I read this novel many many years ago, still love it!
spoiler please, would like to know if Ming Wei ended up with 13th prince in the novel?
I didn’t read the novel or watch the drama. But I checked the Chinese website just for all the fans out there 🙂
From what I read, the drama will have a different ending, a happy ending but the writer guessed that from the snippets released so it could be wrong. Spoiler below this line.
The novel has a sad ending. After Emperor Kang Xi’s death, the 4th Prince ascended the throne and the 13th Prince became more and more busy. Consort De was decreed to use poisonous wine to kill Ming Wei, but in fact, she had unknowingly drank wine containing poison for three years, and finally died in ancient time.
After the death of ancient Ming Wei, her soul traveled back to modern time and was found to have fainted from heat stroke in the Forbidden City. Although she spent a long time in ancient time, in fact only one or two days had passed in modern time. Everything seemed to be really A Dream Back to the Qing Dynasty.
From the snippets released, Ming Wei also died in Qing Dynasty but she met 13th Prince again in modern time.
