• This Emperor is one of my favorite characters and I re-read the story a few times. The first part of the story is straight out of 甄环传 (Zhen Huan Zhuan) and I find the plot very intriguing although a bit hard to follow with numerous names of all the concubines. By the emperor really won my heart with his gradual liking for his empress, and his dedication to her. A lot of steamy scenes, nearly a porn book I would say, but I love its characters.

  Zhen Zhen is a very direct character and can be very funny. Besides her antics - like causing one of the concubines to go bald - one of the part that I find most funny is when she looks at his dick and wonders aloud that it would be perfect if it can "sprout bubbles' which cause him to think: Whose. JJ. Can. Sprout. Bubbles ??!!! ha.ha. 5 stars from me.

• Thanks for the blurbs, peanuts and Moonblossom. I clicked on the English translation link and notice that the story is 102 chapters long! However, it's not the story length that concerns me. I am a bit ambivalent about imperial harem stories, as I feel that there is no true love and respect between the male and female leads in such stories. How can the female lead ever love a male lead who divides his love, body, and attention between the female lead and thousands of other women? And how can a man dare to truly claim he loves a woman when he cannot only have her in his heart and in his bed? Any "true love" in this situation is only superficial and necessary for survival. Personally, I'm not generous and understanding enough to listen to a guy tell me how much he loves me one day and then watch him go off to sleep with another woman the next night. And maybe I'll see this man "who loves me so much" in another few months, since he has to make the rounds in his harem. Bleh. He probably tells every woman in his harem "how much he loves her."

• Just read the translation backwards for a few chapters... Did she really vomit when he tried to... Hahaha! She really beat his ego up to a pulp! The story sounds kind of funny, but I still don't really like male leads with multiple wives.

• Where can I read the rest of the chapters? I tried to click on E book and it showed only 1-2 chapters. I am using google translate to read. Thanks

• Hahaha Melanie, you crack me up. An emperor's sperms are considered rain from the sky to keep the ground fertelized so u must not monopolize the rain, u must share it . Or so they tell me. I think the whole point to these stories though, is that the guy eventually only loves the girl and stops having sex with the other girls. Or that's how it is in the ones I've read. I haven't tried this one yet.

• Yup, Zhen Zhen is not his first but she is his last woman. He realise (with help from a "professional" consultant, ha!) that she has a cleanliness aversion n if he really wants her, he will have to give up on the others, which he stick to, even when he is hexed at the end. But that is also part of his stubbornness doing.

• N he does not need to tell a woman that he loves her. All his concubines are no different from tools or objects n he is quite heartless if he needs to

I also don't like the man with many wives .Even I like ancient novel but it become imperial harem Oh God! it really pissed me of.╮（╯◇╰）╭That's why every female lead in that kind of novel doesn't want to be a empress or emperor lover or wife.They don't want to share their man with other.Well in that novel "she is not first but his last" that's acceptable. But I don't mind If she flirt with other I mean second male lead(is there worthy second male lead?)Or whatever to make that emperor jealous. Ha Ha Ha(●﹏●Evil laugh⊙﹏⊙).

• hamster - Really? I'm funny? :) Rain from the sky, huh? :) I guess I would rather suffer through a drought and wait to drink from a tastier, more selective water source. Plus, realistically, how clean is this rain? It might be tainted with venereal diseases, given the 3000+ women a typical emperor has slept with. :P Anyway, Moonblossom likes the male lead, so maybe this is THE emperor who will change my mind about chaps who go around sleeping with a different woman each day of the year.

  By the way, I've been secretly reading your translation of Mei Gongqing. I like the story so far, but I think the female lead has a bit of an unfair advantage over the other females in the story, given that she is making decisions with the advantage of hindsight. Therefore, of course, she is going to appear remarkable to all the male leads. But I guess that is the beauty of second chances. :)

  Moonblossom - So he discards all his other consorts and concubines at the end? What does he do? Send them all home to their families? Or do they continue living in the palace, plotting to one day seduce him or kill/frame the female lead? Does Zhen Zhen have other love interests in the story other than the emperor?

• Melanie - your strong feelings on the emperor's sleeping habit somehow makes me laugh. And yes, when I said "rain from heaven" I def was rolling my eyes. But in those times, 99.9% male population had multiple wives unless you can't afford to keep them. So there really was no clean water source even from a well underground. Other stories have faithful guys coz they're fiction haha.

  Ah MGQ? She does have an advantage over others, but she's only displaying it overtly on this trip to get a head start. Once they get to the south she is mostly just trying to survive with the knowledge she has. Guys fall for her for dif reasons, not just coz she's smart. QL for example, prob fell head over heels bcoz she kept flirting with him while the other girls ooh and aah but never made any advance on him haha.
