From the moment the heavens were born, was there any Phoenix as unlucky as her? From the start, she was a stranded Phoenix that was bullied by chickens! Luckily, she met the elegant and distinguished Phoenix King, Zhao Hua Jun. From then on, she entered the realm of the gods and enjoyed the good life where she only needed to open her mouth to be fed. Unknowingly, she saved the Prince of the Realm of the Immortals He Yue Wei, and even experienced an unexpected blessing through a disaster, by eating the internal divine essence of the previous Phoenix God and gaining the form of a person. She thought her life was finally improving, and her relationship with the Phoenix King was deepening, but who knew that everything would change suddenly?
The Demon King, the reincarnation of the Death God, he had the aura and power of the Ancient Gods and looked down upon the six realms. No one could control him, but in the realm of the gods, there is a rumour spreading of a prediction that will be able to seal him again…
When Little Phoenix personally saw the reunion of Zhao Hua Jun and his old lover, she left in a fit of temper. Coincidentally, she met the uncontrollable Demon King. Should she “leave the light and head towards the dark” or “be loyal to the end”? The destiny of the three realms will be turned upside down by this Little Phoenix. It seems that deep within this destiny… is a fate decided by Heaven…
Hello, have been too busy to post on SSB, but this is one of the better xianxia c-novels I have read.
My summary is full of *SPOILERS*:
The synopsis above makes the novel sound quite proper, but it really is hilarious and nonsensical. To be honest, when the novel started, I was rooting for Little Phoenix and the third male lead, the prince of the Immortal Realms, He Yu Wei. 🙁 But, it was not to be.
I disliked the second male lead, the Phoenix King, Zhao Hua Jun, from the start and he did prove himself to be a hypocrite.
But once the first male lead, the Demon King (he is actually called Lucifer) started getting his scene time, I was rooting for him. Because, he is such a hilarious character. Basically, if you imagine this as a computer RPG game, the Demon King is the final boss, and so super over-powered! Nothing can beat him. He is the death god reincarnation and his one interest is to fight someone as powerful as him. He dislikes the false hypocrisy of the Realm of the Gods and the Realm of the Immortals and hence often picks fights with them – but never really destroys them, since he sees them all as weaklings anyway.
The female lead is first saved by the second male lead, Zhao Hua Jun, and most readers will think he is the first male lead. However, his first love, the Dragon Girl, returns from goodness knows where, for goodness knows why (this is never really clarified properly in the novel and doesn’t really matter), because the main point is *gasp* first love comes back and Zhao Hua Jun is so happy. Little Phoenix is hurt since she thought she had something real going on with Zhao Hua Jun, and she does not want to play second fiddle so she leaves the Realm of the Gods. Unfortunately, she meets the Demon King, and she is so scared he will kill her, that she pretends that she has long worshipped him and so he brings her back to the demon realm. Haha!

Hi….been a long while since any new books were posted. thanks for putting this up. I check this book immediately..3 men -Lucifer, Zhao Hua Jun and Wen Xi (Guan He Yue Wei) I root for 3rd male lead too..Wenxi is actually the crown prince from the Realm of immortals but hide in the realm of Gods till the time is right to over throw his brother. His brother, Guan He Yue Wu, was the one who kidnap Dragon girl 20 years ago. The issue between little Phoenix and ZHJ is TIMING..ZHJ was ready to accept little Phoenix the moment he stop his 20 years search but Dragon girl came back…Xiao Feng left cos she doesn’t want to be the 3rd wheel. History almost repeat with Lucifer.. But with WenXi, he starts feeling for her even when she was an ugly Phoenix, so I was quite disappointed that this ship did not sail….XF relationship with her stepsons are more interesting..I especially love her interaction with Lu Bing Can….Demon king is written as the omni-powerful lord who knows EVERYTHING….but I did shed tears when he was “Sealed” back.
I believe the issue I have with the book is how fickle-minded her feeling for these men changed. I do believe all 3 love her and she has special feeling for all 3 of them too..but they have responsibility to their people too and will used her when the situation calls for it..It was never explained how our female lead end up as a grey Phoenix from a human. But as a book that change our normal perception of how Gods behave vs how demon behave, I will still rate it a good read
Hello Snow Berries,
Haha! Yes SSB has been a bit dormant right? 🙂
I think the 3rd male lead, He Yue Wei, has the most crackling chemistry with the female lead at the start, but his character was pretty much assassinated in the second half when he used her for political uses.
I’m on the 1st male lead all the way because he never used her for political uses. In fact, he was willing to take the risk of being sealed up again just by being with her – I love his arrogance and can do attitude, how he rather face the prophecy head on rather than run away.
I was actually fine with the female character being true to herself! I don’t like mopey female leads lol. I think she was clear that she had a crush on the second male lead, and that she had a special friendship with the third male lead. But, once she fell for the first male lead, she was very loyal waiting for him to come back. I also like how she had a mind of her own – I always believe, even if you like someone, you don’t necessarily have to agree with all his actions.
Teehee, yes the time travelling aspect was never dealt with. Hahaha. But, I suppose it was always meant to be a light funny fiction. I’m glad you enjoyed it 🙂
HAHAHA… Dec – you finally posted this one.
I remember it was fun reading this book. Hahaha – i agree with Dec. I love the fact that Phoenix is her response to the men that want to have more than one woman (ie her): “Kthxbai”.
Yes! Teehee. Better late than never. Peanuts also thanked me for keeping ssb alive while she marathons her Boss and Me.
I think this should be the response to all men. Oh, you don’t place me first? Ok, BYE! 🙂
I only read the second half of the book but I find the setup too… convenient? The Demon God is too ancient and powerful. He mitigates the sense danger that should be there when Tian Zhen was nearly killed at Po Suo Hill, or when she was poisoned in the realm of Immortals. Somehow at the back of your mind, you expect that he will sweep in and save the day. It is also too convenient for the Demon World to be such an utopia land, or Demon God to be such a handsome, righteous guy (even if he has his faults!) that there is no reason why Tian Zhen should not have ended up with him or in the Demon World.
Although I did not really buy the setup, Demon God was still quite likable given how omnipotent he was. I also like the side characters like Eldest Demon Prince, Second Demon Prince, the ‘Snake’ goddess, Zhao Hua Jun, He Yue Wei… who pushed the plot along and whose intentions were an interesting mix of heart and head. I like the interactions between Tian Zhen and her ‘son’ best of all, like the time he made her swallow a worm which she tried to live with it by convincing herself that it was just high grade protein. : )
Overall, I’ll rate the book 3/5. Worth the read on a lull day but not too invoking.
Moonblossom! Haha how can you only read the second half! I think the beauty of this book is how the villain becomes the hero 🙂 teehee. I actually like how omnipotent he is, which makes sense in a comedy! I was a bit tired of typical xianxia novels where the great god is actually not powerful *GASP*, so it’s awesome to finally have a death god kick ass, again and again and again teeheehee.
Me too! I love her ‘son’ best <3 <3 <3 I wished she wrote an epilogue for him.
Thanks for the recommendation and spoilers. I started this but dropped it a long time ago because the beginning was a bit too slow for my taste, but since you guys say it’s good, I’ll give it another go.
Hey lidge! Moonblossom is right in a way to start from the second half haha. Because, some people can’t stand the second male lead, the Phoenix King guy? So you can start at the chapter where the Dragon Lady comes back and Little Phoenix leaves and meets the Demon King! It gets funny from there.
Hi, I just read a few C-Novel and thought of sharing with fellow reader. Can you let me know how do I post new book intro the bar? Many thanks
Hey wisteria9bloom2, i’m not sure! Peanuts is the administrator. Only she can give people posting rights
Is it just me or the audiobook ended abruptly, cutting a huge chunk of the last chapter. No epilogue either? 🙁 I think I have bad luck with Shu Ke’s audiobooks.. First it was the missing chapter with Chong Zi and now this T_T
