What is the rough synopsis of the story? Is it something like 微微一笑?
It is not like 微微一笑. The female character is not very smart. Entirely different from Wei Wei. But it is a great read:)
I read this novel a while back when I was devouring all the C-novels that related to games after having read the most wonderful 微微一笑 by Gu Man. Although 微微 is still undoubtedly the crowning jewel of the game genre (in my humble opinion), this novel is one of the better game novels out there which left an impression on me.
This novel is very different from Wei Wei - here, the female lead, Ning Xin, is truly exemplifies what it means to be entirely clueless about how to play games (of course, a healthy suspension of disbelief is required). After having accidentally reset her character statistics to one whereby her character has no attacking power and defense power, Ning Xin is left with no choice but to continue trying to increase the level of her character through doing mundane things like digging for rocks. Gradually, Ning Xin tires of the game (her few friends having left the game) and is about to quit the game when she meets Mo Shang, who decides to take her under his wing after realising what an innately good (and clueless) person she is. With Mo Shang's insane gaming skills, Ning Xin can now participate in all types of gaming activities and even fight high levelled monsters since Mo Shang would always be there to protect her.
Ning Xin and Mo Shang's journey from the virtual world to the real world is also rather gradual, as Mo Shang slowly changes his perception from viewing Ning Xin as a sister to a person whom he is romantically attracted to. In reality, due to Mo Shang's frail constitution (he's very ill), Ning Xin gradually learns to take care of others and, in her own special way, grows and matures into someone who can take care of Mo Shang and is not entirely reliant on Mo Shang (like how she is in the game). Thus, the power dynamics gradually even out in the relationship.
@ sparklingdawnlights - it's not exactly similar to WeiWei as WeiWei had two powerful leads whereas the female lead here is, for a lack of a better word, rather silly and naive. However, the story does have its own quirks and if you are able to stomach innocent and naive female leads, this is a rather enjoyable read. (:
I'm so happy that I finally know of the novels instockee(?) illustrated. Or was it another artist? Either way, I loved Wei Wei and the teeny bits of MMO life from Shan Shan. The MMO genre isn't something I'm totally immersed in, but .hack/AI buster was my first introduction into translationed novels many years ago. I hope that this gets translated, too~

I've read plenty of "gaming" genre books after WWYXHQC because I was simply too obsessed with how perfect that OTP was in that novel, and this is truly one of the better gems amidst the pile. It also benefits from the fact that it isn't too difficult to understand the gaming language therein (some novels I read are set in extremely complicated games, and can be fairly tedious to read). I also really liked the progression of the relationship here - in that sense, I do think this novel develops the relationship better than Wei Wei, which can come off as rather sudden.
