You Dare Marry Me, I Dare Marry You 你敢娶我敢嫁 – 欣欣向荣 Xin Xin Xiang Rong (HE)

He was suspected of drunk driving on the night she was on duty as a traffic police officer. Unfortunately, they got off on a very wrong footing…..

Hu Jun is notoriously known for his womanising ways and night life. He also happens to be a very influential and  high ranking police officer who does not seem to be very serious with his work.

Xi Zi is a lowly ranking policewoman who is rather cold but a righteous, discipline person and very conscientious about her work.

He was forced to go on a blind date by his mother.

She was also forced to do the same by her father.

However, both their blind date candidates did not turn up on time leading to some confusion and resulting in both sides of the parents to mistakenly think that they were the candidates respectively. And coincidentally, Hu Jun’s mother took an immediate liking to Xi Zi, and so did Xi Zi’s father to Hu Jun, so much so that the mistaken identities turned into an unexpected arranged marriage by both the parents there and then.

Both Hu Jun and Xi Zi seem to be complete opposites to each other. Is it possible that the two poles apart personalities agree to marry? Yes, if both sides think that it would save them from future blind dates and yes (again), if it became a dare. Yes, if you dare marry me, I dare marry you…..

However, the marriage will only be for sake of convenience and purely platonic, they agree to continue to lead their own individual lives behind the scene while pretending to be a loving couple in front of their parents…..or so Xi Zi thinks…..

  • Hu Jun is really funny and super cute especially the way he started changing from a womaniser to a caring, attentive and doting husband. He used to scoff at his friends for pampering their wives but soon, he realised that he was no different if not worse. He does everything for his wife to the extent that he even puts on her shoes for her.

As the marriage was supposed to be platonic, it was so hilarious with Hu Jun thinking up all sorts of ways to bed Xi Zi. And as time passes, he also became an extremely jealous and possessive husband. Hu Jun is definitely one of the funniest characters I have come across in all the Chinese books I have read so far.

  • Wah, I can see you've been keeping yourself busy, double dosage somemore. You ate so much abalone, you are not sick of them? Get some variety in your diet before you over-eat:P

How can he be promoted to high ranking officer when he is not serious with his work? Hey, that is putting our life at risk !!! He is really that funny meh? Let me check him out to verify that, haha...

  • Actually, I finished these two books some weeks back, I just did not have the time to post them.

Heehee....I don't think I'll ever get sick of these cute and funny books, in fact, I can't seem to get enough of them.

  • Yes yes Xinn.....give me more of these cute cute books...I like.....I need some happiness...I'm so stressed.....more more fluffy lovey dovey stories......pls pls pls......

  • Just finished!

I actually really enjoyed this book, and wonder if the author has written books for Hu Jun's "brothers". What I liked best about this book is that the main charas treat each other like adults and equals. At first glance, it's like a Cinderella story - young girl means older, rich playboy, who reforms him. But in actual fact, they're both very human with strengths and weaknesses and they reform each other.

Hu Jun is poster child for the old adage, "Reformed rakes make the best husbands". :D

But it should be noted that the content's quite "yellow" - the love scenes are quite many and explicit. o.o

  • So glad that you liked the book too!!!

The two books written on Hu Jun's buddies, Feng Jin Cheng and Zuo Hong are 婚后谋爱/霸爱谋情 and 娟子的彪悍爱情 respectively. But I did not read these two books. Looks like the author left out the third buddy (unless I'm wrong).

In fact, this author has written many books. So far I've read three. The other one that I've posted is Cherished Marriage (very yellow). I've not posted the third book yet, which was also very nice alto not as nice as You Dare Marry Me.

  • Just about finished Feng Jin Cheng's story with Ji Ching.

Not as nice as this one. Hu Jun and Xiao Xi have a cuter story. :P

  • As I suspected, but glad and thanks that you checked it out. I don't have to waste my time on it (unless I totally run out of books to read)!

  • I only read one book by this novelist, title: 婚过去后. I read some time ago and this is the only novel I read so far by this novelist. Think its the story of one of the brothers; Ye Chi, he is a super overbearing, domineering and possessive guy. Extremely jealous and childish...quick temper too and can be quite scary when he gets angry and jealous! To him, if he loves a girl, she is fated to be his in this life time. Even if the girl do not love him now, he will ensure she love him in future...and can love only him alone...

Anyway, I find the story pretty nice and sweet, enjoy reading it. The guy is actually jealous of his own son because he will have to 'share' his wife with him. The relationship of Zuo Hong and Juan Zi's also quite funny as Juan Zi is very fierce and Zuo Hong love her even though he got hit by her all the time...Ye Chi hate Juan Zi as she is the best friend of his beloved wife, hence afraid that this fierce woman will lead his wife astray. But alas, never will he expect his buddy Zuo Hong to be in love with her, his dream of Juan Zi marry far away is ruin! Hahaha.....

However, don't think I will be reading Zuo Hong's story anytime soon. But I will definitely check out Hu Jun and Xi Zi's book over the weekend as their story looks really cute!! This will be the second book I read from the novelist!

  • Oh, so the writer did have a story on all the three buddies. i thought she only wrote two of the buddies. Haha...Ye Chi's apartment is above Hu Jun's. Hu Jun always goes upstairs and hijacks Ye Chi's breakfast to feed his wife.

I read some of the writer's comments and I believe she said something about she enjoyed writing about Hu Jun the most.

I am sure you will enjoy reading about Hu Jun, he is just toooo cute!!!!
