I didn't read this novel and don't plan to read it bcos I am allergic to anything from the republican era:( I did this synopsis for Serendipity who I suspect is a Xiao Ming's fan:P I read that this novel is one of the best novels for 'mingguo' era so fans of this genre should give it a try. Btw, jin xiu means beautiful in chinese.
According to what I've read with my limited Chinese, the book is pretty angst at the beginning but with a happy ending. However, the adaptation may not follow the book's ending so don't quote me on this. If you want more info on the drama, go to cfensi.

Hahaha, Jin Xiu from When Spring Ends, I'll Meet You Again indeed has a feminine name! That's the first thing I thought when I read your synopsis. Huang Xiaoming and Qiao En looks so good together! Will probably only read this book if I like the drama.

Don't worry, this is a piece of cake compared to translating Shan Shan:P Hu Ge also will have a novel adapted drama soon but that novel synopsis is a lot harder to translate so it has to wait, lol.

Definitely liked the sound of that summary. I have not read it since I cannot read Chinese. It seem so much simpler than the live adaptation. The drama had way too many men falling in love with Jinxiu (seriously, that never happened in real life). However, I liked the aggressive and overprotective Zuo Zhen from the drama. OMG, So manly and show how much he wanted her.
Although violent in some scenes but the love story and the story itself was beautifully written...the main actiors and actress were so good in thier role...the main actor and the villain...woww body...so beautiful body...and they acted excellently...all in all ..excellent drama ever....
