Her destiny was changed on the day she was born.
She is an innocent, bright, and beautiful woman. They are peerless sons of nobility. Born to the chaotic North and South warring period, she struggles in that bestial court. There is a large, smart, strange, touching family feud, hatred of a country, love, family, and family. Looking at this confusing world, she smiles, cries, is happy, is depressed, is cheerful, is angry… The only thing that didn’t change is her innate tenderness and kindness, it sharply cuts the darkness, and looks like the most beautiful soul.
After putting on that horrifying mask, from that moment on, she is the exceptionally astonishing King of Lan Ling.
Hey skyblu, you are reading this book bcos you saw the nice trailers for Ariel, FSF & Daniel Chan’s new drama to be released next yr:)? Is there an audio book? The drama is not based on this book right? She is the King of Lan Ling????
Btw Chancy, did you drop this book bcos you don’t like the female lead? Your Bu gege got a new audio book. He & little dream sound good as I think she read your Scarlet Flower of Love. But that story is really long & it sounds boring. Why Bu gege always read long books? I’ve no patient for him, lol.
I never read this book before.
I like the twist that the king of lan ling was actually a woman. That explains ‘his’ beauty and why he needs to wear a mask. Have u read this skyblu? The drama seems to have sad ending. Is this one happy? Or open? Really like the premise of the story.
@peanut, ya i saw. 600000 characters mean its about 200 chaps. Scarlet Flower was only 80. I still haven’t read their other colab. I kinda wish he could do a project with ah shou or siluminyin. Xiao Meng tends to like long internet novels that deals with being a xian. She’s very good but i just have trouble getting into her books.
Should i tell him, bu gege I like your voice but could you please do something shorter with A Shou or Siluminyin as my mandarin is too poor to endure anything more than 100 chapters, lol. Nay, better not as it kind of sound impolite although I’ve no malicious intention & his fans might bash me:P
Oh, I mixed up the Lan Ling you dropped with this Lan Ling. The drama Lan Ling is a man, not a woman. It focuses on the love triangle b/w the 3 leads & power struggle as I saw the 2 trailers. All these sudden influx of Lan Lings are confusing me, lol.
I was thinking to watch that soon!! will do both haha, and compare!
Uh Peanuts, I think it’s ‘that’ Lan Ling and that king that FSF is playing.
This is probably unrelated to the drama Ariel and FSF is in. Although, the trailers looked good. It just seemed to tell two different stories in each trailer as I still cannot make out if FSF is a Wang Ye or a Da Wang yet.
Just decided to read this because I suddenly have a craving for historical romance instead of modern romance, so I flipped through the list of top 100. Lan Ling is a very catchy name. So far so good.
When I watch the drama w/ Ariel and FSF, I don’t think I’ll be able to look at FSF in the correct light. Considering despite “being” a boy, everyone treats her like a girl, and she acts like a girl. Felt so bad for Gao Zhan, although, I can’t say he didn’t have it coming.
I really want Lan Ling Wang to come out so I can marathon/watch it. It should be a mainland schedule right, 2 eps every day? Love it when the two guys are on a generally equal playing field.
I think Peanuts is passing on her allergy to long books. The moment I see more than 150 chapters, I don’t feel like reading. Luckily, this was just barely over a hundred chapters.

Yah, the trailers look good so hopefully it will be released earlier. Nowadays nothing fr mainland to watch:( Although I support Nicky, his Bride with White Hair is just not my cup of tea.
Haha, I am glad I am such a positive influence on you as I am helping you not to waste too much time, lol. On the other hand, I am reading longer modern novels. My last book has abt 90 plus chapters & my current book has 75 chapters. I’ve decided to specialise in modern books & leave the ancient one to all the fans:) Btw, if you are in the mood for a fun & happy read, go for my rabbit book, lol.
I read up some comments on this book. Found out that there are a few guys to ship. I don’t really like books with a few awesome guys bcos I scare I’ll be on the wrong boat & end up drowning in tears. Also, I did defend Vivi on the copycat accusation but after reading abt her responses, I now feel what she has done is too obvious & obnoxious. Thus, I’ve kind of form a negative opinion on her so don’t think I’ll touch this book. I still wanna see FSF in the correct light, lol
Yupp, I definitely went under the wrong ship. Her ending is with Hulu Heng Jia, aka Fox, but I adored Ninth Uncle, Gao Zhan. Even if I was on the right ship, I would still cry because of the other deaths. But Gao Zhan’s love went beyond the boundaries of gender and blood. His love turns obsessive later on, and he hurts her, but the second time was an accident. In the end he learned to and was forced to let go. His eldest son is a moron though, and deserved to die. I felt bad for his wife, but I hated He Tu Kai, wanted to kill him for being a bei bi xiao ren.
Speaking of plagiarism, I was reading another historical novel, He Chu Jin Wu He Cang Jiao (Where is There a Golden House to Hide Jiao), which is based off of the story of Han Wudi and Chen Jia, which lead to the proverb Jin Wu Cang Jiao. There was a heavy section that I felt was borrowed off of Da Mo Yao. Especially the parts with Yi Zhi Xie and Yu Dan, and how Yi Zhi Xie stole Yu Dan’s throne. Too bad the ending felt flat though.
I just can’t see FSF in the right light because of superimposition. Like how watching The Four, the movie with Liu Yi Fei, completely changed the opinion of The Four, the TVB drama for me. I can never look at WuQing in the same light. Since in Liu Yi Fei’s movie, WuQing was a girl, with telepathy and in love LengXue. If you just take the second part and apply it to the TVB drama, you would have Raymond Lam in love with Ron Ng. Weird image.
Personally, I like historical romance better in general. There is the jiang shan vs mei ren conflict, some obsessive, powerful lead(s), power plays, scheming, and backstabbing. The occasional martial arts fight is pretty good too.
Modern romance is usually sweeter, but it often lacks something that makes it powerful? Powerful is not the word I want but it’s kind of hard to put it into words. Inheriting a company doesn’t compare to inheriting a kingdom. Modern romance usually lacks blood, but it does make up for it with the higher look on women. Of course modern era also have more laws and general safety, as you can’t kill someone just because he annoyed you, no matter how much you want to.
Btw, how did vivibear respond to the plagiarism accusation?
Wah, the guy you ship got a son & wife. Yah, another reason I don’t like ancient book is the guy always have a wife or/and other women. I know it is the norm of that time but it just don’t sit well with me. I need to find near perfect guys in my books:P The language in the ancient book is a bit hard to understand so I prefer modern book. Lastly, I prefer watching ancient drama on tv with the rich costume & props. I like the humour & simplicity in modern books, always make me feel very happy:) But I don’t like to watch modern drama on tv.
Btw, I read some fans think Ray Lam & Ron Ng will make a great pair like Brokeback Mountain:) I only read a few out of many comments that criticise Vivi. If you are interested you can find plenty in baidu. I think those I read said Vivi replied those ppl are jealous of her success. Why would a popular author like her copied from less successful books/authors? The comments said Vivi is very proud of herself bcos she is married to a European. Vivi said even if there is similarity, her version is the better & more polished one. I can tolerate sharing of ideas but I cannot support blatant rip-off and being arrogant abt it. I don’t know how true all these are but I prefer to support less controversial authors.
