Nobody loves like Qin Qing and Song Zi Yan, making people laugh endlessly and deeply. Their”Unspoken Love Rules” are so sweet and warm. In order to get her lecturer Song Zi Yan to change her fail grade in an elective, Qin Qing decided to “confess” her love. Surprisingly, this campus idol lecturer actually took her seriously and suggested they start dating. Later, she found a job in a company where he is the general manager. Thereafter, their relationship and interactions with each other stir up a series of jokes and laughters: interview, welcome cocktail party, Qingdao night etc
Incredible “unspoken rules” and “operations guide”, read how white female submerges the abdominal black male. Male bully female is not refreshing ! The most bizarre “hidden rules” and “operations guide”, see how a white silly female sinks a belly black male boss with love.
[Ebook] [Audiobook] [Radiodrama] [Chết! Sập bẫy rồi!] [Viet Audiobook]
Hahaha, this is a funny book. At the same time the hilarous scenes are not forced or over the top. The languge used also quite std & not stupid. Also, there is a little bit of angst in it as well as I read there will be another credible competitor for the girl’s love. I’ve only read abt 3 chapters. Felt a bit sad for the girl when the guy pretended he doesn’t know her:( So far, I like both the leads as they come across as rather normal & well-liked. Looking fwd to see how their r/s will develop.
Hey lidge, I know you love this book so I posted the Viet book cover for you to drool on, lol. You’ve such shinning & sparkling teeth/smile, haha…Btw, I dropped Funv Gaga after 4 chapters bcos that book is dumb. I can’t really understand the language used & I don’t find it funny.
It’s rare for me to like a story after the first chapter, and this was one such instance. I loved it from the get-go because of the Friends reference, which is one of my favorite sitcoms. Clip of the “genius” idea copied by QQ: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pEw1LgrbTNQ. Love dorky Ross, lol.
I made the mistake of reading this at work and ended up laughing out loud. My boss ran over in alarm, crying “What has happened?! What has happened?!” thinking something was wrong since I hollered out loud, lol.
Props to peanuts for tracking down the Viet cover. Hey peanuts, I was browsing and read from another reader that there’s a story similar to this one so I’m checking it out right now!!! Woot! Woot!^^
Tell me, what is the name of that book? There are plenty of similar books but is it good? The storyline can be more or less the same but the author’s skill is very impt. Funv Gaga is also kind of similar but that one is plain dumb. Heehee, that is why I dare not read this in my office now:P How did you explain to your boss? Did you tell him you ‘love’ him to get out of that sticky situation, lol?
Btw, you still owe me some summaries of some sad & happy books:P
I told my boss I saw something funny online. I can’t use the “love confession” on my boss because my boss is a fifty-something woman. I’m saving it for when I have a hot guy as boss, lol.
Haha, the title is funny – Pirate Ship, Wait for Me:P Remember to tell me nice or not. The review for this book isn’t that promising as not many ppl have read it. Also, the author doesn’t normally write funny book. As per comments, beginning good but later boring. Viet readers do love funny books as pactically all sort of funny books be it nice or not also get translated:P
Have you tried the ‘love’ confession on anyone? your lecturer, lol?
I’ve yet had to use the “love confession” (fortunately for the person getting the confession? lol) but will not hesitate to use it if there’s a need^^
Peanuts, hope you get to part of the welcome party where QQ meets the tampon lady and resorts to singing Happy Birthday because it’s the only English song she knows. Very funny!!
I wonder if the ‘love’ confession work in real life. If someone do that to me, I fail him immediately, haha….
Hey, I am curious to know what did QQ say in Japanese during the interview that make SZY hired her immediately? She spoke something fr a Jap drama. Yah, welcome party is my next chapter. Gonna laugh my head off tonight, lol.
I’m curious too, but the book doesn’t clarify on this point. We don’t know what QQ said because she doesn’t even know herself, lol. Since it’s from a conversation between a married couple from a romance movie, I’m guessing something romantic like “I love you” or based on the movie title, probably “I can’t live without you” or something similar. This would explain SZY’s shock reaction.
I think the success probability of the “love confession” depends on the looks of the speaker, lol.
Bah, I though he revealed it in subsequent chapter. I guess I’ve to use my imagination:P I don’t know how to say I love you in Jap but I know how to say it in Korean, lol. What I like abt this book is the humour is quite subtle, not the in your face kind. That guy is quite bad told the girl he doesn’t like smart girl. This is quite realistic as I think most guys are scare of intelligent girls. Oh, such a pity I am smart, lol.
Wah lidge, you are so judgmental & so unprincipled:P No matter how he looks like, fail fail fail, lol. While researching your pirate book, I found a few books worth checking out this weekend. I’ll post the good one. My parents coming back fr holi on Sun so cannot stay up anymore to read:(
Sorry, I’m not sure what happened to the forum page here….? Hopefully nobody minds me putting this comment here, but are most of the writers here from the Mainland? Seems like there aren’t as many tw or hk romance authors posted.
Chancy is trying to fix some problems on this website. You can make any comments on any Chinese books. We don’t really look at the nationality of the authors. We just post whatever books we come across fr audiobook website, baidu, forum etc & like to share them. I think most of the Chinese books are written by authors from mainland due to their large population. I only know Qiong Yao who is fr Taiwan. I’ve never read her book but saw some drama adapted fr her books. I feel her storylines are outdated now. Pls feel free to post any books by any authors fr Tw or HK.
Haha…I don’t know many HK or TW authors either, that’s why 🙁
Yup, whatever that interests us we just post up. I’m sure there are some popular HK or TW authors, but really hard to search them out. Maybe because Mainland is so big so the numbers of authors there is also plentiful, so when you find a good book, likely at least 9 out of 10 books is from Mainland. The only HK author i know is Jin Yong. haha
Peanuts, check out this book: 生活不難,只要懂得安放你的心 (Life is not hard, as long as you know how to safe keep your heart) by Liu Han Fei
This one is by Taiwanese author. I think TW novels will be more romantic. I might read this book this week. Will post it up when I start it.
I don’t think Jin Yong can be considered a HK author. I think he was born in China but migrated to HK then moved back to China. He can speak Mandarin better than Cantonese. Haha, my Cantonese is better than him:P But his work was 1st published in HK & gained fame there so maybe he can be considered a HK author.
Ok, I’ll check out the book but lately I don’t have much time to read as I am obssessed with Who Gets the World:P
Lidge, lidge, what are you eating, watching & reading, lol? I didn’t manage to finish this book at the weekend but nearly there. The part where she needs to go to toilet urgently & have to do it in the wilderness is not funny bcos this happened to me b4:( Overall the story is not exactly very funny, only bits & pieces here & there. It is quite serious at times especially when they breakup. I don’t like the girl. She is so dumb. Why she kept on thinking he is gay & can’t let go of the 1st love? I wanna give her a hard shake, lol. The male lead is kind of similar in book of this kind. I like that IT manager who loves to watch ghost story the best. Arrrrgh, I ship him & wanna watch with him, haha….
I associate Jin Yong with HK too because of TVB series.
I had some good Vietnamese food today, hehe, steamed rice cakes (http://khas-kitchen.blogspot.com/2009/08/banh-beo-steamed-rice-cakes-with-cotton.html) and pate chaud (http://www.theravenouscouple.com/2010/03/pate-chaud-banh-pate-so.html). Vietnam used to be colonized by France so there’s a lot of French influences, one of which is pate chaud. It’s similar to European pastries except the filling is meat, not fruits.
I’m finishing that story by 心雯 that’s similar to XYW’s So You’re Still Here/Original. The title translated into Eng. is something like Why I Always Love You or something. I’m only about 1/3 done. Then I plan to move onto Egg Egg’s 织心. I like this story so far. The male lead is pressured to have a child in order to cement his power so he can inherit the family’s conglomerate and he’s in competition with his half-brothers. Problem is the female lead, his wife, has a complicated blood type so it’s hard for her to have a baby.
The female leads in funny, goofy stories are usually not intelligent, but I think of them as naive so the funny situations would make sense, lol. Yes, these stories are kind of alike and usually not meaningful, but I prefer to read these at the moment to distract me from the stress of real life and the sad stories I read, lol.
Hey, I saw your msg today pending approval so I approved it. This website is getting weird, lol. I was surprised few days didn’t hear fr u. I tut u might have gone to Vietnam:) Did you read the spoiler I wrote for you in Eclipse heart? Hey Chancy, if you are reading, some of the book covers are missing. Also, how come I stole lidge & skyblu’s books & you stole some of my books, lol? It is no big deal but I’ve a habit of editing my book summaries every now & then to improve them:P
I’ve to take compulsory leave fr Xmas eve till after new yr:( Don’t know what to read at home as I am tired of happy & sad books. Maybe, I go back to watch drama. In Love with Power, Hawick’s new Manchu drama is out. Btw, don’t watch that super boring TVB drama with Damian Lau. Such a stupid & silly one, wasting time. 织心 isn’t a funny story. How it gonna distract u fr real life stress? Maybe I follow u to read it so we can chat abt it. Which one of 心雯’s books you like best?
Can’t do anything, can’t go anywhere, can’t buy anything – no money, lol.
Will you watch In Love? Hawick was my first TV crush so I always have a soft spot for him (remember A Kindred Spirit? gahhh, I thought he was sooo cute). Yes, thanks for the warning about SSSS. I was debating whether or not to watch because I heard it’s funny, but then I don’t like the ppl in it so I haven’t really felt like watching it. TVB doesn’t seem to have anything interesting coming up.
I don’t watch K-drama as much as I used to, but have you seen Answer Me 1997? I highly recommend it. The writing is very good, the drama is funny, plus the male lead is cute, hehe. Secret Garden with Hyun Bin and Ha Ji Won is pretty funny too, well at least the beginning and middle. I still haven’t seen the end eps because I lost interested when the drama went all angsty/sickness/coma towards the end.
织心 isn’t funny, but ugghhhh, I totally blame you, peanuts. You asked about Egg Egg 113 so when I rechecked her stories because the ones I read were so long ago, I ended up reading a bit of 织心. Now I have to finish because I want to know the ending, lol. When I’m done, I think I need a break. After finishing FWSC’s 寂寞空庭春欲晚 and finding out the ending for Eclipse Heart, I’m feeling a bit down and need time for my feelings to recover, lol.
I’m iffy about recommending 心雯 because I don’t think her writing is strong compared to other writers we like. Her stories are lighthearted, similar to Gu Man’s except they’re not as funny or cute.
Abt 6 episodes are out so I’ll wait & see how is the feedback. China tv is showing 3 episodes a nite so should end pretty fast. There are too many love lines in that drama till I get all confuse. Hawick looks quite good in it eventhough he is half bald. Anyway, you need to wait longer as u can’t understand Mandarin:P Trust me SSSS stands for Stupid Silly Shallow Shitty. The Confidant is quite nice at the beginning then boring towards the end but nonetheless worth your time.
Hey, you are really my twin sis bcos I stopped Secret Garden when the drama went all angsty/sickness/coma towards the end. The beginning is really funny & nice. I’ll give Answer me 1997 a try. Btw I saw Nice Guy which is pretty nice if you like the angsty kind but it is not funny. Queen In Hyun’s man is also good. I plan to watch Cheongdamdong Alice bcos I am a Park Shi Hoo’s fan, lol.
Actually Egg’s book is ok as although the story is angsty, the ending is usually happy. Also, some of her plot is pretty refreshing, not the usual storyline. Just that in some of her books, either the male or female are just not likeable & irriate me till I don’t care abt the ending. Ok, I trust your taste so I won’t touch 心雯 books.
Oh Peanuts, what can I say? This book is making me laugh so hysterically that I have to stop reading to take break!! The interview dialogue was just too priceless!! And I have to give credit to Qin Qing for being able to think out of the box when she was asked to sing an English song during the welcome party. For crying out loud, I was putting myself in her shoes and was thinking, “oh, my god, what am I going to do….?”.
So far, I’ve learned two things to apply in real life from this book :- 1) honesty is the best policy, never lie in your résumé; and 2) if ever I am being forced to sing a Mandarin song, I will croon 祝你生日快乐…….祝你生日快乐……..
Ok…I am getting back to the book now…
See, peanuts never recommends turkey to u, lol. Only the best since I’ve my reputation at stake as the Chinese novels ‘guru’, haha…..Reading novels has its advantage in that you can steal some of their ideas to apply in real life, heehee…I did that b4 but I am not gonna tell u which one:P
There are many ‘funny’ books out there but this is one of the better one as some I read are downright stupid which is more annoying than funny:) But I think this a tad draggy & I don’t understand why Qin Qing is still so into the other guy when she has Song Zi Yan. I don’t really fancy the girl. I like Zi Yan better, heehee…
Finally, I finished Kao. I so thoroughly enjoyed this book. I love it although it started off really funny and after a while, I got kind of irritated with QinQing. She is just too dumb. Her never ending domino-effect calamities were all brought on by her stupidity which got rather ridiculous.
But, but….before I knew it, I was really got into QinQing’s character. I started seeing things from her perspective. She’s supposed to be dumb, air-headed, inexperience, naive, silly, unpolished, without looks, figure or taste. SongZiYan is the opposite extreme. He’s supposedly the cream of the crop, charming, cool, rich, handsome, smart, successful….
She’s stupid enough to be bullied and conned into a relationship and cohabitation arrangement by SongZiYan without a clue as to what’s happening. As time goes by, she starts to develop feelings for him but she questions how he feels about her. Let’s not forget she’s supposed to be dumb, how would she know if he doesn’t come clean with his feelings for her. SongZiYan knows exactly how he feels, what and who he wants. Unfortunately, she does not (remember, she’s the stupid end of the equation), so why keep her guessing? SuYaWen makes an appearance and confesses that he’s still having a hangover on her. Who’s to be blamed that she scoots off back to SuYaWen then. While all these time, SongZiYan said nothing, although he had all the time and opportunities with her. She only knows and feels that SongZiYan treats her in a special way, and I agree this is not good enough. If someone keeps me guessing and refuses to say the three words (although I personally don’t think it is so important), I will definitely give him a punch and walk off in huff.
As a lead male character, I still prefer my Jiang Li (from Flash Marriage) but as a book, I prefer Kao which has all my fav ingredients in the right proportions – plenty of humour, a little bit of tears and a pinch of angst.
Peanuts, thank you so much, for telling me to read this book again and again.
And I have a question, why do most of the female leads come off as unattractive, silly, stupid, pathetic….while the lead males are always the complete opposite? And while the female leads are portrayed as second-grade human beings, they always end up having a bunch of very eligible high grade male characters falling for them!!!!
Thank you Xinn for always posting such hilarious and wonderful reviews of books I recommended. In future, you need to read the book I recommend immediately & don’t make me repeat myself:P
I guess there are several reasons for that. Maybe opposite attracts. High grade male usually comes with huge ego:P So, he needs a stupid girl to fangirl him, lol. Also, is to sell the book as well as hope to second-grade girls:) Lastly, to bring more humour to the book when they are not evenly matched in wits and looks. Anyone has any other explanation?
Which book next? Heavy taste? If you want smarter girl, go for Gu Man’s Wei Wei which Seoul has just finished. It is not exactly very funny but rather sweet & nice.
I have decided to ditch Heavy Taste since reading your last comment about it,
I was actually thinking of GuMan’s Wei Wei but since everyone seems to be drooling over Xiao Bai, I thought might as well I jump into the bandwagon and read 然后、爱情随遇而安 instead!!!
Haha…I am now skimming over the first few pgs of both books. I shld come to a decision by tonight.
I’m baccckkkkkk……..:)
Thanks peanuts n Xinn for this book….totally hilarious!
But qq is really really dumb…I cannot take it!! She’s supposed to major in English rite? Then how come she can’t speak it well?
And then the pouring of the drink on szy…wah…didn’t it occur to her it’s not the rite time to do it? And she didn’t even clarify it with him first or find out the truth….
But I think yellow hair did it on purpose rite? He likes qq? Did he do it to try and break them up so he can have her?
And by golly!!!!! How can she spurt such crappy personal stuff at a wedding with tonnes of impt guests?? Only in stories…hahahaha…..
But I love the funny bits in the story….only thing is I find a lot of hanging ends….like how is syw related to szy and why he calls him third brother…..and how is the other girl related to szy that she also calls him third brother….since they say he’s the only son…..hhmmmm…
What happened to that xinn xinn, MIA for so long? I thought both of you have ran away together, lol. You are very serious in your reading, so many qns. Do you make note while reading haha? Wait for xinn or lidge to answer you as I forgot why but it was explained in the book. Yah, this book is funny but that qq is annoying, always thinking abt her ex bf what is the name.
Hahaha……Xinn Xinn…where art thou??
Eh….dunno….just tat I tend to remember things like tat…..if only I can remember my books and info just the same way…..now…tat would be good… :p
Ya….but I guess it’s coz szy does not give her assurance…..he never says I love u….now why the reason??? Xinn, lidge?….but I also guess coz in real life….if I had a guy who left me like tat… I would also keep thinking…we all like to think what if…hmmm…u think?
Sorry Pm, I read this a long time ago so I can’t remember. Maybe XinnXinn can help us out.
Yo, XinnXinn is still around, just happened to be marooned on a deserted island without internet like forever…….haha….been such a buzzzeeee little beeee lately.
I like the way Pm combs thru her books like she’s studying for a major exam!!! I do that too if it’s a serious book but if it’s a comedy I tend not to read too deeply into it. Yeah, I was pretty confused with the relationship between SYW and SZY and the girl but at the end I didn’t really bother to investigate thoroughly because I was having such a huge hangover from the laughs.
But Yellow Hair liked QQ too, I guess when he misled QQ into thinking SZY was his bro-in-law, it was his last ditch effort to win her over.
And although QQ majored in English, don’t forget she’s more stupid than XinnXinn……that should explain QQ’s incompetency….
Yes, I agree I had a major issue with SZY not confessing in QQ’s face that he likes her. Some men are just like that, whether in real life or in the books. At the end, QQ literally had to hold him at gunpoint to get him to confess……and that also he did not really directly say, “I love you”…..I think he just offered something to the tune of “…I do admit that I like you…”
First, I don’t know this novel was is, until I saw the cover which was orange, I recognized it. In Vietnam, we called “Chết, sập bẫy rồi” and I really really love this novel ^^
Yes, this is one of Lidge’s fav novel so we’ve the Viet book cover, haha..This book is really funny but the female lead is just too stupid & shameless:(
Anyone who can understand Mandarin, I recommend you to listen to the funny audio book.
Anyone who read my Shan Shan translation, should I translate this book or another Gu Man’s book next?
Aside from Shan2, the other Gu Man books are not so funny.
I’m really eager to see how you translate QIn Qing’s silly antics!!!
So, my vote goes to Kao!!!!
Ha, you don’t let me translate Blazing Sunlight meh:P? No, bcos I think I can translate faster than Gu Man’s slow writing, lol. Wei Wei is funny but you just can’t get the humour, haha….
Hey, I only translate for those who dun know Chinese so you are banned from reading my work:P Anyway, it all depends on my buddy Lidge since I need her to do half of the work, lol. I bet she’ll say no bcos she is a piggy:P
My dearest peanuts, time for you to get a new buddy 😛
The link for the Audio book doesn’t work anymore. The new one is this: http://www.ximalaya.com/3515028/album/214126
I love the voice for Su Fei, does anyone know who voiced him? Thank you so much!
