My Heart Will Never Betray You/ Nuptial Chamber, Next Door 知我如你,情深不负/ 洞房花烛, 隔壁 by 叶落无心 Ye Luo Wu Xin (HE)

In the Presidential suite of an international hotel, in order to save her fiancé from jail, she was forced to accept a trade between sex and power, and this partner is the man she hates most, Ye Zheng Cheng.

Three years ago, they were both in a foreign country, attending the same medical university. Coincidentally, their apartments were only separated by a single wall. During the night of a violent wind and rainstorm, alcohol let them throw away the chains of reason, his love seems like suddenly lit fireworks, dazzling and resplendent.

However, the brilliance of fireworks last only a short moment. The marriage certificate of Ye Zheng Cheng  and another woman crushed her illusions of love. From now on, the word “love” became the most painful nightmare of her midnight dreams.

Three years later, fate let her and Ye Zheng Cheng reunite. She learned a surprising secret. It turns out that Ye Zheng Chen’s marriage had a secret…

What’s that other book called? I like the whole beg ex to save fiance concept. Is it business setting? Why she need his help? Money?

The other book is called 洞房花烛,隔壁. The first 2 chapters are really addictive & mysterious but there are flashbacks. I know you don’t like flashbacks but I find it ok bcos it took place in Japan, one of my fav country:P The story is something like Chatters. Her finance is detained on corruption charges and her ex is the only one who can save him. As the saying goes, there is no free lunch in the world, so you can guess how the story will develop. She is a doctor. So far on chapter 5, it is not really a must read book but I am reading bcos I need something angsty to even out my super happy mood, lol. Anyway, I quite like this author’s style, a good mixture of angst & humour.

Is the author 叶落无心? If so, I don’t think 洞房花烛,隔壁 is new, peanuts. Maybe a reprint? When you first mentioned it, I immediately thought of something I had read previously. Now that you’ve listed the title, I compared it to the book I though of. The Chinese characters of the two books are the same.

From what I remember of the story, the main guy/main girl study in Japan and are neighbors. I think he studies something related to medicine research, can’t remember what she studies. Read it long ago so don’t remember the story well, but one detail I remember is that he changes expensive cars often. I think the main girl begs the main guy to save her boyfriend, and the main guy appears to agree. I think it’s later that we find out that the boyfriend has been OK all along without needing the main guy’s help.

I really like this author and have read 9 or 10 of her books. Some of them I really, really love!! I wanted to talk about her previously but didn’t know her name in Chinese. Will talk about her books I really love when have more time. I have 3 essays due on Friday and only done with 1 so far! Ay Caramba!!

Aiya, you never recommend me any author or book. I’ve to dig them out myself. Hehe, I understand lah. You are super busy with essays. So quickly finish them so we can exchange our love for this author & some other authors & books. I feel very lonely ar, lol. Chat with you on Sat, your rest day since I’ll need a few days to finish this book.

Wah, she wrote so many books ! http://baike.baidu.com/view/4082356.htm When can I sleep:P? I saw the publishing date as March 2012 so I though no way there will be a Viet translation so fast. Now, I checked back that the novel was actually written as an internet novel in 2010. Arrrgh, we’ve such similar taste in books, it is scary:P I like this book. The storyline is quite cliche but the way the author wrote it make it a comfortable & addictive read for me. Oh, this book is one of her most popular book as I found it on one of those top 100 rankings. Aiyoyo, I am a smart reader:P I sort of know what is the occupation of the male lead but will read on to confirm.

Despite the premise, the story is actually quite different from Chatters. Although the main male is somewhat manipulative and have a possessive streak a mile wide, he is more likeable than Zhao Yi Shan. At least to me, he is.

I personally liked this novel, and was quite addicted throughout the story. It could have been a lot shorter since they had so many breakup, makeup moments, but it was cute. Other than the main leads, the other characters don’t get developed very well. There is a lot of flashbacks, but the occasional glimpse back into the future keep it entertaining.

I totally blame Peanuts for making me finish this book in a day and a half. Jk, jk. I kept procrastinating on my homework, my essay, and my sleep. Before this I was trying to read Rabbit, which is cute and fluffy, but the moment she mentioned an angstier book, I had to try it. Now I can’t get back to it even though I’m halfway done. Oh well, I’m off to look for something else to read now, maybe by the same author.

Oh skyblu, u beat me:( I change my mind & plan to post this book at the weekend once I finish it. Never mind, I can save some time now:) When I wrote my comments, I’ve only read abt 5 chapters. After reading further I like this book better. I started this book first but you finished it faster than me, boo hoo hooo….I wanna stop working & go back to uni so I’ll have time to read more books:P

I am only on Chapter 35, nearing the end of the Japan flashbacks. Did you read all of the end of chapter comments by the author? She is so funny & wrote she is also sick of the flashbacks so gonna quickly jump back to the present. Yah, I got tired of the endless makeups & in fact skipped some of them, lol. Lidge said she read abt 10 books by this author. I wonder which other book is good. Tell me which one you are reading & whether it is good so I can follow you this time:)

Ye Zheng Cheng is normally not the kind of male lead I’ll ship. At the beginning, I find him too forceful, arrogant & flirty. But his love & devotion to the female lead slowly won me over. I couldn’t believe someone so in ctrl & discipline can do so many stupid things for love, lol. Arrrgh, all the male leads in the novels I read are so lovable, heehee…Bcos the book is written fr the 1st person point of view, I feel like I am the female lead, lol. When she is happily dating YZC, I share her feeling but when they broke up, it feels like my heart is broken, haha…

Btw skyblu, I am only on chapter 50 of rabbit. It is very sweet & funny but I kind of got bored so started this book & never look back:P

Btw, I feel the author should have kept the real identity of Ye Zheng Cheng to milk some mysterious element in the book. But she lets the cat out of the bag too quickly when she discloses the fetish of the female lead. Thereafter I can easily guess why he is not a free agent.

  12. skyblu629
    skyblu629 October 4, 2012 at 12:33 am |

Especially when she explicitly asked him whether or not he was in the military, was a military doctor or if his father was in the army because he was so neat and organized. Although I’m wondering how a military guy can be mysophobic, but whatever. He is sweet even if he is a pervert.

  13. Peanuts
    Peanuts October 4, 2012 at 12:39 am |

At the beginning, the setup is sort of like Chatters in that the male lead threathens the female lead who desperately wanna save her loved one. I guess what makes Ye Zheng Cheng more acceptable is that he had been in a relationship with the female lead, love her very much & also the female lead is willing. More importantly to me why YZC is more likeable compared to Zhao Yi Shan is bcos YZC is younger, better looking, has a lot of flashy cars & watches, better educated, is a doctor & peanuts also share the female lead’s fetish, lol.

I think he is mysophobic bcos he is also a research doctor into bacteria/gem/virus? Remember he warns the female lead to be extra careful when breeding bacteria in the lab or else if contaminated, she’ll die in most instances? Anyway, it is an eye opener to meet an organised & neat guy in a novel, lol.

That book sounds a bit nue. I was thinking about trying it after I read 孤烟 by Ye Luo Wu Xin and that book you informed me about. Since both of them have the incest theme. So far Gu Yan is a bit boring, didn’t realize it was ancient until the 2nd chapter. It’s short though so I might finish it even if it’s boring. If it makes you feel better, they don’t get together.

Sorry, I am lost. What is Gu Yan? Who don’t get together? You mean the wolf book got sad ending? I am confused on the ending as I read some said good ending but some said open ending. I don’t care as I am reading chapter 1 now, muahaha….I’ll post it tonight if I become addicted, haha…

Oh I’m sorry I was being confusing by jumping from topic to topic. Gu Yan is another book by the author of Wedding Night. It has an incest theme that you find disturbing. The couple in Gu Yan don’t get together, so I thought that would make you feel better. Ye Luo Wu Xin is generally a happy ending writer.

I’m not into incest themes either. In what way incest? Step Brother – Sister I can accept, but real blood siblings is kind of too much for me. lol I’m kind of hypo because a book I like has incest relationship also, but in that world it is acceptable. Depends on how the concept is set up, if the world the story takes place in accepts this kind of relationship than I can accept, but if it’s considered incest in that world than I think it is unacceptable as well.

Ok, I’m starting this book now.

I see, I see, I am slow today bcos of all the late night reading:P Gu Yan = Smoke. Like Chancy, I wanna know if they are really blood related. If they are then it makes sense that there can’t be a HEA ending. Ancient book? i though like XYW, she only writes modern book. I think YLWX also writes sad or open ending but mostly happy one like XYW. Oh, did you notice they’ve the same acronyms but in different order and an extra L, lol?

The structure of Wolf is kind of like Wedding. The 1st chapter is a bit disturbing. She called him father then went into his car. I think chapter 2 is the beginning of the flashback. Another XYW’s trademark. I wonder who copied who? I think this book is shorter than Wedding which is good. Also, I am curious how their r/s can be resolved as it is so much more twisted than Wedding. I lost interest in Wedding bcos I can guess how they can get their HEA ending. As for this book, I am eager to know, lol.

与狼共枕, 与狼共吻 and 等我长大,好不好 are part of a trilogy.

与狼共枕: Main guy is the leader of a powerful gang and kills main girl’s family. She’s the only survivor. He raises her as his adopted daughter (don’t remember if he knows he killed her family when he adopted her, probably not). She grows up and they fall in love. The secret that he killed her family is exposed. Happy ending.
与狼共吻: Main guy is the leader of a powerful gang. Main girl is a cop and wants to bring down all gangs in general…lol. They meet and fall in love, but complications arise because of who they are. Happy ending.
等我长大,好不好: Main guy and main girl are betrothed as children, but main guy is much older than main girl. She keeps telling him to wait for her to grow up, but her hopes are destroyed when he falls in love with someone else. When she finally grows up, accepts defeat, and in a relationship with someone else, main guy realizes he loves her. Happy ending.

The first two books are connected because the two main guys are best friends. The third book is about their children.

My favorite books of this author are 堕落无罪 (Fallen Innocence? gah, love this title in Viet!!) and 已越雷池.

堕落无罪: Main girl quits job after job because her bosses are perverts. She lands a job as secretary to a powerfully CEO. From company rumors, she’s relieved to know that although the CEO is the epitome of “Prince Charming,” he already has a fiancé and behaves impeccably (even cold) towards the women employees who constantly throw themselves at him. She thinks maybe her luck has turned, and she finally has a stable job to take care of her daughter. [I love this book because it’s a cross between Winter Sonata (CEO looks like the main girl’s first love) and Sealed With a Kiss (CEO blackmails main girl into becoming his lover).]

已越雷池: Main girl can’t speak (not born mute, just psychological problem). She sells herself to a nameless stranger because she needs money. She disappears the next morning but is moved by the kindness he had shown her. Some years pass. She meets him again, but he doesn’t remember her. They date. Their relationship turns serious, and he introduces her to his younger twin brother. At this moment, she realizes she got the wrong person. [I love this story because the main guy’s devotion to the main girl is touching. He learns sign language after their one night encounter on the off-chance that if they meet again, he can communicate with her.]

Will try to recap her other books some other time.

Actually I wanted to read your fav books but went for Wolf bcos of all the positive comments. Oh, i gonna jump ship to either of your favs since we’ve fairly similar taste:) I like a fun & angsty book. I cannot take too much of ‘nue’ in a book.

A daughter? Where is the dad? Twin brother? Wah, how to resolve such twisted r/s ar? Ok ok, don’t tell me, let me marathon thru them to find out.

I’ll post recaps for her other books when I’m done with my essays, but the 2 books I listed are my faves so that’s why I posted recaps for them first. I adore, adore the title Fallen Innocence, and you’ll understand why it matches the story perfectly after you read it. “Fallen” is because the relationship btw. the main couple can be seen wrong morally and ethically. The main guy is engaged to be married. He mistakenly thinks the main girl is married, yet still blackmails her into being his lover. Then he later tells her to divorce her “husband” to be with him…lol. “Innocence” refers to the pure love btw. the main couple, which began when they were children at an orphanage which lasts through the years.

^______^ ok, I stopped this book. hehe This book appears to be a little too much for me. Maybe because Chatters started with a little more plot and happenings so I was more able to accept what happened between them and because it’s read by A Shou so I felt pity to stop reading it, but this book pretty much opened up this way makes it hard for me to want to continue. ok so now i have more time freed up to go play the online jianghu game now.

Maybe I’ll try XYW’s You are Still Here or the The 2 wolf book and the one about the childhood bethroth. They seem pretty interesting. Been waiting to read a good gang book since Welcome to the Underworld.

Hehe, turn out that this author is so well liked till lidge read 10 of her books & skyblu & me are reading 2nd one. FYI, Ye Zheng Cheng is one of the most loved characters in a baidu poll for this author’s books. He is really sweet & I’ve slowly fell in love with him, lol. Anyway this book is kind of draggy.

Skyblu: I am reading the pervert boss book now bcos it is the shortest. Yes, I’ve ultra short attention span:P Then I’ll read book 3 of the Wolf trilogy as it is also short. All the long books have to wait, haha…Anyway, I might change my mind.

Lidge: The pervert boss book is funny in its own way. Not laugh out loud funny but still funny or maybe I’ve a twisted sense of humour:P YLWX’s books are angsty yet not that bad. At least they didn’t reduce me to tears, just play with my heart only:) Btw, I am a bit scare of this author’s books as her male leads are so forceful, determined & twisted. It takes some time for me to start warming up to them. I don’t want college romance books bcos I am sick of them. I still have a few good one waiting to be read.

I don’t think I am posting that pervert boss book bcos I am too lazy, lol. It is not the worse or best of book. I prefer Wedding better. It’s just because that book was pretty short, and I have enough free time to read for hours straight. Reading Yuan Lai Ai Hen Shang, the book you mentioned on incest. That isn’t incest either as one is adopted. So far it’s in childhood, but it’s okay. Nothing impressive or addicting yet. I’m waiting for a book where the siblings are actually blood related because I want to see how the author handles it. Obviously they’re not going to end up together, but I want to see some conclusion that isn’t, “Oh, you’re not really siblings.”

I doubt there will be a book on real incest as this subject is taboo & won’t sit well with most ppl. Maybe, you can write one in the future, haha..I can’t think of another way to end it beside making them not really blood related which will satisfy the readers.

Haha, I guess bcos our life is too dull & we most probably won’t meet such a person in real life. Thus such a ‘bian tai’ person sound very appealing in the book. Honestly, I’ll be very scared if I meet or date someone like that, lol. Yet, I am very fascinated by this perverted boss & is marathoning the book:)

Actually he is very normal but become ‘bian tai’ bcos of the female lead. I notice YLWX likes to name her female lead ‘bing’ (ice). I don’t really like it but like the names of her male leads better. I feel that she has a way with her words & descriptions that make her novels addictive eventhough the story is just so so. For me, her book has the right mixture of angst & humour. Will probably read most of her books except the incest one you read & another one on teacher & student r/s. Hey Lidge, finished your essays? I skimmed a few chapters of 与狼共枕 & decided to drop this book. Yuck, yuck, the prospect of loving your dad, be it an adopted one give me the creep. I think the male lead is quite old right?
I dislike cradle snatching male lead. I feel that they are abusing their position of power to place undue influence on someone a lot younger. That is why I don’t like teacher student r/s & parents r/s books. Don’t know why this book is one of the author most popular one. Anyway, I am not into gangster/underground type of love story. Don’t find it romantic at all. I am too practical, lol. The only thing I am thinking when reading it is call the police pls, haha….

As promised, here’s a short recap of the author’s other books that I’ve read. Out of these, the only one I thought tolerable is 把爱错给了你. I found the rest boring.

把爱错给了你: College romance. Main girl and main guy meet through online chat. She stops communicating with him because he says he’s in the US and she sees no hope for a real relationship. At this point, main guy realizes he likes her so returns to China to confess his feelings but sees her meeting her boyfriend. He becomes a professor at her college to quietly stay by her side and help her. Ironically, she mistakes his intentions and treats him like an enemy, thinking he’s out to get her because he give her a lot of class assignments…lol. [This is a teacher/student relationship, which peanuts might not like..lol]

戒不掉你的温柔: College romance. Main girl’s parents sets her up on a matchmaking date with the son of their friends. She doesn’t bother meeting the guy but meets an old friend called Ivan. She complains to Ivan about the matchmaking date, saying she heard the guy is a playboy and doesn’t want anything to do with him. She doesn’t know Ivan’s Chinese name and doesn’t realize he’s the guy she’s been set up to meet. Ivan then sets out to win her heart and prove he’s not a worthless playboy. [This plot seems cute, but I found it boring while reading so couldn’t finish.]

把爱错给了你 and 戒不掉你的温柔 are linked because the main girls are college roommates and the main guys are cousins. The main guy in 戒不掉你的温柔 is the BFF of the perverted boss in Fallen Innocence.

千年守候: Fantasy genre. Main guy is a high deity in the heavens. Out of boredom, he creates a statue of a beautiful woman and becomes obsessed with it. His friend sees this and destroys the statue. Years later, main guy meets a fairy who looks like the statue he created. [Personally, I finished this and found the story boring.]

风莫动情: Sequel to 千年守候 with the same main couple. I tried to read this because I had finished 千年守候, but the sequel was even more boring and worse if that’s possible. Ended up skimming a lot and have no idea what the story is about.

Peanuts: Sorry to hijack this post to talk abt ancient books on political power & love. There are 2 highly rated books which are of similar genre to your殇璃. The good things are there are a lot of nice MVs with actors better looking than Mickey:P in tudou & the books are of more grand & epic scale. The bad news it they do not have good endings but they are not tears fr beginning to end like殇璃. Lidge, have you read 帝王业 by寐语者 & 红颜乱 by 朵朵舞? I am not going to post these 2 books bcos I dislike books with bad ending. Maybe skyblu will be interested:)

At this moment I’m reading modern books. Ancient romances with a breathtaking beauty and a reverse harem is starting to feel old. Tried the Wolf book and Fallen Innocence. The Wolf book was a bit meh, and Fallen Innocence was pretty good. I wish Si Si had a larger part in the novel though. Lin Jun Yi and Yao Bing Wu’s problems could have been so easily solved if they just talked to each other and stopped assuming things. Still like Wedding Night best.

Arrrrgh, I wrote the same thing & feel the same way:) Heehee, now I click better with skyblu than lidge:P I can’t believe those blind girls in baidu voted that guy in wolf as the most likeable guy:( I’ll take Ye Zheng Cheng anyday. I just finished chapter 50. There is so much depth with Ye Zheng Cheng’s characters. He is such a super sweet & cute guy beneath the flirty & playboy image. I haven’t read the twin bros book but I am 99% sure nobody can beat my YZC:) Hey lidge, why you are not keen on him? Did you read this book properly?

I also wanna read more abt Si Si. Skyblu, if you like to read abt kid, did you read Blame you Being Too Beautiful? That kid is super cute there. Although Lin Jun Yi is sweet b4 his plastic surgery, he is no match with YZC. The things that YZC did & sacrificed are so much more indepth than Lin Jun Yi who seem more like a looney, lol. Yao Bing Wu is also a lot weaker compared to Bao Bing. Yes, yes, this book is the best & I don’t mind listening to an audio book so I can drool on YZC again, haha…

Oh, the 2 books I mentioned aren’t really abt harem. They are more abt beauty & power. The MVs are very good & epic. I am looking fwd to seeing them as dramas but pls don’t cast Mickey as the leading man & pls change the bad endings !!!!

No, I haven’t. I checked and unfortunately, only the first few chaps. of each book have been translated. Thanks for digging around for me, peanuts^^

Maybe the Wolf guy gets so much votes because most girls like the bad boy…..lol. I draw the line at killing one’s family though. It’s hard for me to accept the main girl’s decision to be with her family’s killer even though he’s her savior.

I’d vote for the perverted boss in Fallen Innocence. He’s pretty bad, plus crazy too so beats the Wolf guy in my opinion….lol.

I don’t remember much about Wedding. Read it so long ago. When I have time, I’ll reread it^^

This review of YRWX’s books is good!♥♥
I think I made a mistake. I think Seoul is my twin, not peanuts 🙂 🙂
I started reading Chinese novels because of Sealed With A Kiss and Da Mo Yao too. Ahhhh, it’s soooo nice to discover another fan of Ye Ruo Wu Xin and Fei Wo Si Cun. I’ve started 无爱言婚 but have stopped because I’m waiting for the whole thing to finish so I can read in one go. Waiting for updates is just too much for my sanity.

No, I only started about a year ago when BBJX, Sealed with a Kiss, and Da Mo Yao were being translated. Waiting for the English translations were difficult. By chance, I found out that there were also Viet translations available so I checked those out. And as they say, the rest is history.

I guess I can read pretty fast. Average-length story takes me a few hours. When I have nothing to do at work, I also read too.

Peanuts, I’m confused. Why do you sometimes need Chinese to be translated into English? Like you needed the Eclipse Heart clip to be translated. Are there different dialects in Chinese and you only understand certain ones? Just curious^^

I started reading English translated novels around the same time as you then switched to audiobooks bcos really painful waiting for translations:( Then abt 3 mths ago, discovered I can get google to read for me so the rest is history. My goal for 2013 is to read more books than Lidge, lol. It is easier to read the Viet translated novels than getting google to read to me bcos it is really slow but I’ve more choices:P

I grew up with TVB so needless to say I am very fluent in Cantonese dialect. My Mandarin which is the language used in the novels suck big time. I can understand abt 50 to 60% of Mandarin thru self-learning which is thru watching Huan Zhu Gege & other Taiwan dramas or Mandarin dubbed dramas & reading the subtitles. Also, some Cantonese words sound similar to Mandarin so I can guess. My biggest handicap is I cannot read Chinese. If I can read Chinese, it’ll be easier to understand those novels eventhough they are written in Mandarin. I don’t have much problem with modern books but with ancient books, I can’t understand all the poems & those olden days language like I can understand English but can’t fully understand Shakespeare’s books. I can understand a bit of the lyrics of songs but not fully bcos those songs are not written in proper long sentences or conversational language. In a nutshell, I’ve not received any formal education in Chinese so my level of comprehension is limited:(

Hey, hey, I did something silly today. I went to read the reviews of Eclipse Heart. Wah, the book has just come out but there are heaps of reviews. Those reviews are even more interesting than reading the book, lol. I’ll summarise for you under that book later when I’ve finished. Those netizens are really good in their criticisms & praises of Xin Yi Wu as well as the book. Some of the stuff they wrote made me laugh so hard, haha…

I had such a great time getting to know YiZhengChen. He strikes me as a glorified big bully but exactly the type that I adore and would absolutely die for!!

Although there were anxious moments in the book that had me sweating in the palms and chewing my nails off, but it was well worth every single second invested, every bit of emotion spent and every drop of tear felled.

The book doesn’t have the usual flair of romantic overtures and fluffiness because our male lead is one mean and nasty beast. But he takes such good care of our female lead, BoBing, protects her, helps her, and loves her so deeply that that he alone knows the depth.

The wonderfully sweet moments were when they first got to know each other as friends and neighbours, then things start to heat up when mutual affections start to develop. But the lass knows better than to accept a casanova as a boyfriend. She tried resisting, she did resist at first, and she resisted again, but of course, YZC prevailed at the end.

Although she tells herself there is no hope for a long lasting eternal relationship with him, she still throws herself into the pit of doomed love. It’s sad that she goes into such a lovely relationship without expectations. But, easier said than done, when it came to the crux, she left with such overwhelmingly sadness, it nearly broke my heart. I thought the saddest part was when she pleaded with him not to allow YuYin to spend the night in his apartment next door as it would be too painful for her to bear. Another very sad moment was when he in turn pleaded with her for a mere three minutes to hear his explanations but she refused him and proceeded to board the plane.

At the beginning i thought YZC had too many baggages, secrets and I hated him for all the lies and deception. Then I hated BB for not giving him the 3mins that he wanted to come out clean wt her. Then I hated YuYin for all her underhand tactics. And lastly, i hated YinZhongTian for being so pathetic.

But very soon, all the hatred dissipated. How very sad for YZC, he did not even sign on the marriage certificate; his responsibilities, obligations really did him in. He really did the best that he could given the circumstances that he was in. As for BB, she’s only a normal woman and can we actually blame a normal woman for refusing to believe and love unconditionally after all the lies, again and again…..her departure seems to be the only way out of the deceit and betrayal.

And I even empathise with YuYin, poor woman, she loves YZC and stupidly thinks that how can three years not be sufficient to melt his heart. How wrong can she be!!! And YinZhongTian – no comments except that he is indeed a sorry excuse for a man, but he still have my sympathy becoz really, he is no match for YZC.

It was lovely to know that YZC never gave up on BB the three years they separated, he had his best friend “stalking” her. I always love the way the male leads spy on their beloveds from afar. Also, we were so thoroughly misled, turned out that YZC was no casanova at all, truth be told, I was a tad bit disappointed!! Haha….

Finally, I guess the separation was crucial as it was necessary, esp for BB to realise that after YZC, it was not possible for her to love anybody else. There is just no replacement for YZC. As for YZC, he was simply eagerly waiting for his three year obligation/contract to end before he pounces on his prey again. There is indeed a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow!!

I will definitely reread this book in the future. And Peanuts, what else can I say??

It was then he pressed himself into the knife…..it was a very emotional part of the book. Wow, I love this book.

Actually, I think YeZhengChen’s father is just a strict and disciplinary guy, also a little arrogant, being an army general and all. Also, he is very wary and afraid that something bad will happen to YZC becoz his other son (YZC’s elder brother was killed in an accident when he was young), so the father sort of like became a control freak over YZC and is generally disagreeable with everything that YZC does. When YZC first told his father about BoBing, the father objected becoz firstly, YuYin was a close family friend’s daughter who was earmarked as YZC’s wife and secondly, YZC was on a spy mission for three years. I supposed the father and those in command were afraid that YZC falling in love would compromise the mission.

I agree that YuYin’s appearance at the hospital at the end was somewhat sinister but I think the purpose is nothing but to reiterate the fact that she lost YZC or that she never had him from the beginning. And also maybe, just to convince herself that YZC truly and only love BoBing.

Also, if you had read the part at the woods (3yrs later) where YZC was forcing himself onto BoBing, and YuYin happened to call asking him to go sign their divorce papers, it was revealed that YZC did not even sign the marriage certificate to begin with!! So, YZC could not be bothered with the divorce papers and told YuYin to get the same guy who forge his signature on the marriage cert to sign the divorce papers.

Pm, if you like this novelist’s books, you can also try reading Love Given To You By Mistake. It’s about a scientist/professor (YangLanHan) and his PhD student (BaiLingLing). In fact, LingLing cameo-ed as BoBing’s friend in Wedding Night when they were students in Japan.

Peanuts is Charlie Brown. I am Lucy Brown, lol. Are you reading Original by Xin Yi Wu?

You should read all of Ye Luo Wu Xin’s books like what I did. I enjoy the ‘yellow’ parts:P Haha, I am just kidding. You can skip the ‘yellow’ bits. Her stories are interesting & funny also beside ‘yellow’:P

Yes, the same BaiLingLing. And yes, the handsome professor who visited YZC in the hospital is noneother than BaiLingLing’s gorgeous husband.

In Love Given To You By Mistake, BaiLingLing sort of broke off with her handsome professor and went to Japan to continue her studies. That was when she met BoBing. A year later, the professor came looking for her and they reconciled. Do give the book a try, contains your staple ingredient, mustard (I’m sure you know the colour of mustard)!!!

I just finished this book. And I love. I think if it’s a little shorter it would be better. I kept playing “ai” sung by Nicholas Tse and Charlene when I read this book because the two sentences mentionned by the author really fit YZC. He loves her so much. Ahh how I wish to have a neighbor like him.

I cried around chapter 27, when she discovered his relationship with Yu Yin (?), when she told herself that it’s their last time *ahem*

But it must be exhausting to be a military wife. Like how she waited for him, no phone call, no news…

I love YZC too, but I will love him more if some information weren’t revealed like he cooked for YY, went shopping with her. I know he wanted to take revenge but I don’t like.

Starting on YLWX with peanut’s recommendations. She’s a good writer, but somehow I don’t find her addictive. She reminds me a lot of Big Grey Wolf with Wings haha.

I’ve read Fallen Innocence (great character depictions but a lack of plot haha) and the novel with the male lead’s best friend (again, great character set ups but no plot?). I think YLWX writes v good characters but they are more set ups than real storylines. Shall save Wedding Night when I want some good modern angst!

Hey, I did tell you she is similar to big grey wolf but not as yellow, lol. Also, I recommended you this novel not those you’ve read so I still have good taste in novels:P I think this is her best novel. I forgot which book is the best fren of the male lead of Fallen Innocence. XX likes I think Love Given to you by Mistake which I am allergic to bcos of the teacher & student r/s storyline:P Bongsd likes the book on the twin brothers.

    Hi Decembi

I’m reading Fallen Innocence on the account of Seoul In Love’s interesting synopsis. Now I don’t mind reading books with angst and perhaps not your typical romance, as you know the premises of the book, and how the two leads get involved.

I won’t spoil it, needless to say I was a little taken aback on a particular scene. Decembi, I think you know what it might be and I definitely won’t spell it out for those who haven’t read it. Needless to say, it made me very uncomfortable because such grounds for a relationship isn’t healthy in my opinion. So I know we’re digressing here but I wanted to know your thoughts about the characters. Despite the late of plot, even with google translation I could decipher it was well-written novel.

Lastly, can you please spoil me and tell me if it’s a happy ending. I don’t mind angst but I would a little reward 🙂 thank you kindly

The ending is really weird..with the ex wife making the most awkward appearance at the hospital just when the couple finally has some time to themselves. .YZC really has a very big “appetite” and I sort of pity BoBing.I wonder how he control his urge all these while. I don’t really appreciate trading the woman body in any deal so the idea is quite sick….even if he was her ex bf….He was in Japan as a spy for 5 years and I was glad of the 3 min she refuse to give him which save him the dilemma to choose between country and her. He is a soldier on a mission. I find the chapters doesn’t flow very well..not sure if it is the writing style…anyway as a “yellow” book, it did not disappoint me.

    Hello thundergirl3,

So sorry, I only just saw your comment. I read Fallen Innocence a while back, but I remember very clearly that it was a happy ending. Haha. I agreed that the plot was rather crazy and all over the place – the male lead was vaguely psychotic, as I guess most male leads are in c-novels. I was little disappointed because the set up sounds so good – reunion between jilted man (now successful) and his ex girlfriend who had kept his baby! Intense would be the right word for it.

    @Snow Berries
I was kind of turned off by the beginning when it seemed as if Bo Bing was trading her body for a deal with YZC. But, we did learn late in the novel that the thought had never crossed YZC’s mind and it was something that Bo Bing had assumed in her panicked state. The “deed” happened because basically Bo Bing completely offered herself up to him, thinking that was what he was demanding, and he couldn’t resist the woman he loved all those years. So, that wiped away that tarnish on YZX to me.

I loved this story at the beginning in Japan, prior to the angst happening, especially when they were in the 暧昧 ‘ai mei’ romantically ambiguous part of their relationship. They were so sweet, the chemistry was great. After YZC got the girl, he turned into a ravenous wolf, although in the beginning, between their “frolicking” in bed, they still had their cute moments. When the angst got turned on full force, though, the rest of the novel felt if it wasn’t an angst-filled scene, it was a bed scene. No more communication or interaction. So, while I loved the beginning, I didn’t love the second half. However, I was too invested in YZC and Bo Bing to put down the novel.

The idea of this story was really compelling to me. Soldier on a spy mission has to hide his true identity from his love, causing all sorts of pain and misunderstanding. Some of the scenes are heartbreaking — for example, when YZC holds Bo Bing’s hand and stabs himself with the knife she is holding, or when he races to the airport, frantic and bleeding, and calls to Bo Bing to give him 3 minutes and he will tell her all the truth — and so emotionally charged that I was so swept right into the pain with the leads. I felt the story was less gripping when we reach the reunion several years later and YZC is trying to win Bo Bing back. Still, I had to make sure I read their happy ending.

Something I felt about YLWX’s writing is hard to describe. I find her writing does not flow as well as other authors. The storyline is what sucks you in. Contrast this with Gu Man’s Silent Separation, which has a so-so storyline, but her use of words is eloquent and poignant. But, Wedding Night’s two leads and your emotional investment in them is what brings this book together and helped make up for the other flaws.

    Hi Decembi
Thank you for your response. Apologies for the comment above. I was in rush and didn’t proof-read it before publishing it.

At the beginning, I did find the male lead a little too crazy and psychotic but afterwards I’d thought there was a plausible reason for his behaviour. Perhaps the pain of a deferred heart had made him a little obsessive. From what I’d gathered a family matter caused him to leave her. I think he never thought they’ll meet up again. When they did, all the pent-up passion…

You’re absolutely right, it’s such an intense novel.Thank you for letting me it will be a happy ending 🙂

I prefer a happier ending rather than a sad one. It was interesting to read how the author reconciled their crazy relationship. Although, it was easy to deduce their past right from the beginning…

I was a little surprised at how short it was. It would have been nice to have more scenes of their married life. Overall, it was a pleasant read. I’ll definitely read her other c-novels.

BTW: Based on your recommendation, I did read Hamster’s translated c-novel Three Lives, Three World. I shall make my comments on the appropriate thread.
