Time flies, he and she had graduated for several years. However, their story still continues to be widely circulated around G University campus, streaking across the night sky and passing through fleeting time. There are also numerous totally different versions of the story.
Yet, one thing is for sure is that, a few years ago, the ordinary her abandoned him who is known as the genius in the Faculty of Fine Arts. His feeling for her runs very deeply, resulting in him almost perishing in the flames and because of her, gave up the opportunity to get a scholarship to further his study overseas.
A few years later, they met again. He is successful in his career, has a new girlfriend and a happy life.
She also has a happy and easy life.
Just that, no one knows, from the night they separated, the dewdrop has began to turn white. Her longing has also long ago since the night they separated been flooding with disaster ……
Book 2 is the prequel which tells about their lives in the campus, how they got to know each other, started to date each other and their sweet times together.

Muahahaha, do you know what is the leading man in this novel is called? Yes, he is also a ‘Xiao Bai’ lol. Yes, I am crazy abt ‘Xiao Bai’ and everything white in view of Christmas and the snowy season, haha…I was listening to the radio drama & the female lead kept on calling ‘Xiao Bai’, ‘Xiao Bai’ & I kept on thinking wrong person, wrong person lol. In future, ms author pls use your imagination & call your lead something else eg. Xiao Hei or Xiao Hung etc:P
The outline of this novel is rather similar to Gu Man’s Silent Separation. In fact, it is rather different since this novel is a lot longer. I think the response for the novel is rather good so the author wrote a prequel on their campus life later. The prequel came 3rd in a literary award. XX may want to read this novel back to front, lol. This book is also more flesh out with more humour, angsty and suspense.
Unfortunately the characters are not as likeable. Yes, Xiao Bai is very devoted to the female lead but he is no He Yi Chen. He didn’t wait for the female lead all alone but has found himself a girlfriend. So, when the ex-gf came back, he went running back to her. I’ll feel happy if I am the female lead but what if I am the poor 2nd female lead? She was there to help him to pick up his life as well as supported him in his career but once the female lead came back, all she got was ‘I am sorry, I don’t love you.’:(
Yes, reality is cruel so when Xiao Bai & the female lead broke up again due to a misunderstanding, he ran back to the 2nd female lead again!!!! Here is where I put this book on hiatus bcos I am so annoyed with this man. No wonder he ranked so much lower than He Yi Chen in the fav male lead poll. The female lead is also rather wishy-washy and should not have run away in the first place. She should just tell him so that they can face the future together. Since she made the decision to leave him, she should not have come back to disrupt his life.
Anyway, do give the novel a try as it is written quite well. This author has a very popular ancient novel who is always on the fav novel polls. According to a review I read which I personally feel is accurate is that you either love or hate this novel. I welcome a different opinion from you. I may just jump to the 2nd book when I am in the mood to read about campus love.
I haven’t read the novel, but I started listening to the radiodrama. I’m only in the beginning and I’m not quite sure I want to continue listening or even read the novel. I think I’m on the hate this novel side.
I don’t like either of the leads. The parts where Xiao Bai takes care of You Yan are quite sweet, but I really can’t see how much she likes him. Also, she’s always the damsel in distress, doesn’t feel like she has a backbone…good thing Xiao Bai’s so good to her and so capable.
The unrealistic gangster stuff is also a little too far-fetched for me believe. It’s pretty awesome that Xiao Bai can take on so many people and be all cool and awesome about it…but I can’t buy into it.
Sad…I was looking forward to this novel. Will have to find another one to read now. 🙁
I am only okay with this book bcos the radio drama is pretty well-done, very exciting and entertaining. I’ve the same reaction as you when Xiao Bai can fight so well. I was thinking is he an Art Director or triad leader, lol? Many in the Chinese forum said this book is very similar to Silent Separation but I feel SS is miles ahead. This story is more realistic in that the male lead sort of moved on in life with a new girlfriend. It is bcos of this I start to appreciate Yi Chen’s utter devotion. Actually I don’t really like Mo Sheng but compared to this female lead, MS is more likeable. I thought you like the reunion genre so I recommended you this but since you don’t like it, no worries.
Then you give Li Chuan a try. I didn’t read that bcos I plan to watch the drama. Or you can read Meeting You Is The Best Thing That Happened To Me with me. You can give the radio drama a try first. For me, so far so good. I like both the leads bcos they’ve a cold sense of humour. The only downside is I can’t get some of the humour:(
Definitely agree with you on Silent Separation being miles ahead. I didn’t like Mo Sheng that much, just like you, but after this I’m starting to appreciate her and Yi Chen more. I suppose in terms of the relationship, this book is more realistic when he didn’t wait for her…but that’s why we read novels, right? To escape from reality for just a little while? At least that’s why I love reading. 😉 Yi Chen was pretty perfect in all aspects. <3
I think I am open to different genres, besides those detective/mystery ones that are on the front page. I'm not too fond of the scary or gruesome stuff. This is definitely one of my favorite genres along with the boss/employee ones. I read your English translation of Come & Eat Shan Shan and am planning on reading it again in Chinese.
Li Chuan seems promising, especially with Godfrey Gao. *swoon* Will comment on that post once I get started reading! Thanks for the rec, hopefully I'll understand the humor…probably unlikely though…
