I’m not a fan of the Wolf book either. Have you started on the other book I recommended, peanuts? The one about the mute girl mistaking the older twin brother for the younger one who she’s in love with.

I’ve been doing my usual browsing to see the latest books with the most buzz and stumbled upon 殇璃 by 雪灵之. I haven’t read the book yet, but there’s a drama adapted from it that just aired a few months ago called 倾城绝恋.

So I ended up doing what I do best, marathoning the drama even though I could only decipher one or two Chinese words. I could piece together the plot based on reading spoilers. I hate, HATE, HAAATTTTEEEE~~ Mickey He with an irrational intense passion in Yu Zheng’s productions. It took a lot of effort, but once I got over my prejudice, I think he does a decent job as the main guy. I like the story a lot! If you ever wonder what would happen if Min Min in Bu Bu Jing Xin had married 13th prince, this story is what I think would have happened.

    Linky where to watch: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLC1992C59A18BB0FE

I found the ending very touching and beautiful as Mickey rearranges the stones. Initially, the main girl made the stones and the message means Mickey will come and take her away. He’s always carried the stones with him. At the last moment, he rearranges the stones so the message says she’s taking him away! gahhh, so beautiful!!!

I guess ppl say it’s a sad ending, but to me it’s a bittersweet happy ending because they’re finally together!

I am still reading abt your perverted boss, lol. I’ll post & read your twin brothers book later as I can’t read too much of this kind of book or else it’ll drive me up the wall, haha…

Hey, i was planning to read 殇璃 by 雪灵之 but dropped it like a hot potato once I read the summary & ending. Are you sure it is something like Min Min marrying 13th prince? Are you sure the drama is similar to the book? Sorry, I do not like Mickey He. I am shallow so no matter how good is the story, I cannot watch a Mickey drama if he is the lead. I think Yu Zheng & Mickey are in a r/s, lol.

According to the summary I read, the female lead likes the male lead since young but he doesn’t like her & even banished her to the cold palace. Later, I think bcos of his grandma or her dad’s power, he treated her better. In the meantime, there is another guy who likes & always help the girl but later he got killed in the war. When the girl is pregnant, the male lead thinks it is the dead guy’s baby & treated the baby badly. His other wife also gave birth to a baby who he dotes on. The girl is rather sad abt it & I think she committed sucide & left a note asking the male lead to treat their son well. The male lead is remorseful but all is too late. Correct me if I am wrong as I am rather forgetful. Such sad story !!! I wanna throw stones at this male lead. So, I am not going to touch this book !!!!

I think 殇璃 is a good scenario of what could happen were Min Min to marry 13th prince. Min Min’s father doesn’t want his daughter marrying into the royal house because he believes the backstabbing, restrictive rules of society & political struggles would crush Min Min’s spirit because she grew up wild and free in Mongolia. This possibility is explored in 殇璃 with tragic results.

I haven’t read the book, but def plan to. It’s just been published so got to wait sometime before some kinds souls share it for the rest who can’t buy. From reading spoilers, I get the impression the book isn’t that different from the drama. The one big change is that in the drama, the main guy has feelings for the main girl from the start. In the book, the main girl falls in love first and relentlessly pursues the main guy, but he always pushes her away. His ideal wife is a demure maiden, not someone fearless and wild like her. She’s banished to the cold palace and released after quite some time. This changes her personality and crushes her spirit because she’s finally buckled under the pressures of how a young woman should act during that time period. Ironically, finally she becomes his ideal woman and his obsession of her begins. However, at this point, she no longer has the courage to fight for their love.

As for the reason for her banishment to the cold palace, in the drama it’s because she accidentally kills the king’s favorite concubine. The king wants to kill her so the main guy saves her by suggesting banishment to the cold palace instead.

I haven’t read the book so can’t comment on the main guy. From reading the opinions of ppl who’ve read the book, I get the impression that the main guy loves her a lot. The situation is similar to XYW’s Waiting in Memories where the main guy loves the main girl, yet can’t trust her which leads to tragic results. In the end, she commits suicide to prove her innocence, that she didn’t betray him and her son is not illegitimate, in order to secure her son’s future.

Trust me, no one hates Mickey more than I do!!!! But he doesn’t seem so bad in this drama, maybe because the drama isn’t by Yu Zheng so it doesn’t have YZ’s usual gimmicks and shenanigans. When I started watching, I was vomiting blood and crying out against Mickey. Why him as the main guy of all ppl?!?!!!! WHY?!!! But I gradually made peace with it. Dare I say I even liked him a little in the end when he was rearranging the stones? I’m glad the end shows the two of them meeting and holding hands because it’s good closure.

Hey, you told me you don’t read books with sad ending. But with the rate you are reading books, you’ve no choice as there is no more happy ending book left:P This book sounds like Eastern Palace.

There is a big diff b/w the book & the drama as in the book the girl committed sucide & died leh but you get a happy ending with the drama. I salute you, able to watch a 50 episode drama without understanding the language & with Mickey as the lead. Why the producer doesn’t find someone better looking? Actually, since I hate the guy, it is appropriate to cast Mickey, lol. Urrrgh, don’t start singing praises of Mickey to me, I don’t wanna hear, lol…..

Tell me after you’ve read the book, how can a guy who loves her a lot doesn’t trust her & make her resort to such desperate measure as to take her own life??? I can’t ship this kind of guy who indirectly killed the female lead !!! At least in Memories, the girl didn’t die. If I read this book, I sure end up wanting to beat up the guy:( I think with my temperament I better don’t read those palace rivalry kind of book as I can’t stand the guys most of the time. Only make me angry:(

Bcos of what you wrote, I went to baidu & read some comments. Nearly all the ppl scold the male lead Jing Xuan like mad. Some even said he is the most despicable male they’ve ever read & called him rubbish, lol. In the end, he died in the war & his dying wish is to meet the female lead in afterlife. Some treat it as a happy ending in that they can meet in death. But some said dying is too good an ending for him. He should live in regret & sadness for the rest of his life. Wah, he is really hated in baidu.

Most ppl like the supporting male Yong He. Bcos Jing Xuan doesn’t like the girl, she already wanna give up & accept Yong He who has been good to her. However Jing Xuan won’t let her go & I think caused the death of Yong He. Worse it that Jing Xuan married another girl as the lawful wife for political reason & our lead girl is the little wife only:( OMG, such an awful awful guy, even worse than what his name in Eastern Palace. One word of advise fr peanuts, don’t read this book bcos it is sad fr beginning to end as per baidu. If you insist, then get ready your box & tissue & don’t say I didn’t warn you:P

Sorry to hijack this post to talk abt ancient books on political power & love. There are 2 highly rated books which are of similar genre to your 殇璃. The good things are there are a lot of nice MVs with actors better looking than Mickey:P in tudou & the books are of more grand & epic scale. The bad news it they do not have good endings but they are not tears fr beginning to end like 殇璃. Lidge, have you read 帝王业 by 寐语者 & 红颜乱 by 朵朵舞? I am not going to post these 2 books bcos I dislike books with bad ending. Maybe skyblu will be interested:)

Ooh, this sounds really good, and right up my alley too! Do you know if the audiobook has been completed?

I’ve been catching up on Pillow Book quietly and I just feeling like crushing a hundred, no scratch that, a thousand tomatoes at Dong Hua. Seriously, what a jerk! Feng Jiu, you can do so much better than that jerk-head! At least I felt sorry for Ye Hua even though he was rather insipid, but Dong Hua? He has some major ‘splaining to do. Get out of line. Anybody else find Yan Chi Wu and Lian Song rather cute?

LOL, I have four exams this week and really shouldn’t be on SSB, but I can’t help it…nooo atsu-chan what are you thinking? You would prefer this awful Jing Xuan guy over (my) wonderful, hilarious, ingenious Donghua? :p I love him way more than Yehua and all of the male leads in Hua Xu Yin. In fact he’s the only male lead of Tang Qi Gong Zi’s that I like, haha.
