Finally a 板栗子 novel! I can’t remember much about this story but it’s generally a sweet romance story of the two! One can never go wrong with 板栗子’s novels because most of them are sweet and 无虐 novels, and they are all quite a nice and enjoyable read!
I will just introduce a few: 系统之拯救黑化皇子(one of my fave), 糖心密意, 早安幽灵小姐.
This novel was a pretty easy read that revolves around the entertainment industry and how a rookie singer managed to climb to the top of the entertainment podium with the help of her golden producer husband. The characters, though arguably “standard” in characterization (the male lead being a cold, aloof male with a unique soft spot for the female lead, and the female lead being an enthusiastic, hardworking female lead), nevertheless left me with a rather sweet impression as a couple. The smooth progression and minimal angst of the story also allowed for an extremely relaxing and enjoyable read; there was little need to worry about the futures of our male and female leads, and any potential ‘love rivals’ are easily removed. In short, this would be a perfect read for those looking for something light-hearted, and relaxing.
The male lead, Qiao Yi Chen, is a cold and aloof male with an especially critical eye and poisonous tongue when it comes to music. As such, there are innumerable occasions in the novel when famous singers and even the female lead herself suffers from his poisonous attacks. Despite his aloof nature, however, he possesses a soft spot for the female lead who was previously his chubby, genius deskmate in school. In the face of his familial pressure to get married, his reunion with the female lead leads him to propose a contractual marraige between the both of them, thus beginning the story of how the two gradually fell in love.
The female lead, Ding Meng, was a genius in school who subsequently dropped out under the pressure of extreme stress. Thus, when she first reunites with Qiao Yi Chen, she was in a job-hopping and aimless phase of life. Facing the mounting pressure to get married, she hesitantly agrees to the contractual marriage arrangement. Hilariously, she keeps thousands of “screaming beepers” and “pepper sprays” with her at all times in their “marriage home” in order to prevent Qiao Yi Chen from doing anything naughty, which leads to a couple of funny moments in the book. Having lost touch with Qiao Yi Chen for many years before their reunion, Ding Meng had no idea that the singing competition which she previously joined was, in fact, judged by our great poisonous tongue Qiao Yi Chen. With the consistent and harsh training under her ‘husband’, Ding Meng gradually forms up to be quite the singer, and eventually conquers the entertainment industry with her vocal skills and Qiao Yi Chen’s amazing hit producing abilities.
@peach, I have 糖心密意, 早安幽灵小姐 on my to read list as well! Now I’ll add 系统之拯救黑化皇子. I was about to start 糖心密意 but was in the mood for something more serious and tragic so I left it on the backburner for a bit – so thanks for recommending it and giving me a boost to actually start the book! ^^ I can definitely tell that her novels are generally sweet and warm – Marriage Concerto was itself filled with extremely sweet and cute moments!

系统之拯救黑化皇子 is one of my fave because I am a fan of 系统 novels, which I am not sure whether you might like it or not, but it is worth a read! And it is slightly different from the usual 古代系统 that helps to raise the attributes of the female lead so it was quite novel for me! Enjoy hehe 🙂
I have read 早安幽灵小姐 and 结婚协奏曲. Personally I prefer 结婚协奏曲 though, the story is encouraging and the couple are super adorable! I wonder the 2nd lead will have his own lady story.
For 早安幽灵小姐 the QQ and weibo conversations are very funny! Most times I can feel a grin on my face while reading them.

Also, what did she do? What happened to her music career. I know she’s gonna hit big, but how , when and what did the husband specifically do to help her?
