Sincere and lively Ru Ge is the heir to the Lie Huo Shan Zhuang (Flame Mountain Estate). The dust-covered events of nineteen years ago drew her into a whirlpool. There are three men in Ru Ge’s destiny – dark, aloof and arrogant Feng, peaceful and gentle Yu, and peerlessly graceful and talented Xue… A soul-stirring story of love and hate begins…

I loved this novel for the wuxia feel and the three guys. This novel is also being made into a movie and a drama.
Thoughts about the ending?
I think the author was a little too kind. I’ve never seen a more open ending. It’s almost like one of those if you like this guy, think this way. If you like that guy, think that way. One of those endings that I want to bang my head on a table after reading.
I know that Xue is cursed, but I can’t help but feel that Ru Ge did end up falling in love with Xue. I blame 香蜜沉沉烬如霜 for my torture. It just totally pisses me off that there is no clarification at all.
Some people say that Xue only completed Yu Shi Xiong’s disabilities, but I think he possessed him. I actually think that Yu Shi Xiong died and than Xue’s soul took over. It makes sense to think that it means Ru Ge ends up with Xue in the end, but I really want that black & white text in the book where Ru Ge confesses her feelings. I don’t care if she doesn’t say it to Xue, I just want to know what she feels. I’m not satisfied with the whole concept of them being able to have a lifetime together and Ru Ge will eventually fall in love with him. Probably I’m greedy.
I’m so confused right now. Ru Ge is a disciple of Lie Huo Shan Zhuang and Yu is her shixiong. Xue is the most beautiful person in the world and likes her??? He seems to have an ulterior motive though. Xue wants to teach Ru Ge how to obtain the heart of the man she likes. Where does Feng come in?
Ru Ge is the headmaster’s daughter. Both Yu and Feng are her Shi Xiongs. Feng is her father’s first disciple and is her first love. She went to the brothel to learn how to seduce a man or rather hold a man’s heart. Xue’s teaching her to obtain the heart of the man she likes is all bogus stuff, he just wants to follow her around. All 3 men likes her. I’m not sure which version you are reading or if you are reading the audiobook. The foreword/intro tells us that Xue has a woman that he loves alot and she died. He became a xian so he can watch over the woman he loves from the moment she is born. He’s waited a thousand years for her to come back, but achieving the immortality of a xian also comes with a curse, and his curse is that she could never fall in love with him.
What happened to Feng to make him change so much? The story is kinda slow right now, hopefully the pace will pick up soon.
I agree, it’s kind of slow at the beginning. This story has a slightly Gu Long feel to it. It’s a mystery wuxia. If I told you what changed him, it wouldn’t be as interesting later on because it’s a huge piece. I can only say he still loves her.
Are you using the audiobook? I would actually suggest going back to the book after the first audiobook, cause they changed the reader and she kinda made Xue absolutely sissy and too much (annoying almost).
Ru Ge is such a player in this story xP
Nah you’re not greedy cuz I wanted Ruge and Xue to be together too! I think Xue became one with Yu at the end, using his xian spirit to heal Yu and become his eyes and limbs. So Xue’s soul also lives inside Yu’s body along with Yu’s own soul, and with this Xue can also be with Ruge because it’s all he ever wanted. It’s like the ending of Painted Skin II where the fox demon became one with the princess and healed her wounds – the soul of the fox demon becomes part of the princess and together they live out the princess’s life with the general whom they both love.
Can someone spoil the ending for me? Is it BE, HE or OE ( I don’t know why I get a feeling it’s OE because it’s three guys…. ><) Who does she end up with ? I was just curious, because it's being adapted into a drama (dilraba dilmurat's the female lead!!!) and I don't want to ship the wrong guy :< .. (though no male has been attached yet lol)

Just ruin it for me, my heart is hurting because I don’t want to see another Chinese drama where Bin Bin doesn’t end up with true love. I have a theory but I’m not sure. Please save me the heartbreak
umm am i the only one who ships Ruge and Feng together.
I ship Ruge and Feng too!!!
Can someone please explain in detail the ending of this story from the book? What happened to Xue?
Can someone tell me who Ru’Ge baby’s father is?
At the end of the series she has a baby but I can not tell if it’s from Yu or Xue.
when she commits suicide the baby is taken by An Yelou and is soon saved by Xue, I do not understand the end. rhrhhrh help me please i’m through.
I’m back!!!! lol
My answer for who to ship in the book and drama:
Regarding the ending
In the end of the series, Xin Xue somehow dies but somehow he does come back. In the end she is with Yin Xue.
