapters and started listening at chapter 50! Anyway, I am amazed at the endless subplots and millions of characters.
It seems like almost all the nobility, whether male or female, in the story are gorgeous people, especially the women. Every new female character is described as beautiful to the point that she could bring about the downfall of a country. I find it interesting, though, that all these women, with the exception of Yun Qian Meng (female lead), Qu Fei Qin (her older female cousin), and Consort Rong, are backstabbing, malicious, status-hungry people. Of course, the female lead is no angel herself. She’s like an extremely delicate, beautiful bloom, but filled with poison if you tick her off. 😛
The men all sound like handsome, dashing guys, which I have no problem with. 😀 Almost every woman in the story wants to marry either Chu Fei Yang or Chen Wang. 😛
I’m not sure how long I can persist with this story. It’s just so long! Can someone who has already finished the entire story give me some spoilers?
1) I’m a bit curious about Chen Wang. He seems to deeply regret his decision to break off his betrothal with Yun Qian Meng. What happens to Chen Wang in the end? Does he marry someone else? How much in love is he with the female lead?
2) What happens to Rong Yun He (the third male lead who also likes Yun Qian Meng) in the end? I like him, too. He is such a gentleman.
3) When does the main couple get married? Does Chen Wang try to stop the wedding?
4) What happens to Qu Fei Qin? I think she falls in love with a young imperial physician. Do they have a happy ending?
5) What happens to Qu Chang Qin? I quite like him, too.
6) Can someone give a brief summary of what happens after the main couple marries?
Thanks!
Oh no… the spoiler tag didn’t work! Sorry to anyone who read my previous comment and didn’t want to be spoilt…
I fixed the spoiler 🙂 that was a long spoiler!
Thanks for the spoilers, peach!
@Melanie
Thanks again for the spoilers, peach!
@ly : The Việt translation at https://nguocaitantam2.wordpress.com/so-vuong-phi/ is up to Chapter 131 but has not been updated since 1/7/2015
There is a group on the Bách Ngọc Sách forum that is currently translating. They’re up to chapter 141. Last update was 2 days ago, so I’m assuming that they’ll continue 🙂
You can read even if you don’t have an account for the forum.

@Melanie Welcome 🙂
Thanks for all the spoilers. I am reading the book using Google translate. Helps me understand a bit.
I read up to the part where Chu Fei Yang thwarted his father’s nefarious plans, and then skipped to the end. Too long! Nice plot twists, but like Curio, the overly detailed descriptions wore me down. I want to go back and read the back story of Concubine Rong and the Bei Qi Crown Prince. Does anyone know what chapter that is in?
Anyway, about Princess Hai Tian:
Hi! I’m new here and currently inlove with the novel.
Can someone confirm if the audiobook is in chinese or english?
Also can someone help me? I was viewing the audiobook in my desktop and kept clicking the play button but it won’t load. I can’t download it either. Otherwise, can someone give me a different link in the audiobook? Thanks!!
@LuLu
I’m so glad you like the novel. I love it as well although I never finished because of its length but I have recently picked it up again and I intend on finishing it this time. The audiobook is in Chinese and there are almost 400 episodes out already but it’s still not finished so unfortunately, at some point you’re going to have to read it instead.
For listening online: http://www.cxt8.com/static/chapter_5858/
For downloading: http://www.ysx8.net/yousheng/down16577.html
It was kind of slow for me to download. I didn’t get a very good connection to the server (probably because it’s in China?).
I hope you continue to enjoy the book!
Cheers!
Hi Tea.Thyme! Thanks for your reply! 🙂
I see.. I can’t understand mandarin.. Sigh. I kept delaying learning it in school bec of the characters and the google translation just makes my head hurt urg.. :((
I guess I’ll just wait for the english translations. But thanks though! Have a nice day! I plan on finish reading the book. Yun Qian Meng and Chu wang (the grandfather) makes my day! Chu wang is so funny! 😀
Can someone recommend me a good translator? Is google translate the closest in translating the original text?
Thanks!! 😀
Hi Tea.Thyme! Thanks for the info!
I see. I can’t understand mandarin. I want to learn but I think learning it in the proper way in school is better than learning it myself..
I’m currently reading it in english translation from rose and I kept rereading it lol. Chu wang (grandfather) is my favorite. He is so funny! :))
Thanks again for the info and have a nice day! 🙂
Btw is there a good translator app or site or google translate is the closest translation to the novel?
Thanks!
Is there really that limited of the audionovel. I can’t read chinese I’m in trouble.
Hey, does anyone know what happened to Yun qian meng’s two male cousins? They left after their father got in trouble. I know what happened to their sister, but I’m worried about those two. Also, anyone willing to spoil me about Chu fei yang’s siblings? What happens to them?
Hi, just recently read the translation by Rosyfantasy and loves this novel very much.
Very grateful if anybody can help to describe in more detail the scenes when:
1. Chu Fei Yang asked for Yun Qian Meng’s hand in front of the emperor
2. Chen Wang’s scene when he kidnapped YGM to marry her
Thanks!
@Mega
So this is what happen
1. Chu Fei Yang asking to marry Yun Qian Meng
2. Chen Wang’s kidnapping scene
@11thagent
Many thanks for the feedback and detailed description. Chen wang must really be pissed off to death … haha. I kind of feel sorry for that guy, he lost something and do everything that he can to get it back but failed time and time again …
I really hope I can read and understand Chinese…
Google translate is horrible! Can’t understand at all what they’re translating
Can’t wait to read the detailed event from Rosyfantasy’s translation ^^
Thanks again!
I’m following rosyfantasy’s translation of this and the latest chapter out is 69 which is when Yun Qian Meng goes to Hai Wang’s mansion. And omg the curiosity is killing me! Not sure how many chapters till we get to the showdown with Hai Tian but if someone can help with a few questions I’d be really grateful(I’m dying from really wanting to know):
1.It seems Yun Qian Meng is quite skillful with musical instruments. How good is she and does she play in public often in later chapters?
2.What happens in Hai Wang fu(Hai Tian v YQM)?
3.I read somewhere that Chu Fei Yang says something about how he’ll only have YQM as his wife. Not sure if it’s at a feast or something. Can someone describe that scene?
Many thanks!
Ho!…it seems the reason her father went to jail and framed was because of her marriege??…But what happened to all the female members of the family (like her 2 sisters and cousin?…did they go nto jail too?…if not where did they live?)
Also did she get her drowny when she married into the chu family? (with all the kiddnaping and jail time going on i doubt they had time xDD)
Also how come her evil sister covered for her? (i mean she got married with chen wang and i dont think she would do her sister any favors )
@akkn
1. YQM is in afct not so good with musical instruments. She only learned a little when her mother forced hee. But she chose the right song masking her skills. Everyone believed that she is better than hai tian while thats not true.
2. Hai Tian will try to fall into the lake pretendinf YQM pushed her but YQM saw through her scheme and fell into the water herslef making Hai Tian the suspect of pushing her.
3. The scene where Chu Fei Yang say that is way more later in book. At that time they are already married but girls kept coming at Chu Fei Yang.
@pink
Het father went to jail because he was accused of helping his nephews on the literary exam. The whole yun family got into jail.
Chu fei yang helped her bring her downry to chu xiangfu after they were married.
The sister didnt cover for her. She was exchanged with YQM while in jail. She agreed to the plan because its chen wang she is marrying.
@1314dreamer and @pink
Actually I don’t think her sister consented to anything. She sort of found herself in that situation, and tried to go with it. After all, it would mean she married higher than YQM and to one of the most sought out bachelor.
At least that is what I took from it. I haven’t finished the book yet, but I’m 75% through, so if there is anymore information later on, then I guess I’m wrong.
Wait did YGM went to jail too? D: …but she is a girl!!… how did she get out?
Also what happened to her sister after she got married to Chen Wang…he must have not been happy about it xD
Wait did YQM wnt to prison too? (but she is a girl!!) ….if she did how did she manage to get out? (was her father cleared of the accusations?) …Also if he didnt how could she marry chu as his main wife since their statuses are so diffrent? …also did their marriege cause a reaction from other people ? ….The chu couple must be very addorable together <3 (power couples ftw!!) …I cant wait for the tl to reach that part *-*
Oh btw what happened after chen wang married her stupid sister? …He must have lost so much face that night XD (did he kill her afterwards?)
(sorry if i double posted by accident orz)
@pink
I’m listening to the audiobook so don’t know if there is a difference….
Pfff….So YQM was living comftambly somewhere while the rest of her family was in jail xD (that sound just like her )…so if i got this right …Chu wang got both YQM and her stupid sister out of jail and exchanged them? (where was she living?) (i read somewhere that chen wang resqued YQM (sister) from a burning building and threatened her with marriage…was that after the whole prison thing?)….Did chu go to the palace to get the emperor’s premision first?
sorry for the so many questions.but the book is so good T.T
@pink
@pink
First, it wasn’t Chu Wang, but his grandson, Chu Fei Yang (he hasn’t taken the title yet) and second:
@1314dreamer
many thanks for the info! Can’t wait for the yqm v hai tian scene haha
I’ve never read the novel but I think this book is abt them but may not be an accurate historical portrayal as time travel element is involved. Btw it is Bad Ending.
https://www.shushengbar.net/?p=653
@peanut, you seem to be very familiar with c-novels world. Do you know if there happens to be any novels out there that tells the story of Huang Taiji and Chen Fei (Hai Lanzhu).
Anyone? Their love story seems so romantic.
@Treenymph I love 清朝 novels, especially about Hai Lanzhu and Huang Taiji! The novels that I am going to recommend don’t really link a lot to the real history and is more about their romance story.
海月明珠 is quite a famous novel about the 2, it’s a must read Huang Taiji and Hai Lanzhu novel. Other such novels are 你的怀,我的一生 and 世间情深至兰极. All 3 novels are quite good, to me. I couldn’t find any other good ones after searching for quite awhile since I am very picky with my choice of novels. Those 3 are definitely 无虐宠文, if I am not wrong, because I hate 虐文.
@peanut @peach thank you soooo much. I am going to search for them. Especially 海月明珠。 I am a big fan of the couple after watching 美人无泪。 Their story in that drama was pretty lacklustre because the drama somewhat focused more on Yu’Er and Dorgon. That’s why I searches for their novels on the first place. I didn’t expect there would that many though! I am so happy!
@Treenymph You are welcome heh 🙂 Feel free to ask if you need any recommendations, I am happy to share hehe!
Just want to canvass some opinion on this book. Is it just me or do you find the characters behaved with unnecessary cruelty? I know this a work of fiction but after reading a few chapters after the wedding of the leads I couldn’t continue because of this. To me, what happened to yqm sister, su yiniang son, yiyi and su yiniang (as much as I dislike them) and others and the reactions (or the lack of any reactions) of the main leads and other main characters to these events make them inhumane and to me not very likeable. There was no forgiveness nor empathy. I’m sorry if this post has offended anyone.
Wait? What happened to all those people? Yiyi, ruoxue, Yun Yan, su qing, etc? The whole yun family?
I was wondering what was people’s reaction when they saw YQM after she got married (like were they jealous or tried to seduse her husband or something like that)
@Yukikumori
Eh, I lacked sympathy for them. First of all, the main leads are by no means kind people, so why should they feel sorry for those that either tried to murder them or use them. They would have smiled if the same thing happenend to Yun Qian Meng. There wasn’t a moment where those antagonist showed any humane qualities for me to feel for them. If there were times that they did, then maybe YQM would have not been like that. Also, it wasn’t like YWM didn’t feel sorry for Yiyi, it’s just that, she kind of ruined it the moment that girl tried to force herself onto Chu Fei Yang.
Oh? did Yiyi gave me lust herbs with food or tried to set him up?
(poor yiyi CFY can be cruel …)
I felt a bit for Yiyi due to what happened to her in prison….but,
What did Chu Fei Yang do after Yuan Yiyi
?
I really like this book. One of my favourite. Unfortunately the translation is kinda of slow. I ended up listening to the audiobook. But the audiobook was not complete yet.
What happened to Yiyi in the prison? And how did YQM react when she heard of Yiyi’s false accusations towards CFY?
@Melanie
and
@Berry
Thanks for the spoilers 11thagent!
@Melanie
@pink
The housekeeper wanted revenge because the guy sent to rape yqm on the trip was murdered but su qing did as if nothing happened. She didnt gave money to appease the family and didnt show some sympathy for his death. That guy was a distant family of the housekeeper. I think the housekeeper blamed sq for his death and he felt guilty towards the guy’s family, thats why he took revenge on yrx su qings daughter since su qing already died.
By the way how do you guys do the spoiler thing.
Oh i see thank you!!
You put spoilers like this [ spoiler ] [ /spoiler ] without gaps
I wanted to ask,,,does CFY have a father? (i dont remember being mentioned if he is alive or not or what position he has anywhere >.<)
@pink
was wondering:
many thanks!
Oh! so CFY and his father dont have a good relationship (like every person in this novel has father issues for some reason)….Does fighting involved not approving his marriage and giving him trouble? (did he suggest to marry other women?)
@pink
What will happen with the marriage proposal that YQM cousin got from Hai wangfu?
@pink
Rejected
Hi! I just start reading the novel, but I kinda like Yun Yan in the story. So I would like to know what happen to her at the end? Does she have a good ending? or she just turned bad at the end??
I was reading the synopsis and it said that YQM and CFY get seperated during a war
Does that really happen? (i dont want them to be apart T.T) YQM would be defenceless!
Also does YQM get pregnant in the story (i mean do we get to see her pregnacy?)
@bluep
@sparklingdawnlights @bluep Chen Wang didn’t take a liking to YQM’s daughter, he just felt that she was the only lead for him to find YQM due to his love/obsession towards YQM. I translated that part among the earlier comments, scroll up to see 🙂
Ho! …CFY as a dad! …to a daughter (hehe with parents like them she will be super spoiled and safe <3)…..I feel sorry for the potential husbands xD
Will CFY be like Heng in the virtuous wife and worry endlesly while his wife is giving birth? (Heng was awesome btw) …will the war he has to go to happen after Chen loses the throne?
I just want to know if there is no Cheating in this story between the main couple? I really Really REALLY hope that nothing like that happened. I don’t like it when the main couple cheats with one another. ;(
BTW isn’t the english translation better linked to willful casual because she links to everyone else in the table of contents and is the one most currently translating it?
What is going to happen to YQM uncle? ….he wont die right? (was his brother the one who tried to kill him?
When is the love scene? I have read over 51 chapter and couldn’t find any
This is my1st favorite Chinese novel.I wonder why and how su qing died?
How about yun yang?did yun qian meng reveals that her mother and little brother were killed?
Did Chen wang make it obvious/everyone know that he wanted YQM? Before and after her marriage? If not then who else knew about his obsession/feelings?
Um… does Yun Qiang Meng’s father ever find out what happened to her twin brother??
Does anyone know where to listen to the complete audiobook? I’ve tried searching but many websites are incomplete…
The link on this page is the complete version – 608 episodes.
Alright, thanks so much for your help! 🙂 I was just confused cause some sites had more than 600 episodes.
I’m surprised how popular this book is, does it get better? I tried reading 20 chapters but it is written so poorly and the story doesn’t make any sense to me. How can the protagonist assimilate into the world so quickly? She tries to be all smart and witty and the characters are all shocked about how smart she is, meanwhile I don’t see what there is too wow about..The writing lacks description – I cannot articulate an image in my head since it’s so fast-faced. Seems like a novel targeted for a younger audience :/
Does anyone know what happened to the empress dowager? Or why does she want yqm marry chen wang (the son of her rival) but not cfy. Im very curious about her
I dont think the current emperor has an heir and that’s one of the keys to stability. So the Chen Wang could potentially take over the throne if not by inheritance then by force. Even though she would be the Dowager Queen, Chen Wang’s mother will be mother to the king and thus more powerful than her. It would benefit the Queen Dowager if the seating Queen was YCM or QFQ then she could still have control of the royal family when they give birth to a son.
wait, is han che and xiao nie daifu the same person?
oh and what happens to yun yan? the third sister?
