    • I just type the text [Audiobook] and then click the hyperlink icon on top of the text box (paper clip thingy) while having "Audiobook" highlighted. A box will pop up, you can enter in the link to the audiobook page you found there.

Am I getting your question right?

This website is still run very manually hehe...
It would be great if we can somehow edit the coding to somehow have additional fields to plug in those standard infos like [Ebook][Audiobook][English Translation] upon making a new book post because they're on every post!

    • Hey xiaOyuer, you are a really fast reader. Can read so many books as well as update your blog in so little time:) I am only in the middle of my listening, drifting in & out of sleep, haha...Yes, it got interesting after I found out who is the 2nd bro. Initially I was wondering why concentrate on her bro, a side character. After I read your summary, I understand the story better as I was skipping around. Oh, Wang Ye is such a sweet guy & they are a funny couple who is after my heart, LOL.

Don't you find most of the time travel books have too many modern references & the heroines have modern mentality & do not adapt to their time era? In order to fit in, like Ruoxi in BBJX, one needs to change to the mentality of that era. Also, none of the books I read so far have them time travel back to modern era. Will be nice to have a book with parallel universe or how time travelling affects their present. After they time travel, the present is sort of forgotten & seldom or never mention.

      • As I said before, there is an inverse relationship between the amount of time I spend sleeping and how interesting a book is. :P

I definitely agree with you. A lot of authors use time-travel to explain why the main girl's personality is so different from the other girls of the time period, but I usually don't think it's necessary. Sometimes, the main guy doesn't even find out that the girl is from a different time period. In Song In the Peach Blossoms, the main girl tells the Wang Ye/King that she's from a different time period when she though she was about to die from poison and his reaction was very muted. If I found out that my significant other was from two thousand years from the future, I would definitely be very shocked and demand for an explanation or run away because I thought he was crazy.

What I did like about Song in the Peach Blossoms was that the author did mention what happened to her other body, but I wonder if her parents every realized that she suddenly had a change in personality? I love the author's humor in this novel, especially that scene where the deity who placed her soul in this body appeared to her in a dream as Chow Yun Fat and she asked him to change into someone more handsome, like Huang Xiao Ming. When he did, I was rolling around, laughing like crazy. :D Like her, I also think HXM is more handsome than Chow Yun Fat, though my dad told me that Chow Yun Fat played a much more three-dimensional Xu Wen Qiang that HXM did in Shanghai Bund.

I think in the end of 美人殇, the main girl An Ruo/Xiao Xiao travels back to the modern era with the man she loves, Dong Zhuo. I haven't finished it yet because I can't really stand the main girl, but there is a sequel to in which she makes a small cameo appearance.

Btw peanuts, I LOVE your avatar! It's so cute!

        • lol the body Dong Zhuo went into in the modern era was Hua Tuo's modern body, an actor. I haven't read that novel yet, but I already don't like her based on the small cameo appearance. Can't bare to read an entire novel about her.

oh dear, I just realized that the Shanghai Bund version I watched was 1980. haha b4 I was even born. Chow Yun Fat was pretty handsome back than. lol I like HXM more though.

        • Wah, being sleep deprived, you must be looking like a panda now, haha...Thank you, as I like my avatar also, heeehee....It is you crying over a book & Chancy, Raini, Atsu, other scholars & me consoling & sharing your tears or vice versa:P

Haha, yes I woke up immediately when I heard CYF & HXM's names being mentioned. It is funny but I feel that this is so out of context in a historical book so I didn't categorise this book as historical. Btw is the dynasty this book based on unknown? I don't know abt it so I put it as unknown, haha..I didn't watch Shanghai Bund with HXM because I don't like him as Wai Siu Bo. He is handsome but he gives me the bad vibe:P

This book is mixed. It is cute & interesting but as well as bland & boring. The author needs to edit out the boring bits because I am fast forwarding them. I practically fast fwded all those bits without Wang Ye, hahaha...

Actually this book can do without the time travel since she never return to the present & there is no analysis of the repercussion of time travelling. Can just explain the girl is different because she is crazy:P or she is ahead of her time. It is possible for people to be ahead or behind time as I believe there are still people in this world who behave like they are living in ancient China:P The only reason the author put the time travelling element is just so she can swoon at HXM:P

          • Yup definitely a panda right now. Haha, I do always seem to cry over the smallest scenes. I can't believe I got through two tear-inducing books in a row. Now, I need to re-read Heavy Sweetness, Ash-like Frost. :D

I went back and looked. Most of the story takes place in Qi Guo but some parts take place in Li Guo. I'm assuming Li Guo is the Dali in DGSD? I've narrowed the time period down to either Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms, or Spring and Autumn. You never know about Spring and Autumn because there were so many little kingdoms during that time period...

Yes, the authors really need to find a more creative theme than just time traveling. I really liked how in Eastern Palace and DMY, the main girls were brave and outspoken without being time-travelers. :D

  • SPOILER from xiaOyuer:

I also thought the beginning was a bit boring but I began to like it when her Second Brother's identity is revealed. So the guy she liked in the modern world does end up marrying Li Yan, the girl he proposed to. However, in the main girl's dream, she sees their marriage slowly falling apart, and a deity tells her that the person she is destined for is by her side in this new world she travelled to. The love triangle is a bit strange, because I think the author decided to switch second male leads halfway through. I can't really remember the names too clearly, but Song is the second male lead for the first half and the King of Dali (?) is the second male lead for the second half. The main lead is a young Wang Ye (brother of the current king) who first appears by masquerading as her Second Brother.

Basically, the old king knows that he is about to die and his queen's family has already been abusing their power. He secretly transfers the throne to his younger brother, the Wang Ye, and the Wang Ye brings the girl along with him on his journey to win back his crown from the corrupt old Queen's family. They slowly fall in love, but once he becomes king, all the powerful court officials pressure him to expand his harem when all he wants is the main girl as his queen. She knows that with his unsteady grip on the throne then, he cannot lose the support of those officials, but as a modern woman, she also cannot allow her husband to have consorts, so she tells him that she doesn't want to be queen, she just wants to live the rest of her life peacefully. She leaves him and the palace, but he catches up to her at the palace gates and tells her that he doesn't want to be king anymore, that she is the most important to him. They leave but she secretly calls his men to take him back to the palace because she knows that his country needs him more than she does. For three years, she travels around as a woman doctor while he strengthens his grip on the throne. He has other consorts, but has never touched them, while she meets the King of Dali, who falls in love with her spirit. However, she has a poison in her body that nearly kills her, but she is jointly saved by the King of Dali and the main male lead. The main male lead manages to destroy the officials who were pressuring him before and completely takes control of his country. He brings her back into the palace as his queen and the other consorts are allowed to leave and live the rest of their lives as they want to.

I think the only time-traveling plot I've seen with parallel universe on how it effects their future was inside the Myth drama (Hu Ge & Bai Bing).

I have feeling I might like this novel.

    SPOILER from xiaOyuer:

Thanks you 2 for the summary! It sounds sweet. It doesn't sound too fluffy either which is good. So does she ever go back to the modern times?

If it's an unknown dynasty, likely she's dreaming. Inside the BBJX "drama" at the end I also feel it's only a dream. Especially when people say that Nicky was the driver who ran into her and lots of the people she last saw showed up in Qing Dynasty.

  • Hey Chancy, are you starting this book? I take back what I wrote on xia0yuer's tumblr. This book is starting to grow on me after 50 chapters. The plot is fairly interesting & exciting. The OTP is really funny & heart warming. Xia0yuer, you've fairly similar taste like me in books so in future I shall trust your rating on them:)

    • After fifty chapters?! What part are you on? I got a little bored in the middle when the male lead was off fighting to get his kingdom because she basically just stayed in her medicine brewing room the entire time.

I think my favorite part was after she left the palace and began to travel with the King of Dali and his Thirteenth Brother.

      • 50 chapters of the audiobook. I am at the part where she is reunited with Wang Ye after thinking he has died. Haha, such a funny reunion scene. Is the King of Dali the man she saved in the temple? The 2nd male lead, Song's character is pretty boring & pale in comparison to Wang Ye. The only funny part with him is Min wants to call him 'ge'ge' instead of teacher & he commented, 'you really have a lot of 'ge'ge', lol. I enjoy this author sense of humour very much as well as the adventures to reclaim the throne. The big & small monks are also funny & when she sings to them, lol

    • no I haven't started it yet. I really want to, I have a weird thought that this reminds me of a old TVB LOCH prequel that talks about Nan Di of Dali since the main girl in that one was a doctor too. I want to read another Tang Qi Gong Zi novel first. Too much books. I think I need a dice to roll, a coin has too less sides.

      • I watched the old TVB LOCH but who is Nan Di of Dali? Which Tang Qi novel are you reading now or you haven't finished Twice Blooming Flowers? If you need something light with a dash of adventures this is for you. Maybe will turn teary later as I am only less than half way thru the book.

      • If you ever start reading the audiobook, beware that some chapters are missing or in reversal order. I think I searched the whole internet yet can't find the missing chapters so I am kind of annoyed:( Also, there is a change in reader less than midway thru the book. Not to say the new reader is bad but I am used to the old one already so I am extremely unhappy with the change so I am thinking of putting this book on hiatus. Also, I feel the new reader sound mature & sharp. Probably I just need to get used to her. Don't know why all the aunties like to do long books, haha...

  • No, it is a long & draggy novel. If you understand Mandarin, you can listen to the summarised radio drama.

  • does the future play a huge role in this novel? (like the butterfly effect, or the female lead knows whats going to happen in history so she tries to change stuff...)
    恩儿

    • According to my cheesy memory, nope. This is not BBJX :P I think she uses her medical knowledge to heal. An okay book if it is not so draggy !!!!
