   This is the fifth novel in the “Mistaken Marriage” series by Qian Lu, and is about Lou Chen, daughter of Qing Ling and Premier Lou in “Record of Washed Away Injustices”. Lou Chen is an outstanding young lady who is highly-skilled in healing, dissecting bodies, martial arts and who possesses a photographic memory to boot. Her only flaw is probably her emotionless face (the author calls her Facial Paralysis ha-ha) which most people outside her family interpret as being aloof and unapproachable.
   But to the observant Jian Yan Heng, a lowly constable from a backwater town, he can spot her intelligence and kindness the first time he laid his eyes on her. He tries flirting with her to get a reaction from her, but Miss Facial-Paralysis totally ignores him. And since she is the higher skilled among the two, there is no shortage of arm-twisting, neck-bashing encounters for Jian Yan Heng. Thankfully, our male lead is also a very self-confidant fellow who is not easily intimated by her smarts or by the difference in their social status. Overall, I’ll say this book is good for a casual read and set the stage for the sixth installment of “Mistaken Marriage – Real vs Fake Princess”.

   Just as Jin Yan Heng places both his hands on her waist, he feels a presence charging at them and quickly spins her around so that he is now standing between her and their attacker. “Who are you?!” Lou Chen immediately recognizes the man in black, Ming, her brother’s bodyguard. His sudden appearance is a surprise and she does not know why he is fighting with Jin Yan Heng but she did not order him to stop. On second thought, this sparring opportunity may be good for Jin Yan Heng now that his internal injuries have healed. As for Ming, he may be a martial arts expert, but he is also a sensible man and is unlikely to maim Jin Yan Heng. As Lou Chen watches them fight, Jin Yan Heng has gathered the following information about his attacker. One, he is someone with strong internal powers. His fists are powerful but his movements are very agile. Two, although he did not pull his punches, his strokes are not deadly. Since internal strength is something he is least afraid to compare at this moment, Jin Yan Heng starts to pummel his attacker with renewed vigor. After about half a joss-stick time , Lou Chen finally orders. “Ming, that is enough. Stop.” At her command, Ming quickly pull his punches and takes 2 steps back. In the next moment, he has retreated behind Lou Chen while Jin Yan Heng finally connects the dots. “You guys know each other?” He knows the answer even as he asks the question and mentally berates himself for the unnecessary question. He takes a good look at his attacker – a handsome young man in his twenties– and feels a sense of danger. His peach-blossom eyes glints as he asks slowly. “Chen’er, what did you just call him?” “Ming.” is her clam reply. The look he shoots her is so unbelieving; he nearly succeeds in surprising her. “You have never called me Heng! How can you call another man so intimately?” The way he is acting now reminds her of a cat whose tail has been trodden upon. Although Lou Chen feels like rolling her eyes at his thought process, his question makes her feel surprising light-hearted. “His name is really just that – Ming.” Jin Yan Heng checks out the other man once more. His body language towards Lou Chen speaks of respect and Lou Chen has not look at him since he has stepped behind her. Although these two are not strangers, they are definitely not close either. Even though he is now sure that the new-comer is not potential a love-rival, he has no intention to let this opportunity slip and miss correcting his term of address. Eyes sorrowful, he says levelly. “From henceforth, I have decided that my name is only ‘Heng’. In future, Chen’er can just call me ‘Heng’.” Ming narrows his eyes. To prevent Miss from detecting his presence, he has kept a safe distance and has thus missed how sly this man is although he has known about this character. And from the way Miss seems to be condoning him, he can tell that he is going to have an uphill task completing the mission that Master has entrusted him. As for Lou Chen, she can feel a small muscle twitching at the corner of his eye. Really, this kind of “I am jealous! I am jealous! Quick, give in to my request” is really too childish for her likeing. Deciding to ignore him, she throws him a “Have an early rest” and walks to her room. “Chen’er!” Jin Yan Heng tries to follow but a muscled arm blocks his way. Feeling magnanimous, Ming decides to say a few more words than he normally would. “It is best that Master Yan rest early. If you are keen to fight some more, I will be more than happy to oblige.” Looking at her disappearing back, Jin Yan Heng can only stare after her longingly. He has guessed the relationship between Chen’er and Ming and is secretly glad that she now has an able body guard in this moment of peril. Still, that does not mean that the sour bubbles in his heart are going to stop popping anytime soon. Just how many obedient and highly-skilled men are there in the Lou family? If there is a “Ming” (light) today, is there going to be another “Yin” (dark) who is going to pop up tomorrow? He can almost see the day when he finally get to hold her little hand growing further and further away. Ay, his future – it is really going to be light-less future!

   Wow Jian Yan Heng seems so cool and cute at the same time lol. How many books of the mistaken match is the author going to write? 3 books on the sisters and 3 books of their daughters? What about Lou Chen’s brother? Does he get a story too?

   Yes, there are 3 books on the sisters and 3 books on their daughters. I saw some parts of book 6 yesterday (thanks peanuts!) but there is no mention of Lou Xi in it.

   There are a lot of take-that! moments in this book where Lou Chen wow the readers with her skills, or her status. But when Lou Xi makes his appearance in the second half of “Pursuit of Murderer”, he is equally if not more awesome. I’m a little disappointed he is not the love interest in book 6.

   Hi nayla, I can’t pronounce her name but yes, the 6th book is about Qing Feng n the Emperor’s daughter. There are enough clues in this book for us to figure out that she should be Jian Yan Heng’s cousin.
   As for Qing Feng, no, she did not become Empress in book 3, but she has a good ending.

   As long as i remember Qing Feng live outside the palace somewhere a beautiful and peaceful place with the emperor….I mean he is still the emperor so ofcouse he live in the palace but he missed Qing feng that’s why seen like when he’s done with his work he stay with Qing Feng…I think that’s cute…There is also book 6?..ohhhhhh!!I can’t wait to read…Who is Jin Yan Heng? Seen like his identity and family history is highlight of this book….Can’t wait to read..Here we go Lou Chen

    Thanks for posting! This book looks promising / hilarious. I hope it doesn’t drag in the middle.
    I’m a little confused tho. So initially there are 3 sisters who made a pact and committed suicide together correct? 2 souls from the future (forensic investigator and SWAT officer) get sent back. So the 3rd sister is actually the original character and didn’t die? Not someone from the future?

    I’ll get started on this book immediately!!!!

    What is the title of book 6th in this series?
    1. Record of the wash grievants
    2. Military cousellor
    3. Myterious in the emperor harem
    4. The pirate’s daughter
    5. Pursuit of the muderer

    I can recall that in book 3, the author has not revealed how Lou Xi Yan got the baby girl to replace Lou Xi, nor the clue of the baby’s identity.

    None in 1-4 volumns describe relationship between Lou Xi and 3rd prince (or 2nd prince) who is adopted son of Qing Feng. Tjis prince has been raised in the palace, by his birth mother who is also one of the emperor’s concubine. I believe he will be the next emperor in order to give Lou Xi a carefree life.

    As for the question above, though Qing Feng is not the empress. She is his only wife whom the emperor comes to live with every weekend (3 days a week) and he has no other cocubine), eversince.
    She is well aware of political situation if she was to be the empress. Due to the fact that towards outsiders’ perception, her elder sister married the prime minister (i.e., Lou Xi Yan), while her younger sister married the military supreme commander.

    wuah, thanks moonblossom. i just read your reply. owh, i just get it when i read a spoiler for the 3rd book. the daughter that qing feng raised it’s just an adoptive daughter not their real daughter. can i ask you who is qing feng adoptive son is? if she has an adoptive son from another concubine means that she befriend with some concubine in the palace. please be kind to explain it to me ^_^

    So, Lou Xi is the name of Qing Feng and YHT son? What is the name of Qing Lin and Lou Xi Yan son then? Does Lou Xi ever learns about his true parents? And can anyone share with me the link to book four? Thank you!

    Qin Lin and Lou Xi Yan has only one daugher who is the leading character of this book. So far, no clue has been revealed whether Lou Xi knows of his identity. However, there is a hint that once lookng at Lou Xi’s face reminds of whom. Qing Feng’s adoptive son is one of YHT and his imperial consort who was demoted and sent to the cold palace. She concealed her pregnancy, and Qing Feng helped protect her secrecy also sent doctor to assist during labour. However, later on other, Qing Feng lost her baby, and other concubine knew and wanted to take custody of this prince. So Qing Feng asked YHT to give her custody of this third prince.
